Erfurt hat für mich die perfekte Größe, sowohl von den Menschen sowohl als auch die Stadt an sich. Zudem braucht es echt nicht lange um der Stadt zu entfliehen, bspw. im Steiger oder den umliegenden Dörfern
I need to visit this town before I die! It’s one of those places like Chesky Krumlov - quaint, charming, historic, ethereal! You actually went inside the house on the bridge- which Is something I first thought of when I first saw a photo of the bridge online: I was like: i wonder who lives there and what it’s like!
Thank you for a wonderful film about Erfurt! We are from Ukraine, we were there for 3 days in September 2021. The city just enchanted, fell in love with it! In my opinion, it is undeservedly underestimated - one of the most beautiful cities in Germany!

I just came back from Erfurt...there is soooo much more to see and my tip if you're staying over night - make a reservation at the OPERA HOSTEL !! It's just a few steps away from the Cathedral and amazingly cool decorated, comfy and has everything. The Augustine cloister and the oldest Synagoge in Europe should both be on your list and a must to visit!

Talking about the Erfurt Cathedral and not mentioning the biggest free hanging bell of the world (named "Gloriosa") is ... really a missed opportunity! The current bell is the sixth of its name in the cathedral and was cast in 1497. The “Gloriosa” served as a model for a number of large bells, such as the Frankfurt “Gloriosa”, the large cross bell of the Dresden Kreuzkirche and the Petersglocke in Cologne Cathedral. More information can be found in Wikipedia.

Erfurt is definitely worth visiting. And the layout of the Old Town is medieval. But I think the video is misleading: the Old Town only makes up a schmal part of the city of Erfurt today. Not every Erfurter lives there. And even in the Old Town most houses were built after the 15th century - the end of medieval times. "Imagine what was it like in the middle ages" - well, that definitely didn't look and smell like a well renovated, well decorated, boutique pedestrians street of today.

@Henning Bartels You're right, of course, about the sensory experience - it is probably impossible to reconstruct, even though that would be quite challenging..👃👀 But the structure of the old town's core, for example, has not fundamentally changed.

This is not a thuringian Bratwurst. To be genue, it neets to be rough. Like not pre-boiled. That makes it hard to get due to hygenic restrictions. The ones you get in Erfurt are widely not accepted by Thuringians as Bratwurst.

Sehe ich (als Erfurter) ganz anders.
This city is the worst of all in Germany. As someone who made the mistake to start studying in Erfurt, I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. Most inhabitants of this city are one of the worst in the entirety of this country. People will stare at you for no reason at all, even if you look them dead in the eye after you caught them staring at you. NeoNazis are literally in every street, not to mention addicts and crooks. If you want to see a place with cultural diversity, you`re going to the wrong destination. If you're young and looking for a city where you would like to spend your time and have fun, you're going to the wrong destination. But if you have an extremist world view (it usually tends to the right), no expectations of quality of life, and the urge to stare at people, this is definitely the place to be!💯 The fact that it just takes 15 minutes to walk to every place in this city means that you could easily visit every interesting thing this city has to offer within one day. If you want to go really deep into the details it takes you two at max. The only place that is worthy to visit in Erfurt is the train station, so you can get out of there as soon as possible.
