Exhaust Pipe Expander

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Exhaust pipes don’t always fit together as they should, often the mufflers are manufactured by a different source than the rest of the pipes and can be difficult to fit together. Mark Simpson explains the use of a exhaust pipe expander and how it can be used to stretch pipe openings or fix damaged pipe ends.

Widen the end of the pipe that pointed TOWARDS the engine that way the exhaust gasses funnel into the new pipe catching the gas and sound MUCH better and it will last much longer. [Engine]>---- >---- >-------- [muffler]--- 👆 Say this is the newpiece

So the problem is that you're not actually showing how "easy" it is to expand a stainless steel pipe or what type of leverage you need in order to do so.

Hi Art-Inox, The expander used in this video is a "Lisle 32500 Tailpipe Expander". They are available at many auto parts stores and online here's one online source: www.jbtoolsales.com/lisle-32500-tailpipe-expander-1-5-8-2-7-16/ Mark Classic Car Restoration Club Video Membership

Hi, Threads can gall when extreme force is applied, the high pressure grease prevents friction from developing and damaging the threads. Mark Classic Car Restoration Club

That pipe expander is a piece of crap , you USUALLY only get 2-3 uses out of it , even greased the center bolt still strips. You would be better of purchasing or renting a LYSLE (lial) 17350. Sorry , just gotta be honest !

@@mathieugendron5865 That tool cost a $hit load of money. What's needed is something that the average DIYer can afford.

Go to the auto parts store and loan one. Let them take the cost of the abuse of this tool. You spend money there anyway

Heat the pipe to cherry red first, even a professional tool risks tearing the pipe when it's cold.

I have this exact tool. It didn't expand 2" pipe at all. Use too much force like a 1/2" impact gun and the fingers of the tool get all cock-eyed and still did not expand the pipe. Garbage tool IMHO.

This demonstration is incorrect. See the segmented portion of the tool with the rubber o-rings surrounding it? That portion needs to go INSIDE of the pipe.
