Unfortunately 99. 99 percentage of Indians are not aware of Vedic knowledge that's exactly the point why India is still the third world country, because this knowledge are the life-changing ideas which makes every human super-efficient.

Somebody realised the only way to enslave Indians was to kill the vedic education system. They made sure the "scientific" education system continued after the hand over. Thanks to our thatha. Anyway, let me and you do our part is restoring this wisdom.

Miller Time I don’t think Vedanta is unpopular among Indians. Spirituality itself is shunned away by common public. But who ever is interested in spirituality very well acknowledges Vedanta specially Advaita vedanta , thanks to Shankaras teachings. Reading scriptures is entirely different thing altogether and most of uneducated folks take up bakhi, karma or kriya yoga as it involves less use of ones intellect. But every one understands that all paths of spirituality leads us to this one advaitic goal of oneness.

I never actually thought I would watch and then like a Deepak Chopra video. He surely had a list of questions, organised reasonably - but I don’t like him interrupting and summarising Swami all the time. Swami does summarise himself quite well.

About the hard problem of consciousness, there is a quote from Nisargadatta Maharaj. "Maharaj laughed and said: They may conceive 'unlimited space' and 'unlimited time', but can they conceive the very absence of space and time? It is impossible because that which conceives, in its conception, cannot conceive the conceiving. Would it be possible for the eye to see its own seeing? Can the fire burn itself? Can water understand thirst?". He always said you can never understand it but you can only be it.

Thanks. Very Nice Deep Knowledge. Very Well Explained By Swami Ji Greatly Done Or Coordinated Or Arranged Questionnaire By Sir Mr. Deepak C. I thought it was too deep and difficult to understand what The Great Monk or Saint Swami Ji Tried to explain in the Best possible way. God realization thru knowledge may or may not be that easy or difficult. But when I again watched the same video I Think twice or thrice, one thing I thought helped me is that there is some super power maybe God or consciousness, something infinite. It's just that I have to realize it that I am the same. Once again thanks to the entire team and Mr. Deepak And Divine Sir Swami Ji. May God help us all ( of course with the arguments explained by swami ji. Because one requires a teacher or a Guide or a great priest like swami ji ) to understand that I myself is God or Pure consciousness. Peace Peace Peace.

"If you eliminate everything that is an object in your experience, you are left with consciousness as it is." If you eliminate all that which you can point and say this, then you are left with consciousness. So, how comes on the other hand, everything you see is also consciousness? Maybe I am misinterpreting what is being explained. As said, it's just one school of thought that everything is made up of consciousness. I must add that I am learning a lot from these videos on my quest. Blessings and continue🙏🙏

Deepak is a page and the Swamiji is the book. Every now and then DC tries to interrupt to prove that he is many pages, not just one page; that's annoying. Having said that, I am glad he is finally conversing with the real Vedantins who are trained in proper Hindu sampradayas. DC used to repackage wisdom of Hindu dharma for the uninitiated Westerners without giving overt credit to the source. Because of that disingenuous act of DC, unfortunately, this vast and deep wisdom tradition was reduced to some "new age voodoo" in the language of DC critics. It was a case of ignoramuses hurling dismissive "intellectual" garbage (secular/rational types) to discredit an ancient spiritual system just because they couldn't comprehend it and they found DC to be a charlatan dishing out some supernatural voodoo stuff (Shermer, Harris). DC has probably realized his mistake and is correcting them by bringing the real voices of Vedanta, the ones who live & breath this spiritual tradition.

That’s an accurate assessment! I think the degree between the two is in their level of concentration and ability to discern understanding and terminology. DC tries to simply spew out words like yoga, karma, consciousness and gobbles their definition while Swami is quite exact and clear in defining and elucidating them.

I enjoy Swami SarvaPriyanandas talks so much. They are so pleasing to listen to. I have one question. In this video, you state "That which you are aware of, is not consciousness" Which is very interesting. We are aware of our mind and our thoughts...this is not us. However my question is if it is stated that "That which you are aware of, is not consciousness" , then how can Self-Realization occur? Thanks kindly.

CONSIDER: TO DESCRIBE WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS ? IT IS DIVINE CREATIVE SPIRIT ..THAT MOVES THROUGH EVERY THING, EVERY ONE, EVERY WHERE...when we are aware of the depth of its presence..we may then be aware of our own presence and how we are connected to ONE and ANOTHER....in a level of Consciousness in many dimensions that one is able to connect to as SOURCE ENERGY is most compassionate to allow ONE's own ability to live in HARMONY with DIVINE CREATIVE SPIRIT..

