Your channel has shown me a different side of Alaska, I've seen the real rustic where at every turn my imagination expects a bear or a moose to come around the corner. What a great time to spend with your sister and show us a corner of the world.

What’s really amazing about this place is they produce power using the heat from the hot springs to bring a fluid with a low boiling point to stream to drive a small power plant. I’ve only been here once in 1981 when is was owned by a few families. I first met the new owner in 1989. My son was 6 and was able to go in the hot springs with the other families kids.

A belated welcome to my neck of the woods! I've been to China Hot Springs several times when I was visiting and the last time was with my friend in fall of 2020. I noticed it was a lot more built up since the times before when I have visited. In the summer, I always saw Moose in the various ponds I passed on the drive. I shop at Costco a lot and it seems like it is quite a bit smaller than the stores you have e in your area. Looking forward to post of "Lady A". Haven't seen her in real life myself.

I 1st when t I first went to Fairbanks as when I was stationed to Ft Wainwright in the winter of 1977. I had been stationed at Ft Lewis, WA. as I lived very near to that base in the town of Enumclaw,WA. I drove up the Alcan Hwh that winter my 1st time ever. And it took me 5 days that very 1st trip, if I remember I was given many more days that just the 5. So when I got to Tok, AK., I went south to Anchorage, I had a cousin that worked at Ft Richardson, AK., witch is right at Anchorage, so was very nice to visit Del. Then a few days later drove on to Fairbanks up the Parks Hwy, witch is 360 miles north

It seems to be an amazing year for Northern Lights. They have been really visible over Scotland for the past few weeks and I know most of the UK were able to see them the other night. Usually only the north of Scotland sees them on a regular basis. Must be something in the atmosphere! Hope you enjoyed your trip!

Enjoyed the hot springs. Several years ago I flew to Kaktovik out of Fairbanks to see the polar bears, which was totally awesome but one early morning (2am) we got up to view the Northern Lights. We not only watched them undalting all over the sky in all the colors but we were "in" them. We could hear them. It was a WONDERFUL experience. On this trip I also witnessed the village get a whale. One of three they are allowed. It was fascinating watching them divide it up among the villagers. Even tasted some. Not my cup of tea😉 Looking forward to your next video.

Good Afternoon Hamm Family ❤️ We're having spring-like weather here in Virginia. The sun is shining, there's a lovely breeze and it's about 68°F at the moment. I have the house opened up, enjoying the fresh air and the sound of birds singing 🙂 Hi Miss Luna. She looked like she was saying, "take me with you Mom," while you were packing. She's so sweet... and per usual her secret admirers were at attention in her presence 😺😺 Love your basket collection, especially that big one on the far right 🧺 It's always nice to check things off of your "bucket list". I pray to one day check Alaska , the Aurora and Chena Hot Springs off of mine. Perhaps... some day 🧾 Though I prefer the live version, the Polar Bear was beautiful... as with all wildlife, they are truly amazing. The Polar Bear is Maggie's spirit animal 🐻‍❄️ One of the reasons I prefer the country over the city is the darkness that allows the heavens to shine 🌌 Per usual, I can't get over how gorgeous the scenery is in Alaska... it's even overwhelming at times 🏔️ Alaska Element's gear rental is pure genius. Definitely a great help and relief for people like me who don't have the needed gear for Alaska winters 🥶 Cracked windshields give me the heebie-jeebies. I was in a car accident ~40 years ago at 16yo. My head hit the windshield (before seatbelt laws) just as a metal post hit the other side. Left both an imprint of the logo of the post and glass in and on my forehead, scalp... among other injuries. Still to this day, I occasionally am still pulling out itty bitty slivers of glass from my forehead and scalp. Yikes 😳 Chena Resort, Hot Springs and the Ice Museum are so beautiful. Looks like an awesome, fun-filled place to visit. The history, the green house, the energy power, the ice sculptures, everything is so interesting and beautiful. My body would love to spend time soaking in the hot spring... so refreshing. Mark loves anything that involves planes and snow. I'd love to stay in a cabin or yurt, or even the ice hotel. What wonderful memories would be made. The food looked delicious, especially those beef tips with mushrooms and sauce 😋 Can't wait to see the rest of your adventure. I'm sure you and your sister had an awesome time. Take care. Stay safe. Stay warm. Stay happy. Yah's Blessings ❤️

@@ThisAlaskaLife , ty. That means a lot. I pray someday the stars align. Not to sound weird, but you and your family are a blessing to watch and interact with, to learn from, to experience with, to pray with, to cook/bake with, to watch grow and make memories that your boys will cherish forever. Due to my health issues, I can't do a lot of things I used to be able to. Adventures and outings always have to take into account, my limitations and needs... a scooter, a walker, meds, etc. It really sucks sometimes. Don't get me wrong, I have a beautiful life and an absolutely wonderful 4Fs: Family, Friends, Fellowship and FurBabies. I am blessed. I still do and participate in the things I'm able to do, and Mark always makes sure that any plans - known, surprised or spontaneous - include my needs/requirements . He's a Saint. The best Husband in the world in my humble opinion. Life is good, frustrating at times, but more than worth living. It's just nice to be able to live vicariously through such a beautiful Family. I enjoy my tea-time with you. Stay the beautiful lady you are and know that you've touched my heart and so many others. Yah's Blessings ❤️

I really enjoy your Costco videos. The prices you show at your Anchorage Costco are pretty much the same as the Costco I go to in Midlothian (Richmond),VA. I would have thought the prices in Alaska and Hawaii would be somewhat higher.

I have enjoyed finding your videos. We are looking to take a trip to Fairbanks next December (early Dec). Since you have gone to the Chena Hot Springs I have a question if you don't mind. We are looking into renting warm clothes (from your suggestion) so we don't have to carry from Ohio. We are looking to do the Chena hot spring/aurora viewing. How big are the lockers at Chena if we would have to bring our warm stuff to do the northern lights viewing after? Thanks. I have learned a lot about the area from your videos.

The lockers are not very big but you could use a couple, just make sure you bring quarters. The locker room was nuts, but once you get out into the hot springs it is very nice!

Glad you got to travel with your sister. The lights in your newsletter were beautiful. May I ask why people in Alaska don't wear ski pants when it is so cold out. I moved from Florida to Pennsylvania and I am about the only one that wears ski pants shopping, to movies, etc.

You are right, we only throw snow pants on for outdoor activities. Too hot and sweaty when doing indoor, at least for me!
