Experimenting with Wood with Morrie Backun and Corrado Giuffredi | Backun Clarinet Innovations
Музыка
Join Backun Artist, Corrado Giuffredi and Morrie Backun as they explore the various woods Backun Musical has experimented with to bring our popular Clarinets, Barrels and Bells to clarinetists worldwide.
From Grenadilla to Cocobolo, Purple Heart to a 2x4 of Fir (formerly from Morrie's backyard fencepost), Backun Musical is once again showing how we're "Reinventing The Clarinet One Piece at a Time."
In this video, Corrado is playing a MoBa Bb Grenadilla Clarinet with Gold Keys.

Unnamed wood looks like lignum vitae to me.
parabéns Mestre Corrado Giuffredi. Meu grande MESTRE !!!
Would love to see a part 2 to this!
Excellent! They do make a difference
And I love his first sound.
I totally want to get a better clarinet. It may take a while but looking forward to it.
I would think that printed barrel would be great for a jazz performer (typical one clarinet with a big band y'know?) Really puts the sound out there instead of the clarinet having to be damn near built into the mic haha
What's the material of the 3d printed one? PLA, ABS, Bamboofill...
There are a few Australian timbers that might be suitable. There is an Australian oboe maker who has a model in mulga. You could also try gidgee, pink gidgee, raspberry jam (it really smells like jam!) there are probably many more.
Will Backun offer other woods in the future? purpleheart, pine, pink ivory, bloodwood, it would be great to have more options than just grenadilla and cocobolo. Another great option would be the Mexican Kingwood/Camatillo, which is another species of the genus Dalbergia, just like the grenadilla and the cocobolo, also dense and hard but in beautiful shades of purple.

At this time we are only offering Cocobolo, Grenadilla, and Tulipwood (for Eb). These woods have excellent durability and tonal response, but who knows maybe we'll add more in the future!
Would it be possible to order a 2 by 4 barrel?
I wonder how redwood would work.
I’d like to print my own version of that white barrel if you could send me the info!
I play the flute. I am renting a clarinet. I love it!! Looking to buy a clarinet I’m not a professional. But serious in my studies. What clarinet would you recommend for me
Sorry but my english isn't very good ¿From what material is made the white barrel?

Most likely plastic or synthetic material.
What is the average cost of a Backun clarinet?

you can find the student models from $500
Maybe there is no difference. It's only a barrel. Maybe we are in an expensive fantasy land here. What you need is for Morrie to send you a barrel to try out. I'll admit I would spend a lot for only a little bit of a difference.
Le prove di mille barilotti o campane costosissime o altro , sono tutte perdite di tempo......ciò che importa veramente è l ancia di un certo materiale in relazione ad un becco di medio prezzo e di apertura 1,2
