Roof of the world refers to Tibet. Average elevation of Tibet is 4500 meters whereas Nepal’s average is 3265 meters.

Namaste, This is well known UNESCO world heritage "Swayambhunath Stupa". Swayam means "Self" and Bhu means "Born" in Sanskit. Many millennia ago, Kathmandu Valley was a huge body of lake. Before draining the water out of the Kathmandu valley, this lake was a renowned pilgrimage where many enlightened beings came across from different parts of the world to see the "Eternal flame of light" coming out of the lotus in the lake. Later on, well known enlightened being "Manjushree" slacked a small hill in Chovar near Jalbinayak with his sword to drain water out of the valley. After the water was drained the valley was formed and an "Eternal flame of Light" was deposited in the present stupa known as "Swayambhunath".

One of the oldest scripture known to human called "Pragayaparmita" is still preserved and read by the rightful person in Swayambhunath.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE. If you are a vlogger/tourist from aboard visiting Nepal, yes, it's amazing to explore on your own but take a reference @ 24:45 and entire video from there. Even many nepali do not know all those things even after visiting the same place for 100s of times. Good genuine guide will make every tour meaningful ❤. I learned so many things from this video as well. Thanks Ryleigh 💚

Hey Ryleigh, I'm feeling yr vlogs. Just a pro tip, there are 5 ride hailing apps in Nepal with "Pathao" being the most popular one. You can & should cross check the actual fare to yr desired destination there even if you decide on a cab. Also, whilst in Thamel area avoid any approaches from folks who invite you to some art school/gallery - They're filthy scammers. And, lastly! before you consume anything from most Indian Street vendors in Np - pls check with the local customer bout the price first. As with many places, there's some cheeky buggers in the capital. That being said, Nepal's got some warm, friendliest locals 🤙🏽 Keep on livin ☘️

Please try visiting other side of Nepal as well,,places like pokhara, ghandruk and if you are here for long holiday please try visiting mustang,shey phoksundo and tilicho as well,,you will find the most beautiful part of nepal there❤️ and lastly Nepalese hospitality is too good but sometimes barely you ll find scammers,,please get help from local police or local people to get out of such scammers but i believe you will not have that problem✌️have a great holiday dear guest❤️🇳🇵🇦🇺

While it is commonly known as Swayambhunath, its official name is Swayambhu Maha Chaitya. Interestingly, its first recorded name was “Singru-vihara-caitya-bhatjarika.” Instead of referring to it as the "monkey temple," it would be more fitting to use the name "Swayambhunath." The current term doesn't quite align with the stupa's significance. Congratulations, and may your travels in Nepal be safe and enjoyable.
