Enjoyed your adventure today,we was going to get some bees but in Portugal you have to have a license,I use wild it’s lovely x

My family has kept bees for long generations. There’s an entire culture around it and much knowledge since bees have been kept for many thousands of years. Here in the South we believe in talking to the bees, as they’re a colony who understand their keeper.😊

It's the 2nd sting that tells whether you have an allergic reaction. The first one enters your system. The 2nd one is the reaction your immune system responds to it. So if someone has a reaction, it would be the 2nd or more time they are stung. I was a medic.

Hi Catherine, I had a laugh when you said bees from Ireland are different than bees from Italy- I understand completely what you meant but laughed because I pictured bees with all sorts of different accents. Love your videos. All the best.

You can develop bee allergies after several stings. It's a progressive allergy where the more times you get stung the more antibodies your body makes. Always carry Benadryl with you. If it gets worse then you will need an epi pen. My cousin died from bees and several years later my uncle was hospitalized from 1 sting. So be safe while you enjoy the 🐝🌻. Oddly enough my Grandpa was a beekeeper and he never used a suit. Never developed an allergy. I love your suit with the mesh. Wonderful video 💕

I so wish I was not severely allergic to bees. I always wanted to have a hive of bees. I refuse to give up gardening because of bees, as one bee versus 20 thousand, I have a better chance to get to the ER even with my anaphylaxis kit! I am so glad you are able to keep bees pretty soon, so I will vicariously live through your videos as a beekeeper !

You are such a lovely person. THANK YOU for sharing and being so open about your journey with anxiety. I can completely relate and have learned to cope and self soothe in many different ways throughout the years. Accepting and loving myself and not judging how I feel has helped the most. That was super interesting about beekeeping. Here in Spain there are loads of hives. Beekeeping is as normal for gardeners and farmers and planting veggies I love watching Texas beeworks here on KZread she handles the bees herself and rescues hives that have ended up in tricky places. Mesmerising

Oh Catherine I love the bee content!! Was so excited to finally see bees in the garden this week. I'm looking to find courses on bees/pollinators and gardens for promoting and caring for the pollinators in my area. You have inspired me! I've received the tracking link for your book and I see it's arrived in Canada. Not long to my door now. Exciting! I'm off to the local agricultural school's annual plant sale. Hopefully there's some plants left lol Got most of my veg plants there last year as well some perennials. Wishing you and the kitties a lovely weekend ☺️

I started preparing myself when I have something I have to do that causes anxiety by repeating statements, like "I am calm and happy", or I have great public speaking skills" . Also deep breathing helps me too. I hope you feel better with each engagement.

My husband and I bought bees about 6 years ago and the most important thing the first year is to inspect the hive often. We gave them powdered pollen as a supplement and a nectar (liquid) the first year and we didn’t take their honey. With the bee suit, smoke, and calm energy you will not get stung. 🐝 Looking inside the hive is miraculous. It is like looking through God’s window into their life. It’s amazing to find/identify the queen and each of the baby bees being cared for and the guardian bees at the door are so interesting. The whole beehive community is an amazing world. (I never did a video on them on my channel so I look forward to yours!) I know you will enjoy the bees and it’s not as much work as you might think. ❣️

So excited for your bees. Love the box color. Glad you are out meeting new friends. Such a pretty orchard. I'm sure the apple blossoms smelled heavenly. Pretty antique shop. Have you ever made wildflower seed bombs. Mix seed together or just use one type of seed. Mix damp garden soil and compost together add seeds. Roll into mud balls about the size of a golf ball. Allow to dry a little. Before a rain just throw them in your garden or a meadow and the rain will plant them for you. Fun to do with your niece and nephew. We made bombs of Texas Bluebonnets and Indian Paint Brushes to throw along the highway in non-mow areas. They are so pretty. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.

Her wall is high enough to keep the bees’ flight path above the other yards for the most part. We gave all our neighbors pints of honey in cute jars; that helped a lot.

Bacopa is annual but if you cherish them in your greenhouse they might survive. Deutzia is in every colour from white to deep pink, blooming from March to deep in Juli. Do try to find the different varieties.

You are quite right, sting allergies don’t necessarily run in families (in fact the majority aren’t) and can develop at any point in a persons life, aren’t necessarily born allergic which is worth bearing in mind should you find the inevitable stings cause more reaction over time. People see this with all forms of allergy including nuts and penicillin.

lots of bees come to my garden every spring and summer so I called a beekeeper because I thought they may want to add this swarm to theirs. The bee keeper came out and inspected the bees. She said they all come from various other hives, looking for food (nectar?) and then take it back to their various own hives. How does she know that?

I suspect it wasn't a swarm that was in your agrden, you must have loads of beautiful flowers or sources of nectar so lots of bees from surrounding areas visited. Without a queen bee, those bees would just return to their original nest.

This was a fascinating vlog and I have always wanted to keep bees but thought i needed a bigger garden you inspired me to check and what do you know you you don't need a big garden. We all love your vlogs Thank you

Lovely video, bacopa is an annual but I did have a 2 nd year from a white one a couple of years ago over wintered in the greenhouse. ❤️

So nice to see this side of beekeeping. We had an almond orchard in California and in late winter, early spring we would have to rent hives for the orchard. We would watch the temps to make sure the weather was warm enough for the bees to come out of the hive. Almond blossoms are blush white but since bees prefer yellow over all other colors we would make sure to get rid of as many fiddle necks and dandelions as possible. We wanted them collecting almond nectar not their preferred junk foods. :-)
