Exploring Abruzzo - Sirente Velino, Gagliano Aterno weekend (Italy)
We recently spent a weekend away in the Sirente Velino Regional Park in Abruzzo. We packed in quite a lot in just two days staying at the Centro Ippico Il Vecchio Olmo just outside Gagliano Aterno in a beautiful rustic chalet for the night. From riding, walking to eating (lots) and drinking (lots), we found the Sirente Velino area here to be just so tranquil and magical.
The Sirente Velino is the third highest mountain massif in the Apennines after the Gran Sasso and Majella and hosts the Sirente Velino Regional Park in the province of L’Aquila, Abruzzo. Here you will also find the 3rd largest peak of the Apennines, Monte Velino at 2487m. This area is a truly enchanting and wild setting, an ideal habitat for the diverse flora and fauna found in Central Italy.

Di recente abbiamo trascorso un fine settimana nel Parco Regionale Sirente Velino in Abruzzo. Abbiamo fatto un sacco di cose in soli due giorni soggiornando al Centro Ippico Il Vecchio Olmo in uno splendido chalet rustico per la notte. Dall'equitazione, alle passeggiate, al mangiare (tanto) e al bere (tanto), abbiamo trovato la zona qui così tranquilla e magica.
Il Sirente Velino è il terzo massiccio montuoso più alto dell'Appennino dopo il Gran Sasso e la Majella e ospita il Parco Regionale Sirente Velino in provincia dell'Aquila, Abruzzo. Qui si trova anche la 3° vetta più grande degli Appennini, il Monte Velino a 2487 m. Questa zona è uno scenario davvero incantevole e selvaggio, habitat ideale per la variegata flora e fauna del Centro Italia.

Il Vecchio Olmo was so amazing. A real experience and everyone working there was so lovely. It was luxury in a different way, in terms of being close to nature, to the animals and having the wonderful simple but rustic styling around you. The chalet had absolutely everything you need whether one day or one week and the Sirente Velino area is just spectacular!
Thanks for the video. No masks now? I hope your eye is better. Collodial silver is amazing. Expensive but amazing.

Glad you liked the video. No masks in the great outdoors, definitely in busy towns. You need a green pass to get into places mostly now. Thanks for the tip about the silver, will definitely be looking into that!
