Exploring A Classic Car Junk Yard - 1000 Classics
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Where do you find all your cars?
I get asked that question all the time. The truth is, you have to search high and low. Not every tip is going to pay off, infact most won't. I'll go anywhere, any time to check out old cars.
This was a special trip south with my buddy David Newbern and our friend Brandon. I spent a day flying south, slept over then we drove 7 hours though 3 states to check out an old junk yard.
Classics from the 30's up till the 70's where packed in a 30 acre property.
Most of the cars where to far gone to be builders but lots of great parts to keep other cars on the road.
If you're interested in anything you saw on the video. contact Ed on Instagram @rustfinder for more information.
Shoot me an email dan@ddspeedshop.ca if you have some fun places to explore.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's. and i remember walking around junkyards with my grandfather foaming at the mouth at all the cars out there. Now here i am 30 years later foaming at the mouth over these scraps.. Time has certainly changed things. Thanks for the tour DD!

This is my favorite past time! Walking through old wrecking yards is magical! 😁👍
The first yard is all pine trees, pine needles are acidic, hence rotten car bodies, second yard is deciduous trees, leaves are less acidic, equals less rusty cars. Nice walk around!

I think the moist air, wet leaves and tree debris makes for one of the worst environments for cars. Its fascinating to see these yards but also for me rather sad in that all these potential projects have gone. Lets hope they can salvage a few gem parts for people.
The JunkYard Crawl! Whooo. Steve Mags would be so Proud 👏
So awesome and sad at the same time. Hard to believe all the cars. That's a walk down memory lane!! Cheers!!

Nothing better than a classic junkyard so calming for the nerves and see how time has passed ☺️
It's nice of you to go all that way to find bumpers for your girls chevy.
Classic Car Heaven!!!
Still a lot of nice parts out there
Thanks Dan for the tour. The last minute was the best for me. Now, if I just had the room, money and time
"😮" My grandpappy always said there'd come a day when people will come flying in from afar just to see his Garden 😅
Looks like a fun day!
Paradise 👌x1000.🤯
I could see ol' peg and Willard having a good time there
Glad to see you out and about..
Thanks This the Great Video & Channel !
Lots of history out there in those woods... They may be a bit worse for wear, but they're still beautiful
Cars are too far gone for restoration. But there are a lot of good trim parts and pieces. Grab what you can.
It’s always cool to go out to a old junk yard
Walking old yards is better than Disneyland.
Pretty koool stuff 👍
Yay you’re in my state !!!!
I believe these cars were insurance wrecks and were supposed to be crushed but this guy saved them all.
This is 1 of your best videos...I love a junk yard tour..
They gotta be rough for Dan to say they are parts cars! LoL 😂
Ugh so many 59 chevys... That sedan delivery is pretty damn rare
You should got check out Old Car City in White Ga. There are over 3000 cars in that junkyard. They don’t sell any parts anymore, however. It’s like an outdoor museum. A very cool place to see.
That place is an absolute gold mine! 😮
Great video Brother .. Thank you !!
The really sad part is these were probably never for sale when they were still in fixable condition.
My uncle Clary had a yard full of car's and Boat's, and is dreading me turning our yard into a junk yard, I only have 3 in the shed next door, and only 3 in the yard, then the couple out the front, speaking of that I gotta go do some lawns, as we just had two King Brown Snakes in the shed toilet only 6 ft so I better mow the grass so we might be able to see them sooner, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones 😊
So very cool! I’m glad you got to see it even if you didn’t take all the gems you would like to have taken seeing the collections is really cool
We had a local yard in Sioux City, Iowa full of iron from the 30's to the 70's. They piled them as high as they would go. Used to go on the weekends with my dad, and crawl all around those wrecks. There was a pile of engines, and I grabbed a hemi valve cover. Also got a 55 Chevy gauge cluster. Man, if I had a time machine !
Got into a bunch of 59-60's at the end would like to see more it's sad if those trees weren't there I'm sure these were decent when they were parked
Awesome Awesome Awesome. Rebuild them one at a time. Back to there glory days of burn outs and being loved by there new owners. 👍👍👍👍👍
It's amazing Dan how you can blend in with the "locals"... You truly are an International Man of Mystery!😆
My favorite place to spend an afternoon.
Been waiting for this one…Thanks! 🇨🇦🛠️
This was a wonderful experience to go through those junkyards with you and for you to show us around, Thank you Dan and thank you Newburn for bringing him there to see all those beautiful cars and trucks. Keep up the great work and God Bless you guys and your family's, stay safe out there during your travels. 👌💪👍🙏🏼
Damn Dan @ 10:00 look down you would have seen that badass bath tub. That SOB is older than you my friend. Man Newbern found a frigging gold mine, I could have spent the whole weekend looking at "ALL" the cars & trucks.....I LOVE THAT KIND OF SHIT....There is a few good projects there. Take care my Canadian Friend.....
Went to visit my Auntie in Ohio from the UK in I think 1990, and while there got my Dad to take me to a yard that was similar in size, they had been collecting since the 20's...and just kept moving the front desk forward. I'm not kidding you It was almost a mile deep, I ran around that yard for nearly 3 hours ( I was 17 and frenetic!). It had everything from everywhere, Just row upon row, through the decades, seeing the imports start to arrive in the 60's rows, just mindboggling. It was one of the best memories of my youth. Incredible. A great book to get by Pat and Larry Kytola, helped spark my passion. Thanks for this Dan!
Dan!!! You neeeeeed that 59 sedan delivery two door!! That thing is so sweet and no more gone than the convertible was lol
Love old junk yards never know what you''ll find ! Ones trash is someone's treasure ! 👍 Thanks DD
Final resting place of a throwaway civilization.
Very very cool love it❤
I love struttin around old scrap yards they send you back in time with all the memories and the thoughts of what could you do with all this stuff if you only had more time
N.C. Old iron hunting with Dan.
Oh man, I would think that it would have been hard to leave those places, and then you would be daydreaming for days after. Great video, brother. was a lot of fun to watch.
Slim pickings
Man you walked past a 2 engine 4 door nova
Coolest places to spend hours at a time. Have a similar place near me but smaller than 30 acres. 30’s to 2000’s
Keep thinkin' "Tri5 rear door glass, ss trim, anything 2-dr" as u walk. What a shame. Thanks for the trip down memory lane; saw most of my old cars there.
You have all the good stuff up there, keep on rockin
Its criminal to me to see places like this. I know of a couple places in my state where the people that have properties like this love to show and let people walk around, but won't sell a thing. They have it you don't, and are just fine with letting things rust away when there are good folks out there that would and could do something with the cars/ parts. It's a shame folks didn't have a better way to care for these vehicles and made them available to folks to acquire.

