Explore An Ultra Modern Dream House Built Entirely from Raw Materials (House Tour)
Ойын-сауық
Located in the established suburb of Glen Iris, the modern dream house by Pandolfini Architects responds to the desire for a home built of hard-wearing materials and to tell the story of the client’s most recent travels. Reinterpreting the story of floating down rivers, going around bends and discovering new landscapes, the form of the modern dream house creates a journey through distinct architectural and material choices. Composed of three main pavilions, Glen Iris House holds the private wing at the front, a middle pavilion for the dining and living areas, and the last pavilion, which hosts a car workshop that is inherent to the storytelling of the home.
The desire for hard-wearing materials struck a chord with Pandolfini Architects, therefore, raw elements were employed for the exposed form of architecture along the exterior façade. Providing beauty to the home’s shape, bricks have been laid vertically and then rotated 45 degrees to create a strikingly complex surface that the light dances across. As the home faces west, the addition of copper screens has been employed to mediate the natural illuminance that comes inside, providing dappled light throughout the bedrooms. Similarly, in each pavilion, the glass links provide the opportunity to cleanse the palette so that one can transition seamlessly between zones. Additionally, the links offer a connection to the surrounding landscape of the modern dream house.
Used to contrast the brick pavilion, the living barn - the middle pavilion - uses exposed concrete ribs to form the shape of the interior design. Containing materials such as American Oak timber, travertine and soft hard-plaster walls, the living room barn has been broken up with structural elements so that each space can shine independently. Additionally, a curved breakfast nook formed out of travertine adds to the middle pavilion’s internal structure, while a sculptural fireplace sits between the living and dining rooms and delineates the spaces. Continuing with the theme of discovery, the architect has created surprising moments throughout the interior with timber batten walls and concealed doors that open up to other corridors or into new areas that are not expected.
Though arches are present throughout the modern dream house, the choices were not premeditated and instead have evolved naturally throughout the design process. Furthermore, the hard and dense materials used for the exterior of the home are complemented by the arches to insert a playfulness and respite over the home’s form. Providing a contrast to the internal materials, which are softer and more refined, only three materials were used for the home’s exterior. With bush-hammered concrete, terracotta brickwork and copper, Pandolfini Architects chose the materials due to their hard-bearing nature and ability to age with the property. Incredibly proud of how the materials have come together, Pandolfini Architects recognises the joint effort with the builders, interior designer and the clients who helped to create their own modern dream house.

This is that rare video that merits watching twice. The materials chosen and their interaction with light are just a feast for the eyes. I don't care a fig for the car workshop, but I'll happily overlook that for the rest.

That alfa gtv 2000😍
The cinematography, editing, and sound design were flawless in this video, good job
House is incredible but I couldn't ignore the superb editing
I'm sure to some neighbours the architecture may be a 'shock', yet the materials and colour schemes blend in beautifully. A grand achievement of adventure in a home.
This has some amazingly modern Louis Kahn vibes
Immaculate taste in architecture and motor vehicles 😮
So sublime! And the classic Porsche's is the chef's kiss 😘
Just had to comment again, THIS IS HOUSE STOLE MY HEART. Its truly my favorite.
Australian architects are on another level. Whenever you see some insane house in Hollywood worth hundreds of millions, it's always ugly and looks more like an office building. These homes in Australia are so much more stylish and well designed.
Absolutely flawless. I love the interplay of these materials with each other
Oh i Love this house so much. I love the different materials that they used, The kitchen and the fireplace are to die for.. Love love love it🔥🔥🔥
So beautiful. Thank you for the buzz. Also for being back in Australia. I'm not Australian but so love the vibe and spirit I see from Australian designers and architects. I watch everything you offer us.
Most beatiful House ever!
I love this house - these hardwearing materials combine so well with their exciting shapes and forms and create a modern, warm environment. Just look at these arches and the brickwork! Beautifully done.
What a pleasure to experience this space!! Thanks for sharing it with the world

The Garage/Shop space is my favorite part.
the music in this video is fantastic. nice job to whoever did that 🔥
Favorite feature so far
Beautiful house! As one moves through the house in this video what comes to mind is warmth, but if I had to describe it, I would say: modern gothic - as suggested by the arches. Stunning!

