Explaining "Utah" Things

utah really does have it's own language
In this week's video, I explain and give definitions to "Utah" things, words and phrases. When I moved to Utah, I was SO confused by these terms so often used in Utah. Many of the phrases here were made popular by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but some are just local words and terms. After living in Utah for over ten years, I decided to make this video and explain the stuff Utahans say. Utah culture is definitely unique, but that's what makes it great!
Some of the topics I cover in this video include: soda shops, Utah/LDS "swears," sluffing, odd city names, fry sauce, NCMOs, summer sales, the holy war and more!
What's your favorite "Utah thing"? Let me know in the comments below!
Thank you SO much for watching! Feel free to leave me any video suggestions you have in the comments below & if you enjoyed this video about church doctrine, please let me know and we would love to make more of them in the future for you! 💕 Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you haven't yet! I make videos every single week! 🌻
I love each and every one of you SO much! Thank you so much for your love and support! I can't wait to chat with you in the comments!

Yes! Utah has its own way of speaking, hahah! I’ve actually picked up on some of it from visiting so much and watching Utah youtubers, hahaha! But It’s not a bad thing! Actually with the swear words, I say “oh my heck” ALL the time now hahahah!! I just love everything about Utah though, so much that I want to move there, all the way from Canada! Also, I LOVE watching missionary homecoming videos! They’re so sweet! That’s one of many things I look forward to when I fly into SLC is seeing all the families waiting 😭😍

How long have soda shops and "dirty" sodas been around? Sorry, but I left the church about 20 years ago, and I remember when caffinated soda wasn't allowed. Or was that just an outside-of-Utah thing? Wait! I remember a scene in "The Singles' Ward" where they spiked the punch with Mountain Dew. Oh, I am so confused!

The Honey Comb on the Utah Flag or the 1960's BYU silver class ring symbolizes a strong unity and organization. Bees which live in honeycombs are very well organized which is what the pioneers strived for when they founded this state.

I'm also from Michigan and went to engineering camp in high school. One of my friends at camp had come from Utah and she was absolutely baffled that nobody knew what fry sauce was! (It's basically Thousand Island dressing to the rest of us haha.) I'm not sure if "biffed it" is just a Utah thing - I grew up saying it, but full disclosure, I was a klutz...

You definitely need to make the Diet Coke can in the background a thing! Btw...why is Diet Coke preferred to regular Coke in Utah? I absolutely detest any soda that's diet because of the artificial sweeteners...it just leaves a terrible aftertaste...not good!

Green Jello only makes sense if you grew up in the 80s or earlier. Its so nasty that it died with any Xennial that was tortured with it. "Biff it" only makes sense if you live in snowy places. AZ doesn't have ice. In college we had a biff-it chart on our door. We had to come home and rate our biffs (falls on the ice). We used emojis before they even existed on type. But not a bad video!
