This plugin was very welcome in the studio! Been looking to get the hardware but this gives me alot more flexibility and it sounds gorgeous! As always to expect from Universal Audio!

I'm genuinely not mad at the fact that they add more plugins overtime. It feels good that the value of the product increases but for the love of god, add the plugins we REALLY want!! Lexicon 480L!!! Neve 33609 & 2254!!! SSL G COMP!!! SSL Channel Strip!!! Neve 1084!!!! Idk why these were not considered first before all these new ones.

tbh the 1084 is pretty similar to the 1073 sonically. If you ever saw a frequency chart of them side by side you'd see the base box tone is pretty similar.

I'd love to add the Culture Vulture to the list. People have been asking for the SSL for a very long time now. I guess it's got something to do with the fact that it's also available via the SSL subscription and the perpetual license is affordable as well, usually on sale for $29 or $49. But yeah, I'm not mad about the fact that they add more plugins overtime, but for sure they could do much better. At least add 2 plugins every month?

i'd add the EMT plates and AKG spring reverb to that, there's enough channel strips and comps/eqs

Unified GUI in the Unison slot. The ability to toggle back forth between 1176 and LA2 with all settings saved which helps you decide. HPF in front of the tubes which cleans up the bottom of the saturation nicely, as well as variable Ω for instrument inputs, a first for us in a plugin.

What can I say. Returning to recording after years away, recovering from analogue studios UA took me by surprise. I am now blown away working in a digital world with the analogue flavor. In my ears the UA plugins sounds just like the hardware. Thanks guys for making things that sounds musical.

It’d be sick if you could choose to use both comps at the same time. Which of course would bring the issue of what comes first, but if that was added I’d be so happy. It just adds something extra that hardware doesn’t have but would be a welcome addition.

Always 1176 first, for the transients, then the slower LA-2A after that.

The 1176 included in LA-6176 is a reduced cost version, unlike the standalone reissue UA1176LN. In particular, the 1176 included in the LA-6176 has a different input transformer (Cinemag CM-3303), so its sound is different from the standalone reissue UA1176LN (Magnetika O12). Does this LA-6176 plug-in even emulate the difference in input transformers?

Would have loved to be able to run the two compressors in series for that classic 1176->LA2A dual stage compression trick

Sounds good! I’m surprised that you guys didn’t make a console extension of the 610 or SSL console into Luna. It would be nice to get some of this stuff built in! 💪🏾💯

The sound is nice but I'm missing some added value like proper meters (input, saturation,...) that modern plugins provide

The thing is, I need both the LA2A and the 1176 at the same time in series. Having to switch between one or the other defeats the purpose for me. It would mean that I'd need to load another plugin after this one to load whichever one wasn't selected first. If I'm loading 2 plugins at this point, I'm going to go with the 1176 and LA-2A plugins. Edit: I originally mentioned that I bought Sonnox Voca but I favor UA more for the 1-2 vocal chain.

Yes it does. But it has a HPF filter in it which cleans up the saturation nicely. Also, if you own an Apollo you get variable Ω for instrument ins.

Hello Drew, in the next tutorial, use Luna; don't promote protools. We need to make Luna popular. Also, we need bounce in place in Luna or audio suite processing in Luna.

While this isn’t an ssl plug in chat, I don’t see much use for a native version while tracking when mobile. For mixing, 100 percent. The realtime gain and impedance match are really close to the console. Closer than any other version. As it’s already a UAD plug, users would get the native version free. Spark subscribers would get native only but respectively, and I do truly mean it respectfully, would there be much money to be made with all the native ssl clones out?

I run compression before the EQ. .....There's no way to switch this around on the actual hardware?

Plenty of reasons. I use luna myself and love it but there are still a lot of functionality things missing that i am positive someday will be there!

