Exploring $300k Of New Trails At Bogus Basin Resort! Fast, Flowy, & Some Big Jumps!

Спорт

Last year if you would have told me Boise Idaho would have a fully legit Mountain Bike Park 40min from Town I would have called you crazy. Well Bogus Basin decided to make this dream become a reality by partnering with Alpine Bike Parks and building some of the most fun trails I have ever seen!

    Just some fun backstory for you guys - Bogus Basin is a ski resort just outside of Boise Idaho and it is the largest Non Profit Ski Resort in America. It has been in business since 1942 and is one of Boise’s most treasured amenities. Just this past year they have decided to invest over 300k dollars into new trail building for the mountain bike program and really just revitalize the entire summer experience. They even just built one of the biggest jump trails I’ve ridden haha. We get to do a little sneak peak for you in the video but it opens Tomorrow to the public. Anyways it’s really exciting to see resorts and towns realizing the economic impact that mountain biking can bring to an area. They said they have over 1 million dollars of new trails planned for the next 3 years and We can’t wait to see how it all turns out! If you guys are ever in the area it’s definitely worth checking out. Huge thanks to them for inviting us up for the day! Hope you guys enjoy the video!

    Kyle & April, great channel. At 60+ still trying to get better at riding MTB and found your channel by accident early this year. Like April, I came from dirt bikes and after moving to SoCal switched to MTB. This was before suspension. I then transitioned to road biking 99.8% of the time for 20 years. Now it's 60/40 time wise, road and MTB. Keep the how-to videos coming, some of the things you are teaching April are really helping me. As others have commented, MTB isn't just about jumping. Now to master the manual! Would love to see you two on the road more like BKXC (the climb is half the fun).

    I keep re-watching the segment on Space Nugget, at my current skill level that would be an amazingly fun trail. Earlier this month I had the chance to ride my first bike park, (Bryce in VA) and thanks to what I've learned from this channel I had an absolute blast, I may have cased most of the table tops, but the berms and (smaller) drops I hit like a champ. So thanks to you and April. The Pro and the Everywoman showing us how to do things right. On a related note... Bogus Basin is now on my bucket list for my trip out west next summer.

I also watched the two of you on B1ker Bar ep. 63 again impressed. Kyle you mentioning your depression and April being tranparent about her fears. Remember there will always be someone with negative comments ... but it's more a reflection of themselves. Hope you guys can do this full time, you deserve it. As well as your learning videos ... love the videos of you two riding the trails together. There are tons of riders showing themselves riding this or that trail ... but very few of couples riding together, but that's just my view. Definately going to show my wife the videos. Next video is gonna be April's debut into the racing scene! She's killing it it's so sick. And your approach to teaching is great too I love what you said at the start of the black trail, that if anything doesn't look right to stop and check it out. So methodical it's a great, something I think I need to try out instead of going gunho and smashing Pedals everywhere.

    I think they tamed G19 a bit and made it a single black diamond. Some of the required lines before are alt lines now and the section near the road crossing had been rerouted and skips what used to be a pretty tricky rock area.

    That's awesome they are adding better trails. I was there a few years ago (on my way to Whistler) and it didn't seem like it was worth it to pay for a lift ticket (ended up just riding XC trails near the ski area). Stopping here on the way to Whistler and at Silver Mountain on the way back may have to be my new plan. I'd love to see April tackle some of Silver's gnarly steep trails. PS: the road up there is hella fun to drive (if you don't get stuck behind someone).

    Super smooth April, like a Pro. All that air and hitting those berms. Really impressive video and your ability now, April, is amazing. Love the wheelies and mono's, Kyle, particularly on the trail between the berms and jumps! On that dusty trail I would be on the back brake mainly, my main concern would be the front wheel washing out. Dust is not that common in the UK! Any tips Kyle?

  • @AprilRideMTB

    @AprilRideMTB

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Bob! Yeah its weird to ride dust! We never get any greasy roots so its funny the contrast between places. The biggest tip for dust is similar to roots in the fact that you just need to pick where you are going and then be light on the brakes. Find little pockets of good dirt to brake in!

    these must be interesting from April's mindset.. Sometimes Kyle is talking to the camera/audience, sometimes he is complimenting April and some times he is giving instruction... all while thinking the trail a head of her Nice sneak preview This is a good time to thank all trail builders... not just for mountain biking.. moving stone, especially large erratics ... One thing a trail maintenance guy once told me: "I like to know that I have made a trail better and it will be like that until the next ice age."
