Her technique is terrible so that affect her support and resonance(for that her high notes sometimes sound like screams) and her low notes/low registers are very bad. She have a beautiful voice and she have potential, but she have to improve, especially in her technique(the most important thing).

Simply because SM has SYSTEMATICALLY been training their trainees the right way. I would not go into depth analyzing other companies’ approaches but vocally they basically either teach the trainees how to reach high notes through lots of strain, or value stylistic choices over proper singing technique (aka “swag” singing in YG, “half air half sound” in JYP, just to name a few) At least in SM when you’re trained in vocal, they are gonna teach them the proper way. That’s why SM groups or soloists have been consistently being some of the most competent vocalists in Kpop - Lina (The Grace), Junsu (TVXQ), Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung (Super Junior), Taeyeon (SNSD), Jonghyun (SHINee), Luna (f(x)), Jongdae (EXO), Wendy (Red Velvet). They also have tons of above average vocalists as well, such as Dana (The Grace), BoA (soloist), Jaejoong (TVXQ), Zhoumi (Super Junior M), Jessica, Seohyun (SNSD), Jinki, Taemin (SHINee), Kyungsoo, Baekhyun (EXO), Taeil (NCT). If we were to sit down and list all of the above average to competent to great vocalists in Kpop, more than half of them would be from SM.

My suho, I still wait for the day when people realize that his voice is main vocalist material, I almost never see people talking about suho when they talk about exo vocalist, i feel that his vocals are a little irrelevant considering how good it is. On the other hand my favorite voice of exo is D.O's, but I was sure that God chen was going to be in the first place, in fact, all in exo are vocal gods, even the last place had a good score, conclusion, stan exo. According to me, xiumin is the most underrated member as a vocalist. I mean he can hit high notes, he is stable. And also in an episode of weekly idol, he hit high notes better than baek and chen. I don't know much about technical aspects, but i had to say this. +(my bias is baek so uhmmm... Nah)

Kpop Love Xiumin can hit higher notes than Chen and Baek but not “better”. Xiumin’s technique is much weaker than the 2 of them. Even though I agree that Xiumin is an amazing singer and very underrated, he is nowhere near Chen or Baek. Their technique, emotion, stability, breath control, vibrato is just unreal.

curry curren the only thing, i don’t quite understand is what vocal projection is. i was in choir, but all they cared about was getting the right tone, & maintaining the notes, so you can say, i sing, but i only sing for fun.

rosyshs Vocal projection is just the ability to sing at a specific volume regardless of how high or low the note is.(it is not an easy thing to acquire since you naturally sing louder when singing higher and quieter when singing lower)

In my opinion, Do Kyungsoo should be in 2nd place. In terms of technique, he has the best technique among the rest, having those perfect vocal runs, and consistent with a lot of breath support. Not in a negative way, but I think he's better than Baekhyunm

D.O.’s tone rating should be 100000/10

Kyungsoo is a stronger vocalist than Baekhyun. One of the most agile vocalist in Kpop, vocal runs with great speed and note precision. Second strongest mixed voice in EXO after Chen, the only one who has ever supported Bb4’s, yet the support in his overall mixed range is inconsistent due to jaw tension, overly chesty mix, high larynx. Barely explored upper register and yet to produce a connected headvoice, got support down to D3 in lower range. Baekhyun got the 3th strongest mix in EXO, support up to G#4/A4, Kyungsoo and Baekhyun have always been neck to neck within the F4-G#4 range,with most recently being quite even in this range, but Kyungsoo is SLIGHTLY better in supporting A4/Bb4. If Kyungsoo struggles with his chesty mix, Baekhyun’s problem is his heady and throaty mix. Baekhyun got support down to C#3, and the most relaxed falsetto in the EXO vocal trinity, he’s still yet to consistently produce a connected headvoice tho. He also has the most pitch issues in EXO vocal line due to not lifting up his soft palate at times. He has better agility than Chen, but at times still produces sloppy runs on more complicated or faster runs.

having Baekhyun, Chen and Kyungsoo as the main vocals should be considered bullying. even the rappers and the dancers of EXO could easily give other leads and subs a huge run for their money. hence according to my calculations EXO has the highest percentage of exceptionally proficient and skilled vocalists. each and every one has clearly mastered the basics of vocal training. anyone that refuses to see that is just simply delusional and refuse to accept that there’s a group out there that’s better than their faves, especially in the vocal aspect. all in all, Baekhyun is my all-time favorite vocalist not just in EXO but in the entire music industry. he’s not just a vocal prodigy but also an incredibly versatile vocalist that can effortlessly blend his voice regardless of the music genre. his vocal color and tone is everything and he’s still working on further improving his skills despite being one of the top vocalists in the game.

