Best part of the video was Marty saying “I’m really grateful I get to work on cars with my dad“ and he said it a couple of times. You know he meant it.

So Marty is a good friend of mine. Hands down the most honest and approachable person. He loves all marques: and is a student of all. He does however have a proclivity for some off the beaten path cars. Quality man. Simply put.

Wow!! I am curious if Ralph and my dad went to school together!! I am reaching out to my dad now, because I was born in Flemington, grew up on Flemington Speedway, and I have a really cool story about the Dealership that Ralph bought his Scrambler new at, on route 31. My father (just like Ralph had to) went to the AMC dealership in Flemington and purchased a brand new Javlin. I know it was yellow. Long story short, there were multiple issues with the car, and my Grandmother would go with him to the Dealership to try and correct the problems. The dealer gave them a hard time with it. My grandfather was bedridden with cancer by this time, and had a phone installed next to his bed (😂that was a big deal back in the '60's!) Needless to say that he blew his top when they told him that the dealer wouldn't do anything to correct the problems. As was told to me by both my Grandma and Dad, " after several curse words, he picked up the phone, dialed a number. Then we heard him say, "George. It's Brownie. I told you they weren't going to do anything about that piece of $&×t!!! Alright. Thanks. They are on their way over there now. Alright. " and he hung up the phone. ". Then; " Mary! Take Michael back to the Dealership with the car." Gram started to protest, and he shouted, " Go back to the @#$%%&*@ Dealership, they are giving you another car." As they pulled into the Dealership, EVERYONE was walking out to them, including the owner. "We're so sorry about the confusion. Please, pick any vehicle, anything you want. Let me know which one you want. " Of course my grandmother being the most honest person on the planet, absolutely refuses to "upgrade" on their dime, and finally found an Ambassador that was 3 cents more than the Javlin. And she INSISTED that they take the 3 cents 😂😂😂. Then the manager said to Grandma, " I can't understand why you didn't want to take the top of the line, we were told to give you whatever you want. By the way, how do you happen to know George Romney??" Apparently my grandfather was friends with him. Small world 🌎.

In the early 70's AMC was on the cusp of releasing a car that would have changed the American automobile industry, an affordably priced mid engine supercar called the AMX III, it was right along the lines of a Pantera, a well designed and built mid engine car with a powerful American V8 engine but unlike a Pantera or a mid engine European car it wouldn't have been something that only the rich could have afforded. However like so many potential could have been's from that era it was a victim of bad timing, the creation of the EPA and their emissions laws, the oil embargo and increasing insurance rates on performance vehicles saw the possibility of the AMX III coming to fruition destroyed. There were 3 original cars built as I recall and I believe they all still exist along with a few more that over the years were assembled from parts after AMC sold off the unused chassis to the coach builder who originally made the bodies. What a shame it never came to be, it would have put an American car company right at the top of performance cars.

Back in ‘77, I needed a winter car and bought a 69 Rambler American for $100 bucks. It was previously as old New England Telephone service car with 100k miles. Radio delete 199 six with the 3spd on the column. Thing was practically indestructible. I got two winters out of it, and sold it still running for the same $100 I paid. 😂