Glad you enjoyed it!
All of these elements work so beautifully together. Drama, simplicity, playfulness and elegance all included in this stunning home. Absolutely loving the unique brick placement and the juxtaposition of the copper! A project to be exceptionally proud of. Congratulations.
Love the 50 shades of brown
Wow, I loved the bricks at 45º at the front; most probably it has been done before, but for me it's the first time I see that arrangement. I looks stunning. Of course, the rest of the house is beautiful too, I loved the contrast between wood and concrete. Also, those arcs give a lot of character to the house. Overall, fantastic job, congrats!!! :)
This is absolutely stunning. Its perfect
Super Cool edit on this one! Cheers!

Looking for someone else who caught that 😂😂😂😂
That home is 10/10
Thank for allowing us to see this house, it was such a nice experience! I love it!
What a poetic home.
Incrível este imóvel. A arquitetura Australiana é simplesmente maravilhosa 👍🏽.... parabéns a todos que edificaram este imóvel . Show de viver...👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾💗🥰👍🏽🆗❣️🙌🏼
If I was blind in one eye and couldn't see out of the other I would find the place beautiful, but I can see, enough said...
Beautiful work Pandolfini! 👏
I wish there were a few more night shots but overall the camera work/editing is outstanding
The reason the car workshop is the still used when scrolling through KZread…? Because it is hands down the best part of the architecture! Both aesthetically and functionally.
i love this house
Lovely home ND!
Diseño muy interesante, excelente edición de Video👏🏽👏🏽 !!
I love how sculptural the place looks both from the outside, with those upside down arches, and inside, with the curved fireplace and the kitchen island. These sexy curves are all over the house, the windows, arches, stairs, skylights. And I like that earthy, soft color palette. The only thing I don't like, and it's a personal thing for me, is the mixing of raw concrete and brick work - to me it clashes and looks a bit too busy, but i guess it's just me.
I've been watching this channel for like 3 years now, but the edit on this video is something I haven't seen before. Insane.

@@mattyoung4559 Crazy stuff.. I love how they are sticking to their tradition and editing style & art direction, but from time to time there are some insane transitions.
Beautiful result
Ridiculously brilliant episode
Loving the concept, and the materials especially the copper which is wonderful, personally, I would have a slightly darker pallet internally but that's just a personal choice, and maybe something with the roof structure externally to incorporate a more natural finish?
the cars and the garage was the only thing from this that i liked
Beautiful!
MARAVILLOSO!
WOW!!!!!!!!
This definitly one of my favorite, wow its freaking gorgeous!

Would be great to show tot construction costs of these builds. This is easily a few million.
謝謝!
I like
Мне настолько все понравилось, что такого короткого ролика было мало! Снимите ещё ❤
I would love to know what song is playing in the background. Love the house too!!
One question! Is it me who cant find it or do you all not give credit for the music? Your videos are amazing, but the music gives the videos a smooth feel!
Does anyone know where they get their music from? It's amazing
Interesting who is the Mastermind behind? 🤯🤣
song playing at the four minute mark?!
Una jaula muy cara?
😍🤑
Anyone else hear the words of the song at the end ???

in this video it's perceived the objective to achieve 1 million views or more
Anyone aware of designs for more affordable housing? This but much smaller and for not one household, but, rather, an entire street or neighborhood. I wouldn't want that much space even if I could comfortably afford it.
the materials are beautiful and tasteful but the design is not for everyone
That is A LOT of lines...
The dwelling is aesthetically pleasing, however, it appears to lack originality. The utilisation of specialised architectural terminology to promote the design is evident.
Another example in this site of White Australia, where they borrow shamelessly from Japanese architecture without a nod to Japan, or any Asian nation. This is very common in this Local Project site.

If you were to acknowledge every inspiration for every design or art project you did, you'd never get to the actual work, you'd be endlessly acknowledging predecessors and their inspiration. You didn't demand they acknowledge Scandinavian design either. If you're going to call out appropriation, do it thoroughly. Australia as it is today is an amalgamation of numerous cultures coming together in terms of foods, art, and architecture. We're not perfect, but we know we still have work to do.

what a nonsensical take. If you watch the videos, a LOT explicitly mention both Japanese influences and extensive use of artisanal Japanese manufacturers.
Prefer the recent American videos, simply because the architects are so normal and grounded, whereas the Australian architects you feature are so up themselves speaking a silly language full of architecture clichés.
concrete is not a natural material
I did dislike
wow how ugly can you make a house . but the interior is ok
how much did this cost
Beautiful
