I miss when everyone was on a disk. I hate how you buy a disk and you still have to install the game. that’s why I bought the disk.

Hopefully there’s an update to let us play ps5 games on the external drive. It’s just ridiculous

Because Playstation wants to become a controller company. I can't believe anyone fell for it this generation, by next generation maybe people will wake up and realize that the kind of gaming experience they're advertising has been on PC for 15 years. They need to just sell controllers to PC gamers if they can't provide room for more than 5 games.

Until I find a SSD higher then 8TB the PS5 now has over 100 games not enough for 4TB with this plus premium membership there are just to many games I can’t install

I decided to forgo the internal SSD upgrade and use a 8 TB external HD from Seagate. It in fact holds and plays PS5 games as well as PS4. 😉👍 I now only have one PS5 game on the internal, COD, and it’s there so it runs better. I have little over 300GB left on internal for incidentals such as apps and screenshots.

in 2022 Sony has announced that it is possible to hook up an M.2 NVMe PCIe GEN4 and above only GEN 4 is supported I tried Gen 3 but it did not work. not to mention that Gen 4 is almost double the price of Gen 3

I'm late to the party but, I pulled my 500g hard drive out of my PS4 and bought an external hard drive enclosure from Amazon for $10. Now my PS4 games are on there and I'm only out $10. Works perfectly and took me 5 minutes total.

Since you can’t run two externals at the same time you’ll have to transfer them back to games storage then to the new external.

Gonna get a PS5 in the coming weeks. Has Sony updated the system to where you can play PS5 games on the external drive or no??

No that’s impossible otherwise it would defeat the purpose of sonys goal to have faster load times u can store ps5 games but not play em from external drive

Replying from a year later and sony has allowed us to use the M.2 internal storage drive now. Wooot...super easy to install too.

it cannot be bricked. it just reformatted them to different scheme which is suitable for ps5, if you want to use it again with windows or macos then reformat to correct scheme back

You can have more than one external drive BUT you can only use one at a time.👍

Two questions: 1.Where would I find a 2TB SSD that supports my PS5? 2. Second, you say only ps5 games can be played when stored on the internal hard drive, however, you have the option of transferring them to external when need be. Continuing on that note, now, let's say I have the ps4 version of Miles Morales, which also supports ps5. I have the ps4 version downloaded on the external, usually if its on the internal, I would have the option of playing it in a ps5 version on my console, will that still be possible via the external drive? Hopefully my question came out clear....

You will still be able to play if it's ps4 version u can you play it from the external hard drive or SSD ( which ever u have ) however if you upgrade it too the ps5 version u can only play it on your internal storage and not from your external imo if you really wanna make best of uses with the external is get an 8tb HDD and use it as a cold storage for ps5 games great way to save and manage space and yes the 8tb HDD aren't alot you can get them for 100 quid n stuff

I was trying to figure out how to make room in my ps5 when I remembered about my ps plus subscription, gives you 100 GB of cloud storage, so I transferred all my saved data from my ps5 to the cloud and right away ps5 started installing god of war ragnarok!!!

Sony needs to get rid of that "you can't play PS5 games off external drives" horseshit. I don't care what needs to happen. 667 GB is not enough for more than 10 games if you're lucky especially when your console keeps eating away at that space for system functions. It's the stupidest thing Sony has done yet.

By from Stockx or EBay or Facebook Market Place. It’s literally people that has them that just want money. If you don’t want to pay the price then you just miss out. Sony already said they not sending or making anymore cuz of the chip shortage. Why you think info about the PS5 Pro is starting to break out.

@@rafaelyousef8281 the only solution is to use external storage and move the games you don't currently feel like playing to it and install the new ones. Then when you want to play those games again you need to transfer games from the internal storage on the hard drive and the games you wanna play onto the internal again

External drive can store and play PS4 games. It can also just store PS5 games but you cannot play them from the external. I had a lot of ps4 games so I'm basically using an external for all those games.

PlayStation really making me wish I had a pc 😭

Sony is now making gamers pay storage which they did with ps4 500GB hard drive and ps5s 825GB. With the current food and energy sky high prices gamers shouldn't be paying for extra storage so Sony should give us 2TB hard drive in every ls5. It gets me angry when I run out of space on ps5. Ps5 is a superb console and wonderful controller but come on its storage size is terrible. Horizon forbidden west is almost 100GB to install. Sony needs to grow up and give gamers a 2TB hard drive.

Before ps5 came out I worried about its storage size and its just stupid they give a small hard drive. Red dead redemption 2 takes over 100GB to 8nstall. Gamers shouldn't buy ps6 as they should wait for pro version with bigger storage. Ah well I'm only buying games I like for example The last of us crash bandicoot Yomb raider Uncharted Metal gear solid plus Rwsident evil. Games well worth playing.