Totally disgusting to me. I believe it’s mental health issues that these people are dealing with. Waste of what use to be cool cars and a waste of good land too. Just gross. But not my cars and not my land.
@bartsarton2212
Жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. A lot of people say "Hey, it's their cars and their land, they can do what they want". And that's true, but other people want to buy them and restore them. I agree with Jake from State Farm, it must be a mental issue.

@@bartsarton2212 it 100% IS a mental health issue. Hoarding things is a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

So you would prefer that they had crushed everything back in the 80's when everyone else did?
@jakefromstatefarm9721

@@therealmotorcyclemichael if my options are to crush the cars and turn the scrap into products that will be sold and used by Americans vs them sitting in a selfish or mentally il persons yard to rot away? I would rather see them scrapped and recycled, given those two options. They do nobody any good rotting away.
This looks like a motor vehicle composting facility !
Thanks for the tour 😊
Same. Born in 76 so I too grew up during the same time. I loved walking through junkyards. We had a couple near where I grew up in southern California Plus there was (not sure if it's there anymore) I have to go see But it was a motorcycle graveyard basically with a 1man operation shop mechanic and a couple older dudes working the counter. That was awesome checking that out. People went so often and a lot just wanted to see all the different bikes..the motorcycle salvage started charging 5 bucks to go to the yard. People still paid.
I would love to walk around in there!
Lots of great cars Dan it’s sad that so many will be crushed. Thanks for sharing.👍😎✌️
You walked past a Datsun 270. Omg money 💰
After , countless of years of watching videos like this( I just stumbled upon this). I always wondered what happened to millions of classic cars GTO' s, SS Camaros, SS Chevelles, Chargers etc you get the idea that were built in the US say between 1940 and 1980. They didn't just melt away. There right here , being hoarded by people all over the US. It seems a new video pops up with all these classics in all these fields OWNED by someone who either doesn't want anyone else to have one OR is completely out of the loop. It seems more logical the former than the latter . WOW
I know of a few places like that here in Minnesota less than 20 miles away. Just found a hoard I seen as a kid but got moved 30 miles away to different location in middle of a different woods. I think that's why they get so hard to find after the scrap price hit 300 a ton like 20 years ago now.

