Great explore. My guess would be that property is in probate or set for demo by a developer. The kitchen was funky with the bright colors. The insect nest looked like a mud wasp nests. The bird feathers might be illegal to have depending on the state laws and bird type, if they were Native American different rules apply. Basement entry was Classic horror movie plot line LOL!! I REALLY was captivated watching this one. Shout out to obsoleteVoids‬ as well. Thanks for this one Lordexplores!

The mirror is there because when these very old homes was built they did not have bathrooms so they would have to shave brush teeth and hair where they choose to apparently they choose the kitchen sink

Cool place! I wonder if the family still owns it? My father in law's parents house sat empty for 4-5 years after they passed. The family paid a neighbor to cut the grass and keep an eye on the place. They finally sold it, and it's been remodeled.

Since the power is on it is most likely stuck in probate and the court can't determine ownership.

Do you know for sure that the house was built in 1870? Im curious because some of those features suggest it was even older, maybe 1850's. Very neat house

Hey, maybe consider less talking because it came across a bit judgmental and a bit egotistical regarding the things you never seen before or maybe you are to young to understand. Those Feathers for one came across as the people must have been strange or weird for having them. Open your mind and try to see things thru eyes from the past. They were probably either into taxidermy or they collected and packaged for sales. They can bring a fair amount of money. Peacock feathers are ridiculously expensive. People also use them in crafts like for example making dream catchers and things like that. Im assuming the white powder they stored them in was maybe for any possible mites, birds sometimes in the wild or even those from a farm carry mites or lice its gross I know but the powder takes care of any possile transfer im sure.. The powder would kill those plus maybe keep the feathers shiney and fresher looking while stored. The wing u mentioned on the dresser to me looked like maybe a wild turkey wing. People should and they used to use all of the animal they killed for food. That is a sign of respect to the life taken. Indians even used the bones to make combs weapons and even hair ties. Yes hair ties were made from collar bones to hold their pony tails. It may be hard to understand for someone that has never depended on self reliance to live seems like everyone these days are just used to buying there food and the items they need. It really was not that long ago ppl survived and thrived from their skills other then a camera in hand. They barderd among the other people for what they needed so maybe try being more curious and talk less when doing a walk thru on old places show respect less judgment and you just may learn something that one day will come in pretty handy .. just a suggestion, other then that i did really like the old homestead. Wish you showed more tho. Oh i almost forgot. The long lil bathroom. Back when they built the house ppl did not have inside bathrooms. They did have chamber pots. So looks like when they put that one in they used an old closet space but that to me is a bit odd but maybe not. Most really old homes like that did not have closets. They used (i cant spell it but sounds like chef-a-robes. They used to not have many clothes in comparison to us in today world but thats probably why the bathroom is a bit oddly built that way.. thanks for the video. I hope you take my suggestions and do more with more curiousity and less ewwww type comments IJS 😊
