Expediter interview and van walk through. Expediter Sleeper

Golden nugget advice at the end there. Leaving your van in an active city with loads always being pumped out... That's good
You're very decent person thank you very much for those information please be safe see you in the next video

My Promaster 1500 136" wb (two sliding side doors) has 2 E Tracks on the floor and one on each rear wall, as well as an AC/Heat unit hanging from the ceiling near the rear doors. I think it may have been used for catering! There is enough room to slide the food carriers, strap them in and have your living space behind the front seats. The foldup divider and foldup bed are genius solutions as well!
Best van I ever saw!Awesome !

I've been doing this for a few months now, have a 2018 Promaster and have been averaging 2-3 weeks out and a week home. Im also an O/O making plenty and it's nice to travel as well as be my own boss etc. Have a folding cot with a nice comfortable mattress that rolls up, have usually canned foods, bread and pb/ jelly and lunch meat etc.. saves on costs as well as no need for hotels.

How much are you grossing per week?
@RedsCustomDesign
2 жыл бұрын
If you need a weekly paycheck this isn't the job for you. You have good weeks where you may gross (that's before expenses) $5k+ and there's other weeks you may not even get a load (but you still have your fixed expenses to pay). You can average gross $80k+ depending on you, the company, the area, the loads, the price, etc. Grossing $100k is not out of the question if you are a decent runner.

Thanks for that great advice. I am in west palm beach florida. I didn't know freight isn't coming in or out of florida. Also, park my van in a hot spot and fly back to florida, then fly back to the Hotspot
Great content. Thank you. Girl Trucker here...
If you're going to drive for owner you better take 60/ 40 and you better get your fuel service charges 100% or it's not worth it... Any owner that decides he's going to keep the fuel service charges is a crook... And make sure you can get your 60% loaded on your Comdata card right away, that way you have your fuel money and your living money and also that way your fuel service Chargers end up becoming your payroll and guaranteed that coming in every week... I expedited for over 10 years.. I worked for two absolutely outstanding owners when my first owner passed away I went with somebody for 4 months from November to February... And when Freight wasn't running and I was sitting for 10 days in North Dakota in the cold he decided he was going to stop paying me... it took me almost a month to find a new owner and I wouldn't have been able to survive if the few loads that I did take I wouldn't have had my 60% loaded he kept all my fuel service charges for 4 months he owes me a little over $4,000 and I'll never see it... So you make sure you sign a contract that is binding... And always make sure that any equipment AKA your van you treat like it was yours... Keep it clean you take care of your equipment and your equipment will take care of you

Thanks. If your going to be a owner operator you will need at least $10k (up to 3 weeks fuel, Bills, and maintenance. You need to keep at least a $5k maintenance fund). And if you're looking for more information and owners to drive for (I highly recommend you to do that for 6 months before buying a van) or companies to lease to. Look up Transportation life wheels wings and rudders on Facebook and zello.
Chris, very nice build. I have one question to ask you. When you have the time can you let me know how you over road the airbag light when you removed the passenger seat? Stay safe. Tom

Chris is the van owner. I'm (Red) the one that build the van. But to answer your question. I didn't, the light is still on. But if you could find a junk seat that you can cut up to get the sensors out of it you could then plug it into the harness and alls good.
Is there alot of freight going in and out of Arizona or is it not worth getting into if you live out west? Just wondering cause I'm really interested in this. Thanks for the vid.
@RedsCustomDesign

I wouldn't say there is a lot but there is a far amount. But expediting is like truck driving, it doesn't matter were you "live" because you'll be all over. And it depends how often you "need" to be home. I know a couple people who live in AZ that Expedite. One goes home every 8 weeks or so, the other goes home when he gets that way.
Great video and setup. What kind of vehicle insurance do you have to have in order to do expediting?
@RedsCustomDesign
2 жыл бұрын
Depends on if you book your own loads, or are using multiple carriers. Then you have to carry a 1 million dollar cargo/ liability insurance. Or if you are leased to a company you can get it through them. But that depends on the company. Regular auto insurance won't be, it has to be "for hire".
How is the Max Air Fan powered? I have a Gmc Savanna cargo van with one on an auxilliary battery but have not had a good experience with it.

What is the name and model number of the AC and vent fan . Like the way you have your van set up. Do you run the AC off the inverter?? or do you have solar panels.

@RedsCustomDesign

Call some expedite companies and ask for fleet owners with open vans, expediteor on line, or if you see a van in a parking lot somewhere (if the drive is out or in the seat) ask them about the company they run for or who they drive for.
Instead of waiting around all the time couldn't you grab from the load board, so that maybe you could see that 4k to 6k a month? Just a thought
@RedsCustomDesign
3 жыл бұрын
If you had your own attorney, DOT#, your own commercial insurance, and paid to buy in so you can be able bid on the loads along with 5,000+ other people. Then yes you could try and do that. And that $4k is after expenses.
What would you say would be a good Freight lane area for expediting?

Everywhere there is freight. Depends on the time of year, the company you are with, the size of van, etc. And it's always changing.

So I see a comment about fuel charges and I want to be sure I understand this. If im an owner/ operator what should the company I work for be paying me for fuel? One company I looked into said I get a .10/.20 sure charge so that would meat that 80/90% of fuel comes out of my pocket ...correct? Any feed back would be appreciated. From what I gathered insurance price depends on your driving history, location (state you live in), your credit score, and insurance company. Some companies that you sign in to do expediting exclusively for them will put you their insurance policy for about $150 a week ($8000 a year). That is considered cheap. In some states the insurance can reach as high as $20,000 a year if you are doing it for yourself. Just check with different companies in your area or internet. This kills the profit.
