Still probably my fave EXO song after all these years - the mixture of hip-hop, heavy rock riffs and choral vocals just work like gangbusters. Also, that shot of him summoning the phoenix at 5:19 is still a better effect than a lot of shit you see on TV and in movies today.

Actually having subgroups is nothing unusual in kpop... there are many groups who have one (or more) subgroups^^ they can try out different genres or sing in different languages (ex. Exo K in korean, Exo M in mandarin)...that way they can get more fans
