Exeter Trial 2023 - Simms Hill
Ойын-сауық
A few clips from Simms Hill at the Exeter Trial 2023. Sorry about the twigs in the way, it was a hard to get a clear view. There are a couple of slo-mos which I’m not that happy with but I left them in anyway - enjoy!

It amazes me, that the first idea that comes to the mind of the fella that restores a come is let's run it up a muddy hill, and I for one totally agree, by far the most fun Motorsport I've seen in a good while.

Many of these are specially modified for trialling - lots of ingenuity!

Form follows function, but form matters 😊
I just love the way the little 200cc Tiger Cub chugs its way up the hill with no fuss and causing no damage to the course whatsoever.
One can almost smell the burnng rubber and aching clutch through the video! A great British motorsport and good clean mucky fun for all the family!
Great show guys, thanks

The Avenger is heavily modified and the driver very experienced. He’s a legend of this event
Used to watch these as a child great to see their still being held 55 yes later
This is awesome love this sport just wish that they would make electic cars like these bad boys power nowadays

An electric would probably do very well, being that they usually have separate motors on each wheel, the electronics could regulate power to the wheel with the most traction.
Madness
Great to see these cars used (and driven pretty hard!) instead of just decorating some rich blokes garage. The bouncing and rocking of the passengers seems to be extremely effective, not so much on traction, but more so on making them look like loons! Good stuff!!

most of em are trans activists, or loons
This would be a challenge in my 4Runners and fully locked F-350, that muddy hill is no joke.

Worth checking their website www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/mcc-events/ I think the closest to you may be Edinburgh
Looks great fun, are they allowed to weld diffs solid or is that cheating. Surprised to see so many 'classics' being thrashed to within an inch of their lives. Really liked the grey Ford Pop, Grandad had exactly the same, called it 'upsy' and used to say "down upsy". I should have bought it from him in 1969 when he gave up driving. Trouble is I was only 12 at the time. Ended up selling it for £15 !!!!!!!!

ah the Ford Pop is a great little car. As for differentials, no mods are required - the regulations for the this form of trialling do not allow welded diffs, limited slip diffs and even restrict tyre selection. So the skill is with the driver, and their willing passenger often seen bouncing in the back (which works!). You can see cars jacked up and for RWD with extra tyres over the rear to improve traction - its a great fund event to watch with lots of ingenuity on show. I understand the surprise about thrashing classics - the event was originally a reliability trial for contemporary bikes and cars and I guess lots of people still treat as just that, keeping the vehicles of that period. I wouldn't take my MGB up the hill, the respray cost far too much to risk any scratches!

I'm so intrigued by those cars what cars are those🤔🤔
It looks like some of the road in in spring time Northern Saskatchewan. Nobody goes anywhere here unless they have heavily modifies vehicles. Ordinary street cars and poser 4x4 vehicle a at only good here between the months of May to early October.
Mobil keren👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
5:05 two passengers allowed? or is that dependent upon class?

Good question - I think you are free to take as many passengers as you like - you can check the regs here www.themotorcyclingclub.org.uk/the-exeter-trial/

can anyone tell me why do some cars have to stop on a hill when other carry on.
@timexironman100m
Жыл бұрын
Some cars have limited slip differential others do not the ones which stop don't have the limited different the cars two driven wheels slip and then the wheel with least resistance gets the power but hard to drive with one driving wheel thus car stops.

Gees what's the world coming too! Good cars, a couple collectables, some vintage even. Thrashed to death! But the English? I expect this carry on from those crazy rich yanks, but the English. The centre of common sense, civility and everything appropriate. I find this so disappointing. Britain was the beacon, in an otherwise dark and mad world. God Save The King. Kiwi

How lovely and refreshing to witness an English crowd. Polite and appreciative. Getting sick of North American attitudes.