That I was/am not perfectly versed in any one area had always made me feel unworthy or foolish. Now I see this as a gift. When half the people live in extreme poverty where there's no food to eat or water to drink or cloths to wear. Where people are denied the basic means of livelihood. Where life is so uncertain that you can die anytime, do you think this existential crisis that you're trying to get rid of using a very carefully chosen saurcery of words, by blaming everything on a very weird superiority of mind, is enough? I think it's just a manifestation of the idle mind. This can only affect a miniscule population of the planet. We need something more holistic.

With this incredibly valuable knowledge available to Hinduism for thousands of years as it has, why hasn't Indian culture evolved more fully than it has? It's crazy that India and Hinduism seems to be just as mired, if not more, in the same human foolishness as the rest of us. Go figure!

To put it simply, this knowledge is no longer taught in school /college or else where. India has been a victim of colonisation and the ancient education system has been eradicated and replaced with western education, which is more object, science based but not spiritual in nature. Western education is good for earning living , making scientific advances etc which is good but it falls short of answering the spiritual aspects of life.

Thou art that means not exact identification of jeeva and Brahman. It states that non-dual Brahman who is in Jeeva, animal or plant is same as the non-dual Brahman who is in the whole universe. This universe consist of Jeeva, animal, plants and all non-living beings. Because word "Thou" is addressed to all living beings on the Universe. But Universe contains both Living and non-living beings.

Great video. Everything is consciousness. But digging a bit deep, why is consciousness there? Is there an answer to this in Vedanta? Is consciousness = nothingness+energy or consciousness = nothingness? If it is the former, why is energy there? if it is the latter how is something being imagined/dreamed/formed in nothingness (meaning literally nothing)?

Chopra was rude during the introduction & all his argumentative questions are based on a reality bubble or the 'Chopra well' defined by his own interpretation & perception of spiritual concepts that he's been exposed to. He was wrong about the % of known universe, as one cannot find a percentage with one dependent variable as infinite or unknown. He also explained the Goldilocks effect incorrectly. Sarvapriyananda handled the negativity from Chopra in an ingeniously vivid style. Infact the beauty of his arguments is his acknowledgement of the unknown and not insisting that his interpretation is the last word.

If one says that Jeeva is conditioned with body, time and space but in reality Jeava is actually brahman. Conditional jeeva has to do some effort to get rid of this body , time and space to know his actual reality which is Brahman through Thou art that. Then it would result in Brahman was once upon on time as Jeeva with condition of body, mind and space . Why would unconditional brahman become condition?

Jiva(individual soul) = atman(Self) + manas(mind) The atman is seeing everything through the mind. That's how this creation is. Atman is ever free and Brahman itself. But, being identified to the mind, it thinks itself of as a separate entity from the whole, while it is one with the whole. There is birth and death for Jiva only, as it gets different bodies on every birth cycle. It carries past tendencies in mind and so the samskaras. Atman is ever free. Hence, goal is to not identify ourself with the mind and experience the everything as Brahman, as nothing but your own Self. If I could not put it properly, kindly watch more of Swamiji's videos. And you may as well read "Insights into Vedanta" . (TattvaBodha)

Also, one thing I forgot to add. The beginning of universe is considered as One becoming many. That One is called Brahman. And when this happened, Brahman took many forms on its own, including the matter(Jada) and the spirit (chetan). And this involution (many becoming one) and evolution(one becoming many) keeps on taking place. To answer your question that why would the unconditional Brahman be conditioned? i.e., why the creation happened? Well, I guess this is how it is. I don't know if anybody knows about the why behind it. :)

@@yogeshprasher21 Sankaracharya in atmabodha clear stats that there is only on soul. He states that Iswara, Jiva and Jagat never exist. It exist is like an illusion- eg is Mirage. Please clarify who is this jiva ? if you say Jiva is Brahman- How did Brahman become Jiva? and why? If you say Brahman associating with Avidya is Jiva. What is this Association? Who's will is this association? It is Superimposition. How come Brahman which is self-illumination Superimpose the Avidya on itself? Why would Brahman superimpose and then remove its superimposition? See all vedanta Acharyas like Ramanuja and Madhva- Agree attachment of Body and mind conscious with Jeevatma and one Brahman as ataryami of this Universe. Yes jeevatama identify on body and mind and it cause cycle of birth and death. They dont agree Jeevatma (who was once upon a time under the clutches of maya) itself Brahman- like one saying I am GOD.

@@yogeshprasher21 You are saying Atman is ever free and same time wrote it is seeing through mind. HOw can two happen in same thing? I am bathing and also running in the Marathon. You mean to say that Part of Brahman is as become jiva? Brahman cannot be divided as per Sankara- NIrvisesha, No difference in Brahman and it is Nirguna. Sankaracharya's mayavada is very appealing and influencing for any one as first sight- (like seeing an advertisement in TV) but it is not very logical as per the practical application and reality is concern.