That sedan delivery is a 59 sooo beautiful
Thanks for showing
I think Derek would have a few of those cars running and driving home 600 miles.
Those gremlins used to come with an optional V* - stupid quick like a go-cart
Hey Dan Great video, lots of fun in those yards. Take care
This is a scrap yard now
Gotta love junkyard tours. I never imagined that it would make for great entertainment as most visits that I've made to a scrapyard in the past involved scrounging up parts for my daily drivers.
AWESOM,E!
Great video man
interesting junkyard.
Speaking of junkyards... In high school, my friends spent many hours roaming junkyards We are talking the mid-late 70s..... we all had an automotive class ( Skill Center ) on the other side of the city, so we would be there for the afternoon... or some days we'd miss that class and take our own "field trip" and go hunting in the 4 junkyards of our city or one of the junkyards in the surrounding towns Those yards were loaded with car guy gold, and if we knew then what we know now we would've stripped all the moldings, emblems, and even big stuff (engines, transmissions, hoods),all of that classic muscle car gold just sitting there...... 😮 We' d be there for hours looking for parts for our rides... ✌️🙂 Thank you for that amazing video Dan it brought back lots of great memories... BTW: My car 66' Chevelle SS - Ex-Drag car... White / Red interior- 68' 327ci / 4spd / 12bolt ( my 1st car money pit $ ) Opps almost forgot.... NO Bumper 😉👍
Dan the floor pan man Bet it was nice to get out of that weather in Canada neat video.
Pretty cool Dan. I could just imagine what it would have looked like before the first purge when it was bumper to bumper. Sad that mother nature wants to eat everything. The video doesn't do it any justice, that rot is so bad and the only thing left of most of the cars is just a hollow shell of a once cool car. Still lots of value in parts and trim. Only problem is it would take a lifetime to remove, catalog and put to market any of it. Hopefully you find something to salvage and bring home weather its just a piece of window trim or a whole car. Thanks for sharing 👍
We had a local junk yard exactly like that. Just bring your own tools and remove what you needed. No price book just what ever the guy at the counter felt like charging that day. The owner died (in his 40's) and his wife crushed EVERYTHING pre-1995 then sold the lot. So much lost.
Sad to see these cars just rusting away
A WINNIPEG BOY LOOKING AT SOME U.S STUFF FOR A CHANGE..LOL..😅❤..THATS FUNNY..ALOT OF GOOD STUFF TO THE RIGHT ✅️ GUY..NICE TO GET OUT OF WINTER PEG..YOU CANT BEAT LOOKING AT THE PAST OF OLD CARS..THE BLAST FROM THE PAST..❤❤😊
There’s a fellow here in my area of Tennessee that has several acres of nothing but Mustangs. A LOT of the hard ones to find such as Fastbacks and Shelby’s. I’ve been on the property twice and as a Ford guy, I thought I’d died and went to heaven lol.
Good video man love these places that still have a lot of old metal,, cool 👍 👍 👍 👍
You missed the industrial 392 Hemi generator, they have the rare adjustable valve covers, pretty cool
Love me some d and d speed shop!!!
A 30 min video doesn't do this place justice.
The crunch of those leaves is literally like nails on a chalkboard😵💫
I saw 55 with the 58 impala roof at a car show 40 years ago and loved it
helping dani with the glitter earned you a road trip, good video!
Not for sale tells you all you need to know.
1959 chevy sedan delivery cars.. oh wow.. those are a easy 50k car when done up.
One of my favorite things is exploring old wrecking yards. We just had one close in our area. They sold the property and every car is being scrapped.
Doug here, DD Speed Shop fan.............Man, I could spend all day at a place like that. I want that Chevy car hauling rig!
It's like a huge toy store. I think you should grab one of those Z's and SBC it with some DD Speed shop DD Speed shop DD Speed shop love. Datsons and the old Z's are so friggin cool.
It would have been nice if someone would have gotten to them before they were too far gone. If they only knew then what we all know now. 😕
I think the foothills of NC and SC is the best for old cars, no salt from the ocean and no salt on the roads.
Vary sweet collection indeed.
Would love to have the 1960 sedan delivery.... Cool walk around!
