Pacentro is one of the ‘Borghi piu belli d’Italia’ and it’s not difficult to see why. Famous for its towers, it is a well preserved medieval village located in the L’Aquila province of Abruzzo around 10kms from Sulmona. There is plenty to see and do from the Zipline Maiella for the brave, a visit to its beautiful parochial church the Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore (completed in 1603) which you will find in the pretty Piazza di Popolo, the Castello Cantelmo-Caldora to, of course, visiting its many fabulous bars, cafes and restaurants as well as wandering through the beautiful narrow passageways.
The views from the top of the castle’s tower are just stunning and well worth the short climb up!

Pacentro è uno dei "Borghi più belli d'Italia" e non è difficile capire perché. Famoso per le sue torri, è un borgo medievale ben conservato situato in provincia di L'Aquila in Abruzzo a circa 10 km da Sulmona. C'è molto da vedere e da fare dalla Zipline Maiella per i coraggiosi, una visita alla sua bella chiesa parrocchiale la Chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore (completata nel 1603) che troverai nella graziosa Piazza del Popolo, il Castello Cantelmo-Caldora a , ovviamente, visitando i suoi numerosi favolosi bar, caffè e ristoranti e girovagando per i bellissimi passaggi stretti.
I panorami dalla cima della torre del castello sono semplicemente sbalorditivi e meritano la breve salita!

Ciao, thanks for your comment, we are so glad you are enjoying our videos. Will have to have a think about the ZipLine it's tempting but I suffer from vertigo which you might have seen in our Corno Grande video. I'll have a word with Andrew but he didn't seem too keen either! Abruzzo is the perfect place for a holiday home; so much choice and very affordable. @@ExploringAbruzzo I will watch this other video. Vertigo is not nice. I never used to get dizzy but now feel sick with quick rides etc. I think I'd be ok with the zip wire though. Thanks for sharing your adventures when we can't have our own at the moment.

John Gabriel again Have you been to the Capo Pescara natural springs in my home town of Popoli.The water is melted snow from the Gran Sasso.HenryMancini,s relations come from Pacentro.Great video again.You must do Scanno and Barrea and climb to the top.Celano also has an imposing castle where their was below the third biggest lake in Italy which was drained.All the best.

Ciao John. I didn't know you are originally from Popoli, we are living there temporarily whilst we work on our building project in San Benedetto in Perillis. We have been to the Capo Pescara many times, it's a beautiful reserve. You are right, Celano's castle is really imposing, I drove past it the other day on my way back from skiing at Ovindoli. Tried to stop off to take some photos but there were just too many cars behind me and already parked!!! Definitely going there soon for a day trip though!

Lovely video as always. As a resident here in Italy myself I have been to Abruzzo countless times including an excursion to Pacentro a few years back. Any plans of making a video in Sulmona sometime? (my girlfriend's birthplace)