This is by far one of the vocal analysis video that I agree to the most. I personally think the gap between D.O. and Suho should be little bit larger though - I would give slightly lower score to Suho and higher to D.O. but I second most of your comment, thanks for making this :)

U really think, but,can D. O do high notes? Be realistic, u can say music isn't just a high notes, but then, those who always when in any music competition, always choose with higher notes. And audiences always get crazy with higher notes, u can't just say, music isn't always high notes, but its more and most important in any music or any musical performance. High notes bring more good singers such Whitney Houston, Marsh Carey, and even Ariana Grande, etc that are famous for higher notes. U can't just say D. O is better than Baekhyun, when D. O can't and passed on the lines to Baekhyun, why he is #2 because he can sing high notes besides of angelic voice, etc. No way D. O can be better than Baekhyun as he can sings varieties of notes, vocals, etc. I listens both and of course all EXO members. Not good that u only listens D. O., duh! Those who dont know Jongdae's emotional voice may have not listened to his masterpiece 2 album songs, sorry guys I havent heard such a rollercoster of emotion delivery not just in kpop but as a whole ,and the thing I liked about his voice most is his outstanding emotional delivery . His tone is very rich ,versatile , from powerful to very soft melting voice, versatility in genres, talent in outstanding powerful highnotes ,but having the best lower register as a tenor among kop. When I fell for him for the first time after listening to everytime I didnt know he is such a great vocalist but I felt he is outstanding at delivering emotions.It's your right to prefer whatever tone you prefer ,but dont spread false information that his voice is not emotional when you havent listen to him at all, dont limit him to an techniqual pro. His beautiful goodbye itself is such an evidence of his emotional delivery ,how much it became loved by the general public . This annalysis is great very unbiased .

How can people say he is underrated? He gets lots of support in awards from Exo-Ls and in his solos. He is really quite but he is one of the members with more screentime in shows and MVs and who has more solos activities. SM always promotes him and fans always are hyping his activities.

Suho is my favorite vocally. Though not as explosive as that of the other members, his voice is the most stable even while dancing. I have not really heard his voice cracked. #WeAreOneExO #TeamExO

Can we just all agree that exo are the vocal kings of kpop

Love the ranking but there are a few things I don't agree with: 1. D.O's tuning needs to be a 10, to be as agile as D.O your sense of pitch needs to be nothing less than a 10. 2. Chanyeol's tuning needs to be higher, I think he is naturally the second most agile voice after Kyungsoo. 3. Suho is a great singer and he is improving every day but he is not that consistent to be given such a high score in stability. 4. Lay's Stability should also be higher. Aside from these, it is a pretty solid analysis.

Amazing vocal indeed. Most of EXO members can be main vocal in other groups. Even their visual are amazing to. I'm sure that every member would be main visual in other groups.

Even the worst vocalist still passes a 5/10 xD and it just jumped to 7s after kai Shows exos are vocal kings of kpop!

I saw a American music producer doing a reaction to EXO and he said that even the sub vocalists are good enough to be main singers in any other group besides EXO (take that as you will). I have a few differences of opinion with you about a few things but one area I 100% agree with you is that Xiumin is extremely underrated. I will go a step farther and say for his dancing too in addition to his singing and no he isn’t my bias, just calling it like I see it.

I became an EXOL only after hearing Chen’s high note. He is person who make me to do so. And i love to hear his voice like every member in EXO. We all know EXO members are great fans of Chen’s singing. I am missing our Angel.

If you watch Lay’s new performances he also improved a lot. I’m so proud of EXO, they never rely on popularity, always working hard and improving to show us their better side.

