Amazing...Obviously German Engineering...But at 20 lakhs exshowroom it's slightly expensive. Such a great prouduct should be manufactured in India... Or atleast this should be imported via CKD....
when considering a volkswagen or skoda, it is just not right to compare it with other cars. Their usp is build quality. Hyundai's usp is their features, Toyota for engine reliability, ford for its fun to drive element and maruti for its's mileage. Therefore people buying a Volkswagen or skoda are well aware of the price or the features that the other brands offer. Mere fancy toys in the dashboard is no bar to estimate a proper car.

I revisited this video today after having bought the T-Roc and having completed more than 5K Kms on it. This is my 2nd VW car after the Polo and my family's 5th VAG. Autocar's T-Roc review was one of the reviews that sealed the deal for me when I was looking for a new car last year. From my experience, T-Roc positives - great build quality, super fun to drive (nothing beats this drive-train. Just let it loose on a highway in S mode and you will know what I mean), highway mile muncher as well as a great city car. Things that T-Roc does not do well on - space (essentially a 4 seater), low speed ride quality.
Very well presented, this is why I enjoy Gavin's videos. Crisp and clear. To me, this is more of a Audi Q3. Classic finish.
It's a Audi under 20 lakh.

I booked this car last month, delivery is expected soon. Reason for considering T-Roc is it’s sheer performance and build quality, it’s simply awesome with sharp detailing and classy look. It’s purely a driver’s car hence performance is top notch and the best in this segment, claimed 0-100 in just 8.4 seconds with a top speed of 205 km/hour. No other SUV / Crossover is faster than T-Roc in sub 35-40 lakh segment. People who are complaining about the price must check the price of T-Roc in Europe. This Sports Edition trim is being sold for €28000 /- in Germany and about £26000 in UK. Whoever is interested to buy T-Roc need to wait for one more year, as all the 1000 units are sold. You may still try if you are lucky and get one, after all T-Roc will be unique and less seen on the road, unlike Creta, Compass or Seltos 😀

I think it's price justifies for what it offers. European build quality, a good feature list, decent engine and what to talk abt VW's ride quality!!! They just nail it every time.
There should be a variant without sun roof. It would've amazing. Everyone doesn't need sunroof. In my opinion, it is a waste expense which people usually dont use and never prefer to pay unnecessarily. I will buy it immediately when a variant comes without sunroof.
Gavin, your delivery is just on-point! It is very engaging and yes definitely that European maturity is something impressive, rather very confident when you push it through corners. The setting of suspension and damper values are optimized for better handling dynamics and provide that sure-footed feeling because European roads are paved better. So having that increased spring and damper stiffness works in favor, but for this car since the profile (s) is wider, setting for a softer spring (a bit) will provide the same confidence yet providing that plush ride on our Indian roads.
Have always noticed.. Gavin gets good locations and cars to shoot on! This one tops the list.. good one Gavin!
I just love how well built the car is. For a European built vehicle the price and built quality goes hand in hand. This comes right with the segment where the Q2, Q3 falls. Also size of the vehicle and price of the vehicle don't necessarily have to be proportional. Lovely video!
For some reason this car caught my attention since the first time I saw it and ever since it has only grown on me so much that i find myself quite in love with the idea of owning it. It exhibits class. The sharp angles, The seats, headlights and even the chrome looks too good. I love the yellow colour too. For a market dominated by Creta and seltos, this would surely bring a variety. Yes the tag on it is quite hefty. I would love if it had a price correction bringing it to 16ish considering the petrol only option. ( Also a diesel option would have also been sweet).
The weather, and background music sync so well. Nice bgm n very nice video as well
At around 24L on-road, it's 3-3.5L more than the top-end Creta and Seltos. For me, the performance gains are enough to justify the price difference.
Damn I love this car...wish it was priced under 20(on road)..would book it straight away
If you are complaining about price then thanks to the import duties but I think at 20 lac its still worth it.
Great Video I always enjoyed Volkswagen Great Cars and Great Content .... Keep up the Great Work!
That German steel , premium simplicity and TSI POWER PACK UP CAUSE I'M A VW FAN
Nice review! I am planning to buy soon and went for a test drive. Nice acceleration and feedback and less body roll compared to Jeep or Seltos. IMO looks better than competition but is a tad bit small. I would get the interiors modified though. Hard plastics not my thang! But the paint job and color is just so unique. On-road is 25.6 lacs in Bnglr.
It's a very good looking car and a great urban crossover. We had booked one but cancelled it (we've opted for a Karoq instead) because there's so many hard plastics everywhere that it feels like you're in a WagonR (a car 1/4th of what this costs on road). The worst part is that there's only hard plastics on the door and no padding apart from the small elbow rest. The interiors are in no shape or form worth 23L on road Delhi. So whoever is interested take a thorough look at the interior quality and see if you can live with it. It feels like it was built on a budget and most of it went to the styling with barely any money spent on the interior quality.
The first lot has been sold out, will they bring another lot in march maybe? If so will it be an updated version eg. With cooled seats, maps in instrument cluster and powered seats?
Great review..which one is more fun to drive car, T Roc or Skoda octavia 1.8 tsi ?
is it good for 5 people to travel and what is the ground clearance.
@26 lacs on road( 4 lacs on import duty) . . .not worth it at all. Understand that you r basically getting a cheaper Q3. But still with all the cars that available in the market and the ones that r going to b launched in 21. Best to buy something else!!

