Exploring Nature's Families | Field Experience 2024

The Exploring Nature’s Families Field Experience video highlights the first and second grade component of a K-8 program developed by Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative and partner organizations Oregon Coast Aquarium, Lincoln County School District, The Royal Little Foundation and Nestucca Valley School. The helps students better connect with nature by combining scientific lessons with universal themes like family, safety and protection. By taking learning outside the classroom, kids get to experience nature firsthand…observing salmon in a creek and Heron chicks in their nest…helping them understand and feel connected to the larger ecosystem.
The complete Exploring Nature’s Families program includes classroom lessons, videos, and field experiences. Together these elements help students form a personal bond with nature. By Exploring Nature's Families, they learn about relationships in the natural world, where they fit into the bigger picture and their role as a member of the community.
Cascade Head Biosphere Collaborative believes early and consistent exposure to nature can create a strong, lasting relationship with the environment. This helps students care more about nature through a direct personal experience and emotionally connection, making learning both meaningful and more memorable.
