I remember going to my husbands pool tournament in Vegas and we stayed at Circus Circus because the Riviera was sold out and they had won and had to play again at 1am and I decided to go back to the hotel since his first round was at 9am and I had been drinking since noon. I decided to have "one more drink" and gamble before I went to crash and played one of the machine's on the carousel and one turned to 5 and I got off the carousel and had no clue where I was at! Lol I exited where I got on but forgot it had been moving! Thats the drunkest I have ever been in Vegas just glad I was back at my own hotel! Lol I go to Vegas a lot, my grandma lived there so I went every few months back then. I have to say, Las Vegas on New Years Eve is the BEST! That whole week is so much fun and my friends think I'm crazy cause I go out in the winter when it is too cold for pool parties! We got married out there in August of 2012 and it was monsoon season and was flooding and I saw that when I woke up and just cried my eyes out. My grandma had passed 4 years earlier and I was expecting a beautiful wedding day and it was raining so hard We waited a few hours before even going to the court house. Then we walked out and a guy for a wedding venue stopped us and he was with the place across the street, years later I was in Massachusetts and talking to my other Grammy and found out thats where she married her 2nd husband 53 years before me.

FYI: the sub you had at sack o subs, is actually the same sub from white house subs (famous sandwich shop in AC - 1 in the streets and 1 in hard rock). Sack o subs uses the same coldcuts and same bread :D thats why it was so good!!

I'm glad you stopped by (wandered into) the Irish Pub, an Atlantic City landmark. If you visit AC again, check out the hotel a floor up (easy stumbling distance, no joke) from the pub. I swear nothing had changed in the 20 years I was going there - cheap rooms, always handy in a casino town, a very old world vibe with a player piano and a phone booth long after cell phones were a thing. The elevator there is a trip as it needs an employee to operate it so you don't get stuck between floors - from the 1800s, I think. I haven't been to AC since I moved from Philly in 2012 but it's sad to see how much things have gone downhill since then, even more so than the 90s when I began going. At least you were able to see Pitbull - looked to be a great show! - and bring us along as you walked the Boardwalk. Sad that so much was closed, relieved to see some old favorites still there. Bummer about your food but having a great attitude like you two did helps so much.

I always stay at the Irish pub. So much fun, although a completely different experience then the casinos. The rooms are kept super old-fashioned. The owner and staff are the best people. So much history.

I really enjoyed your Atlantic city videos! I live a few hours away so I've spent my life visiting there. True it's rough around the edges, but there are some really neat places. Please come back in the summer, it's a whole other world! Here's my recommendations for your next trip: 1. Go back to the Irish Pub on a Monday. That's their Shephards pie day. It's only available then. So so good, and cheap! Also, go and visit the lobby for the hotel upstairs. They'll let you take a peak even if you don't stay. The place was built in 1900 and was a real life speak easy. That hallway you walked through was used to transport booze during the prohibition. Also, the pub has had many famous guests over the years. My notably Joe Dimaggio used to stay upstairs. Have a evening drink on the patio. It's a great experience. 2. Tony's Baltimore Grill. Old fashioned pizza place. Still really old school inside too. Pink eats there whenever she's in town! Her grandparents were native to Atlantic city and they always took her there as a kid. Good food served until 3am. Bar 24 hours. Great pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Cheap. Old time interior with juke box at the tables. Located behind the Tropicana. 3.Take an uber or jitney to the Gilchrist in Gardners Basin for the best blue berry pancakes in the world. Sit outside on the water and look at a notorious pair of boathouse once owned by al capone and used for bootlegging. Gilchrist has been there since the 40s. That is the best location. Plus it's next to the tour boat. Take a cruise after breakfast! 4. Lucy the Elephant. A giant elephant shaped hotel built in the 1880s! Take a tour! It is possible to walk there all the way past the south end. But you're probably better off getting a ride. That's a beautiful area, old beach houses and mansions. Eat at Nuckys Place. Great restaurant. A true hidden gem! Do go back in summer! Atlantic city is a great place. Just look past the sketchy areas!

Thanks so much for the helpful comment! We love to hear all of this. We definitely want to come back in the summer. We are planning on doing so. I love shepherds pie so we will definitely be going on a Monday! We almost went to Gilchrist when we visited this past time but ended up not making it there. We will definitely have to do it next time we go then for sure. That’s awesome. That pink goes to that pizza restaurant when she’s in town, we will have to check that out as well. Thanks so much for all the recommendations. It’ll be helpful for our future visit 😊😊

You're welcome. I really enjoyed watching the videos from a new visitors perspective. Really well done! And thanks for being kind to Atlantic city. A lot of people only see the negative and miss out on the interesting history. Next trip don't be afraid to venture out of the casinos. Like in Vegas, safety is mostly common sense.

Tropicana is a Ceasars property. We are going in a couple months and I can remember going there as a kid once so your video is very helpful but i think i picked the wrong hotel! 😂 its a comp trip and I had the choice of Tropicana or Harah's and i picked the Trop not realizing nothing was on the south side! Im gonna see if they let me switch after I watch a few more video's from summer

The abandoned building was the firmer Hilton atlantic club. The Trump plaza was further up and has been torn down. The former Trump Taj mahal was converted into the hard rock. The mall pier, that was mostly empty was recently purchased by a company that produces movies. The empty restaurants and stores are now being used as movie sets. They also plan on putting new restaurants and stores in eventually
