I KNEW IT!!!!!! The spot above your clearing where your containers and equipment live, the spot where you've been doing all the rock crushing, its perfectly cut out to build into the hill. being on top of the mountain, it has to be built INTO the mountain because of the wind exposure. Also, in your video of the equipment expo where you saw the small mining attachment, the first thing I thought was "He is planning to build some tunnels under or around the new castle". Fantastic idea, Andrew. Can't wait to see THOSE videos.

It’s a blast on good trails with good snow, we don’t seem to get that in northern Ohio lately, if you get a chance, go for it. It’s a lot of fun even if only for a day. There is a dredge in Fairplay, Colorado like this one. the Fairplay dredge boat, which mined the Fairplay placer along the South Platte River. The Mosquito Mountains are in the background. This dredge boat was built by the Yuba Manufacturing Company and shipped to Fairplay, Colorado in sections. The South Platte Dredging Company used it to mine the Fairplay placer along the South Platte River starting in 1941. The Fairplay dredge was electrically operated and was the largest dredge in Colorado. The dredge had over 100 buckets that fed gravel from the river bottom into the dredge's interior where it was milled. The stacker then deposited the tailings along the river channel. The dredge mined up to 15,000 cubic yards of placer gravels per day and could reach to a depth of 105 feet. Dredge operations were suspended in 1942 and resumed in 1945, and finally shut down permanently in 1952.

This is by-far the best video you have produced to-date! The production values and drone-footage are impressive (as always) but the SUBJECT is what brings the GREATNESS! And, the best part, you are helping document an important historical site/relic ... this old dredge ought to be put on the National Register of Historic Places because it's an important part of the engineering history of the US. AND, thanks, too, for appealing to my EXPLORER instincts ... which have always burned strongly throughout my long life ... and, I'm very pleased to see we have THAT in common ... and, the quest for knowing the unknown lives on in another generation of young explorers, like you. I've watched EVERY one of your vidis, so when I say this is the best, you can take it to the bank. Best regards, always, Bob Skiles (retired Texas archaeologist & historian)

Hi 👋

This thing is clearly for gold mining. Changing the relief is a side effect.
Tony Beats of Gold Rush (on Discovery Channel) spent several millions of dollars about 5 years ago to move and restoring one of these dredges. He had trouble finding the cast iron buckets for the dredge line. He is actually using it again this season 14. Ep. 20 It take only two people to operate.

I think he found a couple buckets in Dawson City used as garden ornaments with flowers in them 😊
My Dad is handicapped and can’t move or talk but he loves watching your videos and told me to comment something so here’s what he had to say! Thanks Nate - Andrew when you go into a pile of rock, Push lift and curl your bucket all at the same time and you will save on your tires, as well as wear and tear on your vehicle

That dredge is really cool, I don’t see how neither of you didn’t fall through a floor and break any bones.
That dredge was a floating gold factory. The size is very impressive and to think it all worked with mechanical clutches and cables just amazing.
I can see you’re not in New York. There’s no more snow left in New York. Love your videos. Thank you.
You are very brave to climb around that old dredge. Thanks for sharing.
Well Done Andrew!!!! Glad you had fun with friends!!!!
Amazing that a machine like this was built and put together in a remote location.

there was a series on Discovery called “Gold Rush” in which they showed a similar living machine that worked after some minor repairs. This one was collected somewhere near the railway, after which it reached the last stop, having lost its profitability.
Love exploring the old stuff. Great video.
Those gold dredges were astonishing constructions & I'm glad I found a photo on-line of the "The Peggy" in her prime operating on Washington Bar, Tobacco Root Mountains from 1938 to 1942.

If that's a sneak peak of your next mountain top retreat, I like it alot Andrew . You go for it. I think you would love it, for sure. Always something to do on Andrew's mountain top retreat.
Andrew's videos can heal you mentally, im being healed these days. Just imagine if Andrew starts uploading his wild camping/ Bush craft videos.

Beautiful scenery!
Thank you Andrew. Very interesting video this time. Dredged was very interesting. The snow? Can't do cold anymore. I'm glad you had fun with your friends!!!!!

The footage of exploring the old dredge reminded me of adventures with my brother when we were really young children (totally unsupervised). I would have been 3 and he would have been 5 and we climbed through an old abandoned saw mill full of rusty equipment and rotting wood. It was an entire afternoon of entertainment. It is amazing that we are still alive with all our limbs.

Very interesting piece re the dredger, imagine over the years quite a few have scanned every inch. Now the snowmobiles showed Teambuilding at its finest, most important word was 'we', glad you had a great time as it looked treacherous in places. The ending; a glipse of your new build perhaps?
Definitely one of your best
