This unique exercise is found only in Asai karate. In order to strengthen the balance ability, you need to kick your hands twice with the same leg.
Let me explain:
Starting position: Shizentai 自然体 with one of your hands held out high (minimum face height). For this explanation, I will have the left hand out.
Step 1: Mae geri 前蹴り and hit the left hand with your right foot.
Step 2: Snap back your foot but keeping off the floor and make 180 degrees rotation.
In this case, you will rotate clockwise now facing 6 o'clock direction. Simultaneously, switch the hands. Now the right hand is held out at your face level.
Step 3: Kick the right hand with the same (right) foot, and return to Shizentai (you are facing 6 o'clock). Keep the right hand held up high.
Step 4: Kick the right hand with your left foot.
Step 5: Snap back your foot but keeping off the floor and make 180 degrees rotation.
This time you will rotate counter clockwise and you will face 12 o'clock direction. Simultaneously, switch the hands. The left hand is held out at your face level.
Step 6: Kick the left hand with the same (left) foot, and return to Shizentai (you are facing 12 o'clock). Keep the same hand held up in front of your face.
These are the steps to do two legs. You will continue these steps to practice both right and left leg kicks. I suggest you will do minimum ten sets (2 kicks by right foot and 2 kicks by left foot).
Be sure to keep the foot off the floor between the two kicks. This is to develop your balance with 180 degree rotation.
