My german shepherd loves going off lead. The problem is there are so many little demon dogs around that go crazy when she goes near them... then there's the owners, worse than their dogs!

Many times the dog reflects the personality of their owner just like a child learns from their parents. Snobbish and annoying people often have aggressive and annoying dogs. Depending on the ques you show to others the dog will treat them the same way. Your dog is calm because you are calm

Just yesterday I brought my german shepherd on a walk in a strictly on leash park. She’s really dog reactive because she got attacked when she was a puppy but she’s at a point now where she will mostly ignore the other dogs so long as they don’t bark or get too close to her. So we’re walking and this little yorkie runs up out of nowhere with this man on a leash asking “hey is your dog friendly? Can my dog say hi to your dog? She’s really friendly with other dogs, so she just wants to meet everyone”. So when my dog was straining to have self control and I was trying to get her away from the situation, I just said “no” and this guy goes “oh. ok. That’s too bad”. What was too bad? That my dog has enough of a bond and respect for me that she didn’t immediately put your dog on the ground? I don’t get people

Best way honestly, take them into a public space with lots of noise and distractions, and walk them on a choke collar, make them obey commands, it makes them have to think hard, wipes out my golden after 30min. Otherwise she’ll chase a ball for hours. Trust me.

It is. Even my rescue working line gsd has the tiniest bit of a slope and wobbly legs when she’s tired. She’s an amazing dog and looks better than most gsd’s, which is sad because she looks worse than my other dogs. Just people wanting aesthetics for shows

I train my dog agility and it si soo cool to see how far she has come

Best GS are the ones from DDR lineage. Expensive, especially if trained for protection.

I have one...so different in temperament like going from a mini to ferrari! Ive had 3gsd in the past...ddr from czech republic is my last. Super clever and great body with straight back.

Take often on walks, introduce them to new things carefully and reward! you can see if any of your friends with trained dogs would liek to meet up and introduce your dog with theirs slowly.

Always take them for a walk and try to speak to them, you can train them all by yourself if you're patient enough

At a distance with no contact. Or with trusted dogs on leash in controlled environment...not in parks or busy walking tracks with off leash dogs. Take your puppy around people but dont let people pat puppy especially kids...always on leash. Dont start with busy places unless at a distance...gradually get closer over time watching stress signals as your cue

Dog Parks are not safe for one not every one properly trains or social thier dog and another dog could go after your dog and it could lead into fight and for 2 not every one takes thier dog to the vet and gets their dog shots and if another dog is sick it can make your dog sick and if another dog has worms your dog could get the parasite it's not worth the risks in it if you want to properly social your puppy doggy daycare is the safest way to do that And then you can meet other dog paw parents and make puppy Play dates it's so much safer that way

Dog parks aren't really safe some people bring a untrained dog or a aggressive dog in that could hurt your dog, not only that yes u can get your dog shots but unfortunately they can still catch things like distemper or a parasite my breeder told me they are not safe the safest way to socialize a puppy is by a training classes with other puppies In it and Doggy daycare because all the dogs are being trained and they all have to have proof of shots they need a clean bill of health and they have to have a sweet temperament or they can't go I have a cane Corso and a Presa canerio and a German shepherd, my dog's are very well trained and socialized they are involved in different activities and they go to doggy daycare twice a week since they were puppies it's very important to socialize a puppy but it's very important to make sure it's in a safe environment, they have dog sports they have protection work dog showing that's what I have my dog's in because they are working line breed of dogs they need a job to do it keeps them from getting bored plus it keeps up with thier training because mastiff breeds are very strong and powerful and they can be stubborn training is never ending socializing is never ending but I love my dog's so much I really wished people would do Thier research before they just picked out a dog because every breed is different some need more training and socializing then other breeds, can you imagine a untrained dog like that In a dog park it would rip some one dog apart it's a risks every time they go through that fence with Thier dog , it's sad what I also do is I make doggy playdates with the dogs my dog's grew up with so they can play but everyone is safe doggy daycare don't cost that much it's well worth spending the few dollars on and puppy training classes are not that expensive when you do group puppy sessions of course u need to get private training with a good training but to start socializing and desensitizing a new puppy is the most important thing any one can do for thier new puppy , I hope that information helped you if you have a dog please find a safe way for your fur baby to have fun with other dogs just please watch out for dog parks I would hate anything to happen to your dog my dog's are like my children I would be devastated if any thing ever happened to them I do sacrifice alot and I denicate everything I have to do it right because I want to be responsible with my dog's and I want to give them Thier best lives possible

Other crazy untrained dogs off leash.....my puppy was bitten in face at dog park. Now shes extremely dog reactive

Yes sir if you see this message I don't know if you've ever been asked this question but we got a German shepherd puppy full blooded 1st one. But we also currently have a six-year-old lab what is the best way to introduce feeding them together. I tried for the 1st time today and made the mistake of not having one on the leash I let the puppy get near the lab when eating to see what she would do and also so she could learn however when the lab tried to I've tried to make her get away I think a part of her tooth scraped and cut my puppy's nose. Our puppy is 4 months 33 pounds so she's not exactly time you worship exactly tiny where she can't be near the lab. Any advice would be appreciated

I swear dog parks used to be better. But maybe that’s just me. I never heard of anything negative back 15 yrs ago. But now it seems like everyone has some terrible experience.

@@Msow32 All it takes is one dog to show there domanice at the wrong time and things can go bad quick. That's why I film my dogs going on adventures in the Colorado mountains not to many things I have to worry about up there and they have a blast

My brother is a newly owner of a GSD/pit bull mix , about 4 months old, his name is Bandit & he’s just the cutest. The problem is that we always had smaller dogs in our lives that required less work/maintenance so having a GSD is a huge change. Although my brother has been busy these past few months w/ work, I do my best to take care of Bandit by playing fetch in the back yard, tug of way w/ a rope & horse playing w/ him using a pillow or one of his toys yet, he has a lot more energy to spend. I would try to take him out on walks but we go about half a block or just down the street & he would start freaking out after hearing other dogs barking behind their fences, cars passing by, someone mowing their lawn etc that he just gets anxious & starts dragging me the same way we just came in hopes of avoiding what he fears but I don’t want him to be scared. I just know I have a lot of work cut out for me but it’s okay bc I’m willing to put in the time & work to give my little bandit the loving life filled w/ people that love him & it’s my responsibility as much as my brothers to give him a happy life

Actually it can be good to have a dog walk slowly next to you as they have to think and concentrate on being disciplined and gsd's really enjoy this. At the same time yes they love going mental (plus dog is panting quite heavily so I would expect it's already had a run around/physical exercise)

That's the main reason why I'm hesitant. All these GOD'S have these weak hips and legs. They always walk like they have issues. I have an import on the line but want to see parents move but guy doesn't have videos. I'm not going to spend that amount of money to pay for surgery
