GK M അങ്ങനെയല്ല. ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാർ എപ്പോഴും തിരുവിതാംകൂറിനെ ദരിദ്ര രാജ്യമായിട്ടായിരുന്നു വിലയിരുത്തിയിരുന്നത്. അതിനു പ്രധാന കാരണം മറ്റു രാജാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ രാജകുടുംബങ്ങൾ ആഡംബരങ്ങളും പ്രൗഢികളും പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചു നടന്നിരുന്നില്ല എന്നതുകൊണ്ടാണ്.

സാറേ 266 കിലോ സ്വർണം കുറവ് വന്നത് പാട്മനാഭന്റ് സ്വന്തം അല്ലായിരുന്നോ? ഇന്ത്യക്ക്‌ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം കിട്ടുമ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ വേറെ രാജ്യം ആയി നിൽക്കും എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ ഈ വംശംത്തിനു ഈ സ്വത്ത് മാറ്റുവാൻ സമയം കിട്ടിയില്ല.