Seems it doesn't have power seats for driver & memory. Can you confirm?
I stopped by at one of these on my recent road trip and was simply mesmerized by its size and stance, searched for it, and landed right here on this page.
Bring on the T Roc through the CKD route and we will see Seltos and the Creta run for cover.
I got a Tiguan 4 months ago as I liked the larger space that it offered! But the design and colours of TROC look kickass! Anyone looking to buy a car in the 20-25 lakh budget should seriously consider this over a creta, hector or seltos! Test driven all those cars but paying 20 odd lakhs for them doesn't just seem justifiable. The real competition for the TROC is Tucson, jeep compass and it's twin the Skoda karoq.

Excellent review by Gavin. Personally, I am a big fan of VW and I think this vehicle is well designed. Somewhere, it has a cut of the Q3 of which I am a big of as well. While Q3 is no longer available, its nice to a refined shape in the VW stable with T-Roc.
Price is justified. But to make a mark in the Indian market it should have been around 17L
What color should I go? Am so confused. Grey looks so normal. Every showroom has one car and Without seeing the color in person choosing is very difficuly
is this the 2020 model or 2019 one ?
How much is the import duty now for a CBU? 120%?
Does it use DQ200 gearbox?
Wanted to see a review on VW T Roc and here it is today, very well explained
Why bring in a CBU esp for this volume segment.. would have sold well in the 14 - 17L range, which it would have costed of made locally.
Great location, pleasing to watch the video
Volkswagen is very very lazy in India. They know people will still buy their 10 year old cars which were replaced in International markets long ago and expensive CBUs like this.
Make Review of Dezire Bs6 2020 ✌️
VW needs to do more localisation to keep the costs down and also introduce more of their cars in India. It's a shame that the 2nd biggest Auto company in the world with such great engineering is struggling in India. With proper pricing, T-Roc could have given even Seltos and Creta a run for their money We need a strong European player in our budget car market.
Since the width is more than Creta , is the seating at the back not as spacious as the Creta?

So do you think one should spend five Lacs more and go for Karoq?
Its a Q2 from VW at european price in India. Its does have very impressive crossover look with perfect width for comfort for 3 on the rear except for the tight legroom space. It should have been around priced ₹15 lacs to stay in competition with Creata or Seltos. India is very priced conscious market.
The SUV version of Golf. Great car. Hope VW assembles it in India and brings down the price along with diesel engines. And hopefully the top end t-roc r sometime..

The T-ROC is a great car considering it looks and everything and also in terms of pricing it's less than it's own cousin Karoq ( even though its 200mm smaller in size) .. but I think VW should have locally assembled the T- ROC in India then they could have priced it more competitively against the Kia seltos which is its main competitor.. then it would have been so good for VW , and many would consider this car against the seltos and the creta, a golden chance missed by VW .. 😓😓🤦♂️🤦♂️

There is nothing like a VW. Tank like built, extreme reliability, great dynamics that inspire confidence. I am a proud Jetta 2.0 TDI owner. Love it to the core.
i hope it’s launched again.. I like crossover styling.. you get some ground clearance and presence sans the tall nature of SUVs and “SUVs”.. the low slung looks with broader, chunkier elements get my attention!
Wow, looks like fantastic car, VW cars has always been for classes and not for masses, so it may feel costly to many, but everyone's choice is unique and different. Still love my Polo, though it is decade old.
how much is ground clearence
Am i the only one interested in t-roc and karoq, even though i will never buy it? I am interested because we will be getting the 1.5 tsi evo engine in the made in india compact suvs's coming next year. Like TSI engines are the best petrol engines in the world, this 1.5 TSI evo with cylinder deactivation is the best TSI engine out there. Finest balance between power and effiiciency like the legendary 1.5L i-VTEC natural aspirated engines. Coupled with the quick shifting DSG gearbox, these would be the best driver focussed compact SUVs out there.

A pretty nice car but I still feel that they could have added the suspension adjustment in this car because from the review, I noticed that the suspension is similar to that of the old Audi Q3 where there was no suspension adjustment and the back-seated passengers had the problem of dizziness during long journeys. But apart from that, the 7-speed gearbox is the best in class. Secondly, I feel that the marketing of this car should be done in such a way that people should compare VW T-Roc to Audi Q3 because there are a lot of similarities in both of these cars and a huge price difference. I wish VW could have launched T-Cross in India which falls under the small SUV segment and would have been more affordable as compared to T-Roc. #TeamAutocar As always, I love the Autocar India Review and I follow each and every review and drag races :) Thank you very much for your interesting content. :)
