Exploring an Artifact Rich Abandoned House (Great find in the barn!)

Ойын-сауық

So what I am most upset about this explore is that I lost all of the photos I took of close up features. I switched phones and my pass code has slipped my mind. If you visit my Instagram account you can see some of the pictures. And another downside to this vid, I used a digital stabilizer to try and get rid of the shake and wobble, and it didn't go great, so yes, I know there are parts that are blurry or appear fast. Because of all of your comments I have bought a manual stabilizer that I will be using in future vids. I always appreciate constructive criticism, it makes me do better. Try to look past the glitches and see what this place has to offer..
I drove past this house doing about 80km/h and as I passed the sign of abandonment caught y eye. I pulled a U-turn and I am so happy I did.
This house has more left over artifacts than any house I have seen. Not just garbage, but real insight into the former occupants. As I roamed through this house, I found books, electronics, writing on the walls, appliances, Lego, and a Mercedes Benz. There was so much in this house.
Houses like this, just left alone to rot with so many artifacts tell the story of the previous owners or occupants. This might be my coolest explore in a very long time because finding artifacts leaves so many questions unanswered .

Let's think about this one. Hydro powder stage 2 and 3 used to increase plant growth, a full growing setup including incubator upstairs (you don't grow tomatoes in your bedroom closet). And a beat up looking Benz that is "crisp" inside. My only guess is that whoever lived in the house was growing pot and probably making good money off it.

Great find! However I wish some things were visible more clearly. For those interested the obit mentioned earlier gives away the following, not mentioning any names: The lady who will have been the owner of the house passed away at age 51 in 2008. She had a husband, two daughters and three grandchildren, two of which are the two girls whose names were mentioned earlier on. She had been married to her husband for 32 years. Furthermore she had been volunteering at a local hospice. A few thoughts of mine: - 51 is a pretty young age to be the grandma of two teenage girls. - The two girls - I assume they are sisters - were living with their grandma so their mom obviously wasn't able to take care of them for some reason. - The man in the photos on the shelf will have been her husband. It would be interesting to know the date often found on the back. - The Benz looks as if it had been worked on at one time; the wheels are missing and so is the steering wheel and other parts. Maybe it was the husband's project once? - Doesn't it look as if the barn had been decaying for a longer time than "only" since 2008? At least the part where the Benz stands. - From what I can tell there are no clothes or major belongings of the girls left at the house; these will have been taken when they had to move. - The photos showing children may actually show one or both of the girls. What remains unanswered: - What the fate or whereabouts of the lady's husband are; judging by the obit I'd say he was alive when she passed away, maybe he is ill and was unable to stay at home on his own or was already not living at home anymore at that time. The fact that his wife was volunteering at the hospice may point in that direction. - Why neither the other daughter nor any of the girls (they will be well over 20 now) seems to ever have taken care of the house or memorable belongings left there. Correct me if you think that any of my conclusions is wrong.

This one definitely had a weird, slightly creepy vibe and that something bad happened with this family. I didn't see any evidence that they were moving out. It just looks like they all just left - under God only knows what circumstances... Had a real sad feeling about this one. Great find - great video!

A friend of mine actually did a house call for the lady that lived there a long time ago for her T.V. There was a younger (middle aged lady) and an older lady in her 70's living there. The older lady seemed like she wanted some attention because her daughter was always away and she was all alone in this place by herself for most of the time. That Sony T.V. is the one where she had "problems" with. But it turns out she probably wanted to have company over and someone to talk to. My friend (even though not getting paid by the hour) stayed with her for a couple hours and had tea. He was sad to see the place on here in this condition.

After doing a little google searching I have come to a conclusion. This was not a grow house for drugs but for flowers. The owner of the house who died at age 51 a few years back was a florist. Her obit never mentioned a husband just her father, sisters, brother and two daughters.

That Pepsi display is worth a mint to the right collector. I wonder of this was a hoarder. I also wonder of the house wasn't ransacked by some idiot. It is one thing to explore a place, it is another entirely to mess the place up. Makes it hard to enjoy the find for others. Sorry, I can't believe I forgot to say Thanks for doing these. The view from the top of the stairs in the barn was WOW! Hoarders. That old Mercedes was a find! I wonder what year it was. Was there a basement in this house? My guess is that the destructive war on drugs imprisoned the occupants who were contributing to the welfare of Humanity. All across the united states we see this. Once one has lived through the raids the guns the helicopters etc. one has lost their home, broken up the family and broken the people.....if they are not imprisoned they are certainly not able to return to the nightmare. Heart breaking. Thank you for not stealing or vandalizing. I don't understand why the destruction all the time...

I didn't see the master bed or the sofas in the living room.. and most of the stuff that should be in a house were missing.. so my guess was that they were half way moving out and something happened. the rest was abandoned.. lot of vandalism can be seen here.. thanks for video.

Th camera was a little fast for me too. I like to see architectural details and old , antique, or interesting furniture. Also the nic nacs, dishes , and glassware. In some ways it looks like part of the downstairs was used for a business. Maybe the business didn't make it and bill collectors were coming. People seem to get most of the furniture out when they leave. It always seems to me that it's the smaller stuff you have to box up that takes the longest to move so it gets left behind.

