» ABOUT THE GAME - X4: Foundations is a space simulation where players can explore a vast universe, trade goods, build and manage space stations, and engage in space combat. The game offers player agency, offering an expansive sandbox where players can choose their path, whether as a trader, builder, explorer, or combat pilot. It is a very complex game so the series will be a mix of tutorial and Let's Play making the game accessible for new players.
» ABOUT THE MINISERIES - X4 Foundations is a slow burn game meaning it takes quite a long time to do anything of consequence. I'm playing the Young Gun scenario with no DLCs or mods. The goal of this series is to showcase the game as much as I can in the allotted time. As a Tutorial/Let's Play hybrid I'll be focusing on showing as many facets of the game rather than solely focusing on a single goal. I'll also be interspersing game tutorials when the tutorial becomes relevant to the series as well.
» NO SPOILERS / NO BACKSEATING - The story and mechanics of this games are best enjoyed as they are discovered, not spoiled, so no spoilers in the comments please. "i'm bad at clearing mines" nah, you're good at it. it's keeping your hull intact that needs a spot of improvement. i mean texting and driving is bad already, but holy paranid god my insides twisted around when you opened the map while cruising straight into that minefield :D

As a tutorial stream, I feel you missed a great moment in, atleast explaining, how one can play as an early-game pirate, whether you'd want to/be able to or not is another matter. Clearing the ships from minefields; take out the mines closest to the ship requiring assistance, make sure the player ship can get close enough to scan while leaving atleast one mine active. If a miner/trader shows up as holding a lot of goods, those items are (not always, but very often) worth more than the mission itself. If this be the case, damage the ship to about 50-40% hull (without direct fire, one can place some mines near the ship, fly to a safe distance, and blow up your own mines), comm them, and have them surrender. If they don't surrender; Continue mission (assuming one does not fire directy at the ship). If the do surrender; Fly over in your suit and pilot the ship to the nearest jump point (police in current sector might be hostile for about 10 minutes as you basically stole a ship, so preparing to leave immediately is usually a good choice). Might lose 1-2 points of rep, but that's easily earned back by trading those goods, if trading with the faction that owned the ship. Love the game, looking forward to the next episode. Hope this wasn't a one-and-done stream.

Its a tutorial for general gameplay, not for every possible way to treat it as a sandbox. Trying to demonstrate all the possibilities in this game isn't a reasonable thing to attempt in a single stream.