@@regardsk3815 First, I'd like to tell you that your KZread account has got a good name, "Regards K". This way you always send regards. That's so nice. :) Second, I will say that I am so far not an enlightened person. SO maybe, I fail to answer your query to your satisfaction. Clearly, you have read atma-bodha and other vedantic literature from ramanuja and madhava also, seems to me that you have read way more than me, and maybe knowing everything in and out more than me. :D But still I would love to discuss with you with all that I know and maybe it will be helpful to you. Just as I said above that from one has become many, the One took two forms one matter (jada) and other, the spirit (chetan). So, the avidya that you say is 'jada', and is Brahman itself. You, I and all that we call 'living', are 'chetan'. So, basically what you can imagine is a tree which has branches and leaves, where every leaf has got a separate identity and sees other leaves as different from itself and also, all stronger branches as something permanent and lifeless. But, in reality, everything is that tree only. It has got both aspects, leaves and branches. And the whole tree came out growing from one seed only. That seed can be considered as the One becoming many. In a similar manner, this world, this universe is has come out of One only and can be understood by us (leaves) as manifestation of one seed. As regards to 'God', it has been said by swami vivekananda that what is there in microcosm is also there in macrocosm. So, just like your body and this (my) body has a mind.. The whole universe has one collective Supreme mind. To understand God in accordance with upanishads in light of Swami Vivekananda, you may watch : "defining God, taittariya upanishad-swami sarvapriyananda" The general talk made by all the great scholars of Vedanta are on different planes of consciousness. Even Sankaracharya has been a composer of hymns which address to Shiva, Shakti, govinda (all these various deities in Hindus), even though he is very well considered an Advaitin (non-dualist). Different teachings were given in different times by different vedic scholars or teachers. Not every human is able to remain on one plane for long time, so our consciousness may continously revolve from one plane to other. Sometimes... We are able to see our own Self as everything that we see with our eyes(Advaita), while other times, we see everything made up of one, of which we are but a tiny part(vishistha-advaita) and still other times, we find no spirituality at all and see the world as material, and there we see God as ruling us from somewhere else. (Dvaita). Now to your question, that why is it all like that.. As said in my second comment earlier that I also could not find the reason as to why the Brahman is seeing itself as jiva and the matter. But an answer to any 'why' is quite tricky. Take science for example., why do things fall down on earth? (actually there is no 'up or down', so better put, why things on earth are attracted towards it) Reason = gravitational pull. All bodies have it and for earth, it is called Gravity. But why this force is there is still a question to science, even though the theories have evolved to concept of gravitational waves.. But still there is no solid answer to this 'why' ? Even if we find one answer as some condition A (say) , why that condition A came into existence will come up next.. And the process will go on. So the answer to "why's" are not yet known to mankind, be it science or religion. But, the pursuit of them is sure way for progress for mankind. Since, I'm not a complete scholar of Vedanta.. So I cannot say about whether it has the answer to this 'why' or not.. Because I have not read about it so far.

I will try best to answer it. The thing is about the three gunas (sattva, rajas and tamas) through which the universe runs. Everything material can be divided in three categories as sattvik, rajasik and tamasik depending on its effect on the mind and its functioning of generating the thoughts. For beginners on the spiritual path, keeping the right thoughts in the mind are immensely helpful and food or anything we take in, play an important part based on its guna. Sattva stands for purity and selflessness. So, consuming the sattvik food is helpful for the spiritual aspirant. Foods are classified in three categories. Plants come under Sattvik foods. That is why, vegetarian foods are preferred. One after attaining mastery over the mind, or we can say after being swami (swami literally stands for one who owns the mind and the sense organs and does not let external things have any effect on the mind), can eat even non-veg. Because he is free. Generally, most swamis don't eat non-veg.. Just to set an example in the masses as people follow them. We know that general mindset is to not accept teachings by a person who doesn't follow the same. So, for bringing your mind under control, you get great help from sattvik food. Hope this answers your question. About the classification of food into three categories.. As to how it is done. You may have to search for it. In some commentaries on Bhagvad Gita, it is explained.

Swamiji has explained this concept in other videos so beautifully - 2 steps of vedanta understanding. Please request you to look up his other videos. On same note, only if deepak Chopra wouldn't be interjecting swamiji's talk with his dull comments he would have had more time to dive in more just the way he does on his other videos.

Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray. They call upon instead of Him none but female [deities], and they [actually] call upon none but a rebellious Satan. Whom Allah has cursed. For he had said, "I will surely take from among Your servants a specific portion. And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them [sinful] desires, and I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah ." And whoever takes Satan as an ally instead of Allah has certainly sustained a clear loss. Satan promises them and arouses desire in them. But Satan does not promise them except delusion. The refuge of those will be Hell, and they will not find from it an escape. But the ones who believe and do righteous deeds - We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. [It is] the promise of Allah, [which is] truth, and who is more truthful than Allah in statement.
