Sadly, most of us Venezuelans have only seen this in photos and videos. Paying such prices is impossible for the ordinary citizen. Yes, it is beautiful but unaffordable.

@@myriftwarden You aren't paying to be allowed to view it. You are paying for the salary of the tour guides, the vehicles and materials used to get you to the falls, the fuel, the insurance, etc. There's nothing evil about paying for people's time and effort, or paying for goods and services. If you want to walk to the falls by yourself nobody is charging you anything.

Most people in Venezuela Aren’t able to live a decent and happy life in their own country due to the government that basically took away their way of living Able to afford anything. Happy to see that the indigenous people living around these waterfalls can stay and preserve whatever cultural and natural beauty

The view at 5:17 with the kiss of the sun in the vegetation looks so beautiful. Sort of reminds me of the vegetation back home in Cameroon, Equatorial Africa. I also wish that the Pemon name for the falls will catch on more than the Westernized version.

This is an excellent video ! Everything I saw brought back wonderful memories. I used to take my countrymen on tours of Venezuela. Been there 42 times. I have been to Canaima twice, the last time being 2015. At that time a 2-night package with air fare, hotel accommodation, meals and all waterfall tours was US$500. On both those trips I have taken Venezuelan friends with me, paying for their expenses. As it was, and still is, the trip is beyond the means of the people of Venezuela, seeing their economic situation. Canaima, being in a remote location, without road access is a great contributor to this. Too, a boat trip to Salto Angel for 3 hours would not be cheap. Most visitors you meet there were foreigners, from as far as Japan ! Sorry, but on the other hand, visits by the masses, would compromise the pristine natural environment. This is such a shame ! Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

I know it'd be great if everyone could go to Angel Falls, but if this is any consolation, Venezuela has amazing places in every corner of every city, I know that everyone would like to go to that place but in the meantime they can explore their own city and I'm sure they will find incredible places. I was born in the States but I live in Caracas I'm 26 and I love my country 🇻🇪

Is Venezuela safe for foreigners? Ten years ago a friend invited me to a wedding there (his wife is from Venezuela - Maracaibo), but in the end the wedding was in Europe and they stayed to live here too. They say there is a high risk of kidnapping for foreigners there, and from what I've been watching the news from Europe, the situation in Venezuela is not improving.

@@Nhkg17 I can tell you that there are a lot of foreign tourists traveling around the country on motorcycles right now, you know, they're on their own, each one doing their own thing. You can see how they're documenting it on KZread. But if your plan is to visit specific places like the jungle, waterfalls, or the beach, I can assure you that there's no danger. Actually, those are the safest places. But you can verify what I'm saying by searching on KZread. The thing is, most of the tourists who record their trips speak Spanish.

At the age 0f 10 years, way back in 1958 I spent 5 days in Canaima with my parents. In those days, Avensa was the only airline landing there at a grass strip using a DC-3. A memorable flight. It left Maiquetia to Ciudad Bolivar; refueled and then to Canaima. The plane circled several times over the tepui at Salto Angel. before landing at Canaima. Jimmy Angel's derelict plane could be seen at the top of the waterfall. Canaima then was only small village with accommodation houses built by AVensa or Perez Jimenez. Unable to remember. Swam in the lagon. Had an awesome time at the waterfalls. One was not able to go to foot of the waterfalls in those days. A Dutch hermit, by the name of Rudy used to live nearby the foot of the Salto Angel. I remember being told that he used to come to Canaima down the river once every few weeks to pick up provisions before returning to his hut.

Before leaving Venezuela in 2005 this was in my bucket list, but I never got around to it. I'll probably never do it now. Perhaps its for the best that it should remain an exclusive, low volume tourist area. A large tourist operation would change the place quite dramatically and not for the best

I visited the area in 1996 . That walk behind El Sapo falls was so thrilling ! I remember we had to put our - then more primitive - cameras in waterproof bags and give them to the guide so we could focus on following the rope-line through the sometimes blinding spray ! We hiked to that viewpoint at 3:40 but that's the closest we got . Would love to have reached that swimming hole area at 5:53. Maybe some day I'll revisit ? I expect Canaima has changed a little since '96 ....

Unfortunately the political and economic situation in Venezuela now means it is not safe to visit the country. I had the extremely good fortune to see Cairiama National Park in 1996, when going to Venezuela was still reasonably safe. The park is certainly one of the great natural wonders of the world, not just Angel Falls, the lagoon, the tepuis, but Jasper and many other falls as well. It was wonderful to swim in the water hole below Angel Falls, knowing there is nowhere else in the world that you can see waterfalls as high or higher. The falls also featured about 20 years or so ago in a programme featuring the 50 places in the world you should see before you die.
