What a great product and the fact it's made from recycled material is awesome. It might get wet when submerged, but at least it floats, and you won't lose everything. Not a bad price point for the size and what it offers. Well done with the review Dan!

Absolutely Larry - it floats like a champ! Holding it under water really pushed it. The air wants to get out when you do that and it can compromise that velcro seal. For a boat bag it's awesome! If you're shopping for one - be sure to watch a few videos. There are some guys on the net that offer a discount code for buying the bag!

I'd recommend it for that use for sure. I'll be using it on the boat. Submersion is probably pushing it past it's max use and I'd also encourage you to really roll down the top and make sure those zippers are tightly sealed. Some of the water got in due to my own operator errors. Also, be sure to look around, it's on sale but I know that there are discount codes to be had on this product.

Hey SD - I think I pushed the limits further than some of the reviewers. I'd trust it in a rain but I don't think it's really meant to be pushed under and held under water. Also, I blame myself too - I could have sealed down the roll top more and/or double-checked the zippers but in all reality - people using this bag will have to really be careful of how it's sealed up because I believe that little operator errors can make big differences to leaks, etc. I'm glad I know it's shortcomings to be honest!
Nice review thanks Dan😊

I just purchased a waterproof bag similar to this before I went on my fishing trip in the NWT last month and it worked great for me in my boat! Everything stayed dry and I could store a tonne of gear in multiple pockets! They’re definitely worth having in the boat! Great review Dan! Have a great day and weekend!

Absolutely Ryan! This is going to be my primary bag for the same application. We've been keeping lunch in it, some basic boating supplies, first aid kit, toilet paper, sun-screen etc in it and it keeps things organized and safe. With my inflatable boat, I like that there aren't any sharp edges on it too!
Dan, as always, an incredibly thoughtful and thorough review. Love that you are super transparent on these videos!

Thanks, AJ! This was a fun one. I felt I could really push the bag to its limits to test it. Some products are harder to really evaluate. It leaked, but I know I overdid it. I also think I could have rolled the top down tighter and double-checked the front zipper. There are possibly two user errors there, but it speaks to the potential faults or weak points. I'd trust it though as a boat bag or for hiking in the rain! Thanks buddy for watching along!
That is one cool pack. That is a perfect piece of kit for a boat.

Love the fact it is waterproof and I also love the recycling materials used, super cool. Looks rugged and well made and loved the zipped pockets and plenty of storage places. You sure put it through it's paces, especially the water tests, maybe not as waterproof as I initially thought but for the price point, not a bad buy for someone wanting a bag like that, cheers Alan

Absolutely! I also blame some of the leakage on me. I believe that I could have rolled down the roll top more and also more tightly which might have helped the submersion test. Also, the zipper on the front should have been double-checked to make sure it was all the way closed. However, these are two faults that the "everyday user" would likely make. Not sure if this is a fault of the bag or just an FYI to the user. Knowing it's limits, I still trust it as a boat bag or for hiking in the rain on a day hike. Thanks Alan for stopping in! 🎸
Excellent review!! I love love love its made from recycled materials! ♻️ looks like a decent bag and it floated well. I really like the adjustable chest strap, all bags should have that cause it's genius!

Hi Christina, yes the adjustable chest strap is nice. The built in whistle was cool too and I liked the loops to hang items off the straps. The recycled material is a heck of a wonderful touch too! It floats AMAZINGLY. I'd trust it for that but I think holding it under water was pretty excessive. I think almost any bag would leak under those conditions. Granted, I could likely have rolled the top tighter down and ensured the front pouch was zipped more tightly - and it may have helped a bit. I admit - I pushed this bag to the max!
Great looking pack and great review Dan !! Enjoyed your testing !! Also liked your Trappers t-shirt 👍🏼

Thanks - I tried to push this bag to the max. I think I overdid it in some regard. I don't think the average Joe would hold it under water like I did haha. Unfortunately , I had my action camera batteries in the front pouch lol, but they've since dried out. The Trappers were our Triple A baseball team based in Edmonton but they shut down in 2004. One of my favorite nostalgic tee's. My wife does all my shopping lol, I'll pass on the compliment.
It did leak completely under water but i think that’s kinda to be expected, hard to get around Velcro or zippers aspect. Looks like it would be really good in the rain though as long as you I used the main compartment. Great review 🤙😎

