    I used to forget to turn the knob, and make cold froth when I wanted hot, or the other way around - My kids have different preferences, and it mattered. So, I placed a drop of blue nail polish on the left of the middle line for the temperature dial, and a red one on the right side of it, and it looks like it came that way, and we all remember now. I've had one of these machines since they first came out, and when my first one broke after many uses, I immediately ran to the store and bought another one. I use mine all the time, so it sits on the counter. Enjoying a matcha latte, with almond milk and honey 😊🍵🌻

    I add unsweetened almond milk, instant coffee, a scoop of cocoa, dash of salt, and sugar free syrup(mint or vanilla, or whatever). I do a low carb diet, it makes the best latte that is only 40 calories, 2.5 grams of fat and 2 carbohydrates. I highly recommend getting one. I don't have to use a regular coffee machine anymore. Take less space. Love it

    Canadian Customer: It is not bad. The foam varies from milk to milk. Some Almond milk brands does not create an adequate foam. MY PROBLEM is that the machine sounds in the same way when it used to work, but now there is no movement and sign of working in the pitcher. Breville's CSR told me that they had only one service repair centre in Canada. After I pay them $112, they would send me pre-paid label so I can send it to the repair centre. She explained that the price was fixed for all repairs. This Breville's business practice seems very shady. Customers should have the freedom to chose where to have their product repaired. We spend about $200 and the issues we encountered does not seem to be serious. In our case it could be for less than $40. We are now forced to throw it in the garbage. Breville is apparently a part of the global pollution. Shame on you Breville!!!

    Bought one yesterday, here is my experience this morning using the foaming whisk: Using 2% milk filled to max capp/latte line, set at 140 F, I get milk heated to 130 F and barely any foam. Using 2% milk filled to min line, set at 140 F, I get milk heated to 130 F and barely any foam. Using 2% milk filled to min line, set at 160 F, I get milk heated to 132 F and barely any foam. Using 2% milk filled to min line, set to cold stir , I get a full load of perfect foam, no liquid milk. So...Cold milk gets you lots of foam, hot milk none. And it doesn't get as hot as it's supposed to. How it worked in this video I do not know.

    2 years later but as a former barista that is the correct answer. Less fat/cream in the milk the harder it is to get foam. This applies to milk substitutes as well. The only milk sub I experienced that I could not foam was rice milk, that shit was basically water. I did everything with a steam wand though so not sure how this little spinny gear manages to do it though, like an upside down whisk I guess?

    Will it froth Almond milk? Important question because I add frothed milk to my matcha tea. Milk changes the efficacy of the matcha, so we cannot use regular cow’s milk.

  • @Ghryst

    as an ex-barista, i can say that non-full-cream-milk is hard to froth properly, yea, you can put bubbles in it, but proper froth is 'cooked' by the steam and the milk fats thicken, which is why it keeps its shape.. my experience was more with soy milk, but almond milk is basically the same thing, water that has had relatively low-fat seeds soaked in it, it is hard to make it 'set'

    To Ghryst: Thanks for the video reference to Seattle company. Yep, looks like the Breville won’t work well with Almond milk. I’m currently just using this for myself and maybe one other person. I have used no more than 4oz of Almond milk heated to 60 sec in the microwave. I then use a battery-powered hand frother and some vanilla cream stevia. It froths up fairly well without having to clean a machine. Of course, cow’s milk froths up really well, and I do use that for adding to French-press coffee; but for matcha tea, which cannot be used with milk, I froth the almond milk. I may just stick with this and not purchase an electric frother at all.

  • @kosmosbjm

    @kosmosbjm

    Ghryst VanGhod - See my response below. Looks like the Breville froths too much for one serving, and also doesn’t work well with Almond milk. For now, I’m probably better off staying with the battery-powered hand frother. It froths up extremely well when using milk, but still good enough when using Almond milk for the matcha green tea. Many people don’t realize that cow’s milk destroys the efficacy of matcha.
