What is happening everyone! We are back at it with another saltwater fish unboxing video. These fish are labeled as Experts Only, but will that stop me? NO! Lets do this. I also needed to buy some pods form Algae Barn. That is the secret to keeping these fish in my opinion. These are not beginner saltwater fish since their diet is so specific. They will take frozen fish food and fish food pellets, but it will take time. Lets see how these fish do.

Hi bud. I respectfully found myself a little uneasy watching this. You have bags of enthusiasm and I can relate to the excitement of keeping challenging fish. I have to say though, that you are making amateur mistakes in this video. It’s all about minimising stress. Lights off in the room and on the QT. Don’t use nets. Use the bag it came in to acclimate and don’t splash them from bag to cups etc. Never chase a wrasse with a stick to dig them up! Seriously. You would of been far better served if you had the QT correctly set up too. Not enough depth in the sand bed for a wrasse to feel safe. The water looked way brown/green too. These little guys won’t tolerate poor conditions + bag loads of unnecessary stress. I have long term success with this wrasse and can promise you that a few tweaks and they will thrive for you too. I’m hopeful you take my words in the helpful manner intended. Go slow. Be patient.

One thing I learned along time ago was that when a fish is stressed you leave it alone. The worst thing you can do is prod at them. I even read that for new fish you should turn the light off in the aquarium and put paper on the sides to make the take as dark as possible. Then walk away for the next day or so.

Great fish!!! Took me a couple of tries to get mine into the main display. Happy to say I've had my Leopard for 3 1/2 years now and it's fat and happy! Good luck on transitioning them over to frozen. Try LRS Reef Frenzy. Mine adapted pretty fast to that food.

I’ve always dripped acclimated my fish for 20 to 30 mins so it’s a steady change over so does not stress the fish out, but I see you just used a cup full from your tank and put a quite a bit in each one. Definitely not enough sand in that tank for then kind of fish.

These wrasse are tough to keep, so i would suggest minimizing their stress. I wouldn't use a net to catch them once they are already acclimate to water and definitely wouldn't poke sand looking for them. Otherwise goodluck on them and hopefully the spaghetti and sauce were yummy!

I just lost my mandarin dragonet pair. They were doing good and eating well... I came to the tank and they were both real beat up... I think my yellow tang killed them because the tang was in the "cove" that the mandarins normally occupied.... Super sad because they were my "goal" fish.... I don't know if I want to get another until I find a new home for the tang.... good luck with the new fish!

Leopard wrasses are really beautiful. I don't have personal experience, but my speculation is that they don't import and quarantine well. The copepod thing is always tough, but I seriously see ones that crash and burn regardless of the food, unlike dragonets which almost always thrive with food. I hope yours make it, truly. If you have trouble, maybe look at a different seller/importer. I really believe that the import process makes or breaks it with these guys. Also, tigriopsis are great food sources, but they don't do much breeding because they are cold water pods. For long term seeding in a tropical reef, I go with tisbe or apocyclops pods.

@@inventoryking Nothing. I fed the fish flake food, which it ate readily. I never even did water changes. I put it in a 20 gallon tank. I was only about 13 years old when I did this. I don't remember it dying. I think eventually I took it to a local fish store and gave it to them when I was tearing down the tank. Maybe it was beginner's luck. It was the first time I had ever tried to keep the fish. If I tried to keep the fish now in a much larger tank, it would probably die in a month.

You have to do at least some research on the fish. Running a saltwater and reef tank is different than freshwater. Some are not going to do well unless your system is ideal for that particular system. Types of fish and other organisms in with them etc. otherwise all you are doing besides sacrificing your money and time, is you are basically killing the animals.

Id like to say, after being shipped you get them out, after acclimating to temp for 20 mins which is good, you then get the fish slash the bag and just pour the poor fish in to a tiny plastic cup quite roughly I think you may need to be a bit more careful when transferring your new fish to help reduce any further unnecessary stress... why don’t you put them all in a small container then drip acclimate.. As reefers shouldn’t we be promoting good techniques handling of the animals we care for... But I’d like to add the leopard wrasses as fabulous and beautiful fish... so is the scooter 👍🏼..

This company should know better than to ship these wrasses in plastic bags. This is responsible for a huge part of all the shipping losses with these fish. To make it worse, they give you a free dragonet which is a direct food competitor to the wrasses. Introducing this many fish that mainly eat copepods at once will do huge damage to your copepod population, which would result in starvation of all those new fish. Please get your fish from an honest LFS or trader, or do your own research