James - you're right! Me holding it under water is really pushing the limit. I'd say even for a few seconds, being submerged is OK. I held it a lot longer. That creates upward air pressure on the velcro which I think compromised the seal. As for the front zipper, I think if you really ensured you zipped it tight and hid it under the lip - you'd might get more success. I blame some of that leakage on my own error. That said, it highlights the importance of really being careful with this bag if you're using it in the elements. Some operator error is likely at fault. That said, I'm loving it as a boat bag. It's nice that it floats well and I'd trust it to keep items water proof in that circumstance.
Looks super cool. It is so good to have something that is really waterprof.Have a wonderful weekend.

Hey Dave - thanks for watching along. This one seems pretty decent. I do blame some operator error here - I think I could have rolled the top down tighter on the submersion test and I don't think the front zipper was fully sealed when I sprayed it with a hose. That said, I consider it an "every man" review. The things I did are probably typically done on these packs. You have to still be careful using it. I'd trust it in a rain storm or maybe if something happened briefly, but I think that the velcro seal is tough to hold up when pressured under the water for an extended period of time. It's a great pack for those rain storm uses I'd say.

Nice pack and great job on the review Dan, I liked all the water testing you did, the spray test was interesting and great to hear that the main compartment didn't leak any water in. It would be great for some light canyoneering too. Where you have water in a slot canyon

Hey Dan - I've never really float tested a back pack before. It was fun putting this bag to the test. I must admit - I think I pushed it a little far, but it's nice to know where it's limits are. I'd feel better taking it out in the woods/water knowing what it is limited to.

Absolutely! I blame some of the submersion water on me. I could have rolled the top down more (reduced the bag volume) and probably zipped up the front zipper more. That said, I'm confident the Velcro would let water in anyway. It might have just lasted longer. I think any roll top bag will eventually fail of you're holding it under water. The water wants to escape and when that happen the water goes in. There's no way around it!
You did a great job with the review. Pretty much anything will leak submerged. Even deep sea submersibles going to the titanic. I don’t think it is an issue because it floats so good. I do like the bag and I am going to get a lot of use out of mine. I didn’t know about the whistle.

I do blame some of this on me. I could have folded over that top seal more tightly to maybe help. However ,I don't think it's really meant to be held under water for extensive periods of time. I know that the air inside the bag wants to push upwards, when you do that it stresses the velcro seal and that's what let water in. The front zipper I think was 100% a ME issue. I don't think it was fully pushed all the way over to the side. However, it's a good lesson for people using it to be extra careful. The bag won't make up for one's own stupidity lol. As a bag to use in the rain, I'd endorse it. As a bag to float in case a boat flips - it's excellent. Just don't hold it under water - and you should be happy. I don't think many bags would last being held under water to be honest.... Thanks for watching Mark!
I'd love to see how it holds up after a few good uses!

Hey Jerbs - it's a nice bag for the boat. It's billed as being water proof but I think I exposed some weaknesses. I do think that if you really wrap the top down tightly and ensure all the zippers are 100% closed you'll get better results. I don't think it's meant to be held under water. That really pushed the envelope here. That said, it's a good bag for situations where the bag "might" get wet. It floats like a champ and it sheds water from a simulated rain storm.

@@DCOutdoors lol I was thinking more for my other channel
Is it waterproof without being rolled down?
@DCOutdoors
4 ай бұрын
Definitely not! You would want to roll it down. Even still - rolling down and submerging let some water in. I think if you didn't have it rolled down but just velcro'd it might keep somethings dry for a short while in a light precipitation setting, but you would really want to roll it down to ensure things are kept safe. I definitely don't recommend submerging under any circumstances. Thanks for the question though - I appreciate you watching! If you liked the video, I hope you consider subscribing!

You bet! To store things on a boat, back of a quad or even on a hike it's great! As long as you're not holding it under water for an extended period of time you'll be in good shape.