Clearly you guys don’t understand how to leave constructive criticism which is why they aren’t listening. 2nd thing is probably can’t just release native plugins if the likeness and name is owned by other companies without working out some type of business arrangement. UA can make native plugins of hardware UA owns without consequence. All of us don’t have the same plugin library so this may be someone’s first 610 and 76 plug-in.

Upgrade price was only 50 bucks for uad 2 and native pshhh. Bought it right away

I'm sure this could be a good workflow for some people. Might be nice to run on every channel to get an overall sound. But I'd rather see some more unobtainum classics in the vein of Neve, Gates and AMS. Would love to see Quantec, Roland, Publisson and Sony reverbs. Sphere, Quad Eight and Altec preamps EQs and dynamics. I know it's weird to say altec, but the desirable models have gotten collector prices now.

Guys, please convert Neve 1073/1081 to mac native 🙏

There are nothing since Sound City. And It was before 6 months! It's good but i don't believe anyone wait for Verve espacially. Everyone waits for the legendary plugins which they could not use because they have not Apollo Hardwares. And since 2 years that Spark showed up we still can not acess Ocean Way Reverb.

I don’t understand why UA will not focus on making all UA plugins native instead of wasting time with this plugin. most of us bought UA plugins when they were way expensive and the only consolation would be for them to at least make all your plugins native..nobody needs a combination of plugins when he owns the individual plugins. If you can’t build your own signal chain as a producer, then you have no business mixing music

What's the point of this plugin? You can't even run both compressors at the same time. Wouldn't it make much more sense to put all three 1176 into one plugin where you can switch back and forth between the different versions?

I know some people don't care about these things but..... Why do ALL of the UAD plugin knobs look so cartoonish, like they were drawn with a pencil? They don't even look like they are really part of the plugin interface. The same amateur texture GUI look for the 175 & 176 plugins. By comparison, all Softube plugins look so much better and more professional. Please, bring back the old authentic Universal Audio GUI look form 2018.

Money for old rope. UAD, why don't you own up and be honest as to why you haven't added any more existing perpetual plugins to Spark? Is it because the devs for Softube and the other 3rd parties aren't going to let you compete in their own native market? It's been a long time since any releases of existing plugins on Spark, it seems to have dried up. People are waitng, tell us the truth.

SSL Channel Strip is one of my least used dsp plugins. I think the PA products sound much better. If possible I would like to sell uad one. Anyway, emulation has copyright issues. It's not easy.

​@@henrikpetersson3463 SSL Channel Strip is one of the heavier plugins among many DSP plugins. It uses more DSP than massive passive or 1073. I don't want to use that much cpu for the channel strip.

It is just a crappy plugin that combines several old plugins. If you already have the three plug-ins, there is no need to get these. I am tired of rehashing past plug-ins with just a different GUI. I continue to be disappointed with UA's recent work.

I totally agree, this is another marketing gimmick just like Verve. Old products, packaged as new for the new UA customers who never had hardware, us who have always had hardware are shifted to the curb, we have the 610 plugin for UAD-2, I have always asked myself as a plugin that's free from UA for every Apollo, why wasn't that one of the first plugins to go native? It's their flagship pre-amp but instead they pushed other pre's like the 1073, nothing against the 1073 but UA is just moving weird these days. Disappointed with this release, the precision bundle going native would've been better.

One thing to consider is, Universal Audio just got one step closer to digitizing its current hardware line... (As of this post, mid 2024) The only current one left to emulate is the 710 / 4-710D Twin-Finity, which would complete the Unison ecosystem as it relates to UA's current hardware MicPres. UA could possibly add the 8110/4110 with the 2192 converter as another Unison offering in the future, maybe as part of a plan to emulate all of the hardware they ever made, thus digitizing their entire hardware catalog, both past and present. Just things that make you go ... Mmmm ??

This is what UAD do these days, just like shitty Waves. Rehashing and relabelling existing old crap and hoping nobody will notice that and hoping nobody will mention the fact that there's a stack of perpetual plugins that just will not be on Spark, ever.