Baekhyun is my favourite tone in Exo too, I really like his voice and he always surprise me with his high notes and of course Chen can do a higher notes and like sing effortlessly but there is something special about Baekhyun's voice 😌😌😌 so proud of EXO

Yes! EXO vocal ranking😍

Of course everybody knows how amazing the exos are individually, but I believe that what does them vocally hard to beat is all the harmonization they do when singing. They are a very noisy group if you look carefully... There's always someone complementing the other member voice, doing a run or adlib... That's why is not that easy to cover an exo song. It's necessary all members contributing to the song gets perfect. I've seen some EXO's covers and I do appreciate how other groups work hard to perform and delivery the best presentation, but the point is not only about the choreo and the main vocals lines, but how all the group help each other. All the groups that are vocally powerful take care of this kind of things, they try to improve all members voices, not only the main vocals. Shinee, BTOB and Pentagon are good examples of it.

i haven’t heard baekhyun’s voice crack lately, though, only in the earlier years. anyways his voice has always been my favorite in group, probably my most favorite voice in the world now. btw this is a great video! 💗

But i like DO style very much. Kind of R&B. Waiting for his solo.

My favorite voices in EXO are KYUNGSOO AND CHANYEOL'S 💖

The thing with EXO is that they are all vocally gifted with different textures. One of the reasons they are vocal kings. The only group comparable to them about vocals is TVXQ back when they were 5. All 5 of them are vocal gods knowing they were supposed to be a band. SuJu has 3 vocals but Yesung's range is like Suho's and Suho is just lead vocals. The vocals trinity Chen, Baekhyun and D.O the textures of their voices are different. Chen goes for highest notes close to being whiny, Baekhyun also hitting those notes with smoothly and D.O with his rnb vibe also hitting those notes more solid with riffs and runs. Then come Suho and Lay with velvety voice and Xiumin with buttery texture. Suho, Lay and Xiumin could be main vocals in other groups. Xiumin is underrated in XO but he shines in CBX. Same wih Lay with his solo now glad he gets to shiwcase his ability and also Suho's new solo album. Even rappers SKY their vocals have different textures. Chanyeol's vocals is like cinnamon while Sehun's is like honey while Kai is like ginger. Sehun's vocals fit for trot and classic style. I like to hear him sing more. That's why What a Life is a gift. He gets to show his vocal ability. Cant wait for Sehun's solo. Go is a glimpse of what he is capable of as soloist.

I know I've commented like a couple of times in this vid, but idk if I've ranked them, so here is my ranking : 1. Chen [A2/Bb2 ~ A4 (Starting to support Bb4 now, I'm crying rn his enlistment ;-;)] 2. Kyungsoo [D3 ~ A4/Bb4] 3. Baekhyun [C#3 ~ G#4/A4] 4. Suho [a bit Shallow Eb3/E3 ~ Eb4] 5. Chanyeol [still very inconsistent B2/C3 ~ C4] 6. Xiumin [also still very inconsistent E3 ~ Eb4/E4 (?)] 7. Lay [N/A] 8. Kai [N/A] 9. Sehun [N/A]

For me...BAEK, D.O and CHEN are equal...they are all a GOD of vocals and they're proving it, they have a unique and rare styles in vocals, they're also all rounders in terms of it...BAEK octaves are still the best that I've ever heard, he can hit highnotes and do falsettos very well... KYUNGSOO's versatility and controls can make his voice really amazing, he is the most versatile voice among EXO and he can also control low notes That's more amazing than hitting high notes...CHEN's high ranges notes and powerful voice can hit you in his whole performances and that'll make all things indeed... EXO's main vocal lines have they're own positions in vocals that can make them so comfortable... KYUNG- low ranges king BAEK-medium ranges king, and; CHEN-high ranges king... It's their vocal position that can make them so comfortable...but one more thing about them who can amazed me is...all of them can do both low, medium and high ranges, but when in terms in capabilities....they are the best in their own positions... EXO'S main vocal lines are the best indeed❤️

Love how they’re all above a 5/10 and Lay who is 7th is already above a 7/10

I would have definitely picked Suho, now that I've heard his solo album. He's just crazily talented, it's a shame he doesn't get to show off his range in EXO songs. I wish people would point out the fact that he works as hard as any others vocalists in his group. Do listen to EXO' 'The Eve' performance from their Elxyion Japan concert if you have time, you'll know what i'm talking about. I'm not even an EXO-L, but i still recognise his talent!

That is also what I think. I just love his voice. I believe with the quality of his voice, he can do more. I hope in his next album he can show us more of his voice's versatility. But his Self-Portrait album is already a masterpiece. It is classy , fine and timeless.

I don’t know if you’ve ever watched the performance of 살다가 but you really should. Xiumin does an amazing high note there that would’ve been nice if you included here
