The reson I like yours videos is because they are real, original and not fake. Unlike other KZreaders they sugar coat everything to make it look perfect even do that doesn't portrait the reality of a place. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

I spent time in Ajijic earlier this year on an exploratory trip searching for a possible retirement destination. Really loved it, but those uneven sidewalks and cobblestone streets made me think twice. Sure enough, I spoke to a friend recently who bought a house there and she said she was resting at home because twisted her ankle when she fell!

Another great video! 👍 The low key vibe of Ajijic calls to me. My wife and I married young right after high school, nearly 3 decades ago, and you guys remind me a lot of us back then. It's fun to watch your adventures through that lens. As our children have grown, and we are approaching a new season of life as "empty nesters", the spark for new adventures with my beautiful bride is alive in me! Tianguis would be called a flea market in Canada too - also known as a farmer's market because of the local alimento ( estudiando Español!). It's a few blocks down from the apartment I'm renting in Ajijic :) I came here on a work visa in November 2022. Just found your channel and happy to subscribe! So glad you got to Chapala too! I love it there :) There is some nightlife in Ajijic but you have to know when and where for sure. New Years Eve here was bizarre compared to Canada :) Almost everything was closed up by 8pm! Lots of house parties though and the firecrackers in the streets at midnight. Chapala was hopping though! I stayed there for a month before moving to Ajijic for my business and I really loved the Mexican vibe there. For expats, the social life is in Ajijic. Regardless it's beautiful anywhere on the lake. I've also seen a lake in Canada rejuvenate in very little time when it's stopped being polluted by companies like Coca-Cola (evil corporation bringing environmental destruction and diabetes to the world...I digress!). Thanks for your lovely tour!

Yes, we love the Chapala and Ajijic area, which is so different from the Caribbean side of Mexico where we live. Wow really? NYE usually people in towns like Ajijic are celebrating in their houses as you describe, and the firecrackers are the thing for the kids 🤭. You really live in a beautiful area of Mexico, we will move tomorrow there if we could 🤭. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment, we really appreciate it 🙏❤️

Sadly Ajijic is overrun by so many old retired gringos many of who bring their US political baggage with them and refuse to learn the language. There is one main road thru the lakeside towns the Carretera and during the winter season Dec to March the traffic often comes to a complete standstill. Chapala is a better choice, bigger town and less expensive if you want to get out of the expat bubble in Ajijic.

  • @ForTheRoadTravels

The 'ex-pat bubble' of Ajijic is ideal for people simply looking for a more affordable cost of living - it's a shame that not many people try to learn the language, but as an ex-pat myself, I will recognize that language learning at an older age is not very easy 🤷🏻‍♀️ We didn't actually know it got so busy over those months - thanks for the tip 😊😊

Great video! I love street markets and it's such a colorful town. A friend of mine lived in Ajijic for a while but left because of the polluted lake as she said it was not beneficial for her health. I wonder if they could clean the lake and make it healthy again.

Hey Cindy 🤗🤗 There were so many gems at this particular market - especially the very delicious and inexpensive berries 🙌🙏 That's such a shame, it's really such a perfect little town to live in, but if her health was compromised due to the lake, then it's totally understandable that she left 🤭😊 One would really hope so. We have seen with Bacalar here in The Riviera Maya, how its less and less blue each year because of all the boats and the fact that sewerage runs directly into the water 🙃🙃 One day all those tourism dollars aren't going to look so enticing when all our resources are depleted 🫤🫤 Thank you so much for watching Cindy, we're sending you a big virtual hug 🤗🥰
