    Best expanders for me are the bait tech ones gotta pump then but they hold there shape brilliant and the fish meal smell they give off is awesome

    Nice one John. Seen a similar video on Winning Ways Extra Rich Chapman and he used glycerine.

    I saw that, rich adds the glycerin at the soaking stage, which gives longer lasting hookers.

    wouldn't it be cheaper/easier/quicker to just use sonubaits pro expanders which sink out the bag in water?

    Easier not sure about cheaper, 😊👍. I didn't tout this as a cheaper or easier approach, just different and Interesting one😊👍

    Great video mate - something to try for sure. Will you still feed micros and fish one of these over it or will you feed the oil pumped pellets instead?

  • @AverageAngler

    You can do either I have been feeding oiled expanders this time of year you feed so little that it's not worth soaking micros😊

    Just wondering if preparing large amounts could they be frozen after being pumped with oil ? Great idea by the way!

    I really don't know, I don't think you even need to chill them if I'm honest they will keep. Just keep them dry😊

    Great tip will these stand a cast just hooked straight on the hook for feeder fishing? years ago there was a guy who made some paste that could be rolled into a small ball and fished on the hook to mimic the micro pellet feed on the pole, I copied this and hair rigged a tiny line stop or even half a line stop and moulded stiff paste round it,fished on the feeder on hard days small cage feeder some fine groundbait and a pinch of micros in feeder. This worked extremely well on hard days during cold weather and caught small fish and even large carp large bream and tench, not a bagging method but great on hard winter matches especialy on venues that see .micros being fed all year round. The principal being the fish didn't get caught on the tiny hook baits so hoovered them up while ignoring larger pellets.A tiny ball of stiff paste on a hair size 18 or 16 eyed hook will stay on the hair for a long time i have reeled in after 5 minutes or more and still had the paste bait on the hair.

    If you hair rig then some expanders can survive a cast, will depend on brand of expander and how you soak them etc

    Great idea John, how long do you think they would last in the bag in the fridge?

  • @AverageAngler

    They will last a good while, I don't think you need to keep them in a fridge either. I just keep them dry😊.

    Not sure Ray, try a small batch and see😊👍. I suspect a few different oils might work. 🤞

    You add 2or3 caps full of flavor to water then pump you don't need that amount of flavor bro

  • @AverageAngler

    @AverageAngler

    I'm not interested in the flavour if you pump with oil then just soak in water they are tougher and better hookers🙂👍