This was a really cool find...In the medicine cabinet there is a box for an Advair Diskus (an inhaler for asthma) I know because I use it, I may be wrong but I think it has only been out for about 5 years, might help to date the place. I seriously could have spent a week there going though everything. Seems pretty much untouched except for the idiot with the green spray paint...What's really eerie to me is the coats still hung up on hooks by the front door. The Pepsi cooler in the barn I want and the Mercedes looks like it could actually be restored, the interior seems like it's in pretty good shape...Thanks again for sharing, - A fellow Ontarian in Bruce County

@@DaaDeeOhAdventures I just came back here after four years. I still find this exploration fascinating and eerily disturbing. My only criticism is you did not settle on any of the book titles and authors. Knowing what a person reads is an important window into their mind. The girl's bedroom with the writing on the wall and montage of clippings on the wall clearly shows a disturbed young mind . . . .maybe schizophrenic but definitely psychotic. I recognized the wedding photo of Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka ( not a healthy fixation ). Why was there a blurred photo on the wall? Pornographic I imagine, or the girl herself? From the look of the man in the photo he is Swedish looking, but definitely of a Germanic background.

A remarkable find. I'm reminded of Joyce Carol Oate's memoir/article "They Went Away" that was first published in the New Yorker and which became the novel "We Were the Mulvaneys".---Odd, haphazard quality to the house. I wouldn't enjoy living in it. Looks like there was do it yourself work by someone not so good at doing it themselves! Peculiar additions to the original structure.---I know the explorer's creed is to take nothing and I respect that. At the same time I saw so much useable material that it makes me think that someone in the community should get something done in a legal, sanctioned way so that people can take things from the house. I've mentioned elsewhere that maybe somehting could be done after seven years, the amount of time required for someone missing to be declared legally dead. I describe my reaction to a place such as this as "fascinated and exasperated". I don't see any reason why someone can't lawfully assume some responsibility and use some initiative to do something useful with the contents of this location---and maybe even profit from it. I admit I know very little about it but here in the U.S. people can get "quiet title" to an unoccupied house and easily and legally become the owner. I'm sure there are many variables to consider but I'm sure something can be done. Maybe the bank or township that is the current legal owner could just have a come-and-get-it day.

Hey DaaDeeOh - I just wanted to mention something to you....I know that you are getting a manual stabilizer, however, after reading a lot of the comments, Im not sure if you understand what people are trying to tell you exactly. Obviously I haven't read all of the comments on all of your videos but it seems from what I have seen that the majority of people, including myself, are saying that you "pan" the camera too fast from one object to another or from one spot in a room to another. It's not so much that the camera is "shaky." At least that's the feeling that I am getting. Maybe people have meant to say the camera is also too shaky but I don't think that that is the biggest issue that you have. Otherwise your videos are great!! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the feedback, I do agree the speed is an issue, but I have always torn between time vs content. I know this is not a motion picture...what is the ideal time for a video? how much content do I show in a place as rich with things to show as this place? And please take into account I am treading where I don't really belong, so from time to time I do rush to get in and out of a location, that's pure adrenaline. Either way, I have taken steps to improve the video quality and future videos, and I will pack downers on my next adventure to help me slow down (Just kidding)

  • @karenlindsey5988

Absolutely see your issue! I totally get it....but I would definitely worry more about the speed. People don't mind if it is a little lengthy if there is great stuff to see as long as the camera shots aren't too fast. In terms of being caught, etc. not much u can do about that I guess. U just learn to adjust over time on how to get in what you want to and what isn't really as important to people. At least that's what I think...but I'm just an observer ...I'm no pro. Or, of course, there are always drugs! Haha. Yes...I am just kidding too. I just have to say again tho that you really, otherwise, do a fabulous job! I'm so glad you are here! Just an FYI Dan Bell is one of the best and I know that he is always willing to help a fellow urban explorer. Maybe you could contact him and ask some questions about this type of thing? He posts all of his contact info in his videos.

Hi DaaDeeOh , interesting vid. Questions your video created. Although there were items strewn all over the floors , there was no tagging except for those swastikas and there didn't appear to be anything broken or destroyed by vandals. Why is that? The people that lived there were obviously collectors. The car in the barn, the Pepsi machine in the barn. Was that an old newspaper stand in the bedroom? Is it possible their collecting at some point became hoarding? I was trying to figure about when they left. They left behind VHS tapes but no DVD. They did leave CD's. They left books which means they were interested in reading. Were those ten years worth of student year books? That could either mean children were in that school for ten years or one of the adults was an educator. The stream it's built near is beautiful but is the house built on a flood plain? Although it doesn't look as though the contents have been flooded. Some of the wall coverings and plank floors look pretty old. Yep, lots of mysterious questions that will probably never be answered.

I'll guess that's maybe a '69,'70 or '71 Mercedes? It seems to have add-on (or maybe MB "factory add-on") air conditioning and operable vent windows (which disappeared for '74), barely any tail fins (most '68s had angled fins) . Cool car, for anyone who can afford to restore it.
