Fr. Chris, whatever topic you discuss leads us always to Jesus Divine Mercy. What more do we need in this life, but desire to be attached to Him and not to sin. We need to be cleansed in confession in order to receive the Holy Eucharist offered by Jesus Himself. If we follow sincerely your guidance, we become fully immersed in the graces of His Divine Mercy. My heartfelt and endless thanks to you for all the lessons you gave, our very caring and loving good shepherd. God bless you.

Yes, the original sin was washed away by the blood of Christ. But broken as we are we commit sins daily, sins which we must confess. Read the whole New Testament for better understanding of the sacrament of confession. KJV is a protestant bible. You can also read the Catholic bible. God bless you.

Father Chris, over many decades I must have earned many indulgences but consciously did only a few if a priest specifically pointed them out. But with regular confession, Holy Communion, Rosaries, Chaplets, acts of Mercy, prayers for the Pope etc. , offering prayers for others, I must have accumulated quite a few. Do you think God counted them as such? I just do those things because I like to do them most of the time, because they make Jesus and Mother Mary happy, and because I know that without constant prayer we are dead. I try to be more aware of consciously praying to gain indulgencies, but in the time it takes me to find out about it I could do quite a bit of praying. Is it enough to say: "Jesus, I hope some of that warrants an indulgence, please us it as you see fit"? Thank you, for all your good work as a pastor.

Thank you thank you thank you for these talks, Father. I can’t imagine how tirelessly you work especially amongst the hardship you are going through. Yet you still make the time for these talks. I can’t explain all the ways they have helped me. I listened to you so much during my pregnancy (which was really difficult and dangerous). But now my baby is here, and I’m pretty sure she recognizes your voice! Anyway, I was wondering if you might ever consider doing some kind of talk on fear? Sometimes I have so much fear of just about anything that it’s crippling. Maybe there might be others out there like this too? Anyway, thank you again. God bless.

Yes plenary indulgences can be done for ourselves or a holy soul. That is different from the extraordinary promise of divine mercy Sunday which is only for ourselves. But the church also does offer a plenary indulgence on divine mercy Sunday as well. God bless

What about those of us who aren’t Catholic? We don’t have confession and communion just once per year 🙄 There is spiritual communion for us non-Catholics, but confession? Been praying the Divine Chaplet as well as the novena regardless.

Bloozestinger, this is so exciting that you are praying the chaplet of the Divine Mercy! I believe that even though you aren’t Catholic, there is going to be an outpouring of grace in your life tomorrow! Perhaps one of the graces that you will receive tomorrow is the desire to enter the Catholic Church! Think about this, why would Jesus set up confession and holy communion as sacraments to be received and then ask that they be the vessels of how graces of DM Sunday flow through if the Catholic Church wasn’t the church Jesus founded? You have been touched by a special grace to desire to pray the chaplet. Our Lord is calling you into His church and wants to use you as a vessel to bring this devotion to others! I’m so excited to see what God is doing in your life!!

@@kathleenodonnell8355 thank you. I’ve started praying the Rosary and/or the DM Chaplet every day as well as a prayer for intercession to St. Benedict for the last couple of months. I find the prayers comforting. The structure of the Catholic Church is what initially caught my interest, which is funny considering I graduated from a Catholic college nearly 25 years ago and was not the least interested in religion at the time. We live in a very small rural town where the options are a small non-denom, where we are currently attending with about 10 other people, and a small Catholic parish. My wife likes the more modern service, but I’m drawn to tradition. It’s not a source of friction for us though. I do not know if I will receive any graces, but some direction would be nice as well as well as some relief from anxiety over very old youthful sin (easy to beat yourself up even if you “know” you are forgiven).

Yes God bless you! Non-catholics can still receive this grace by doing an act of contrition for the forgiveness of sins and an act of spiritual communion to unite and ask for God to come into the soul as if it was the sacrament of holy communion. God bless you

The virgin daughter of the Chaldeans (Babylonian Empire) chose not to believe in mercy while their leaders imagined that they knew where all of their (fake) gods came from. Ancient Rome did the same.

Just picturing what was described, crying and lamenting in the confessional 🤔 to be truly sorry and avoid purgatory ....imagine the poor priest if everyone that came in was rolling around crying 😅 and beating their breasts. Sorry I know this isn't the place for laughter .....can't help it.

Actually it is true joy for a priest to see contrition in the confessional 😇
