I’m wondering right off the bat why the wife wasn’t setting up the babysitting of her children? My husband would never be meeting with and interviewing a teenage girl as a babysitter without my presence. The look of impropriety even if it was innocent would be enough. Why did Tammy’s father trust this man (pastor or not) alone with his minor daughter? Was it his charisma? All this “man of God” talk is disturbing. So this overrode her father’s instinct to see this as strange? Just wow. Failure on every level. She was a child.

It still happens! We totally let our guards down and completely trust people that we believe love God and do things that we see as things only people who fully love God would do. Like, we think, why would satan bash himself, or stand up against wickedness, or stand up for Jesus even in the midst of hatred and persecution? A man who does these things must be 150% sold out for God, right?? That's what we think and so we fully trust these types of leaders. But satan is clever and disguises himself as an angel of light and his servants as servants of righteousness (2 cor 11). So they do a really really good job of "standing for Jesus and righteousness" to deceive God's people. So that even when accusations come up or the discerning of their fruit, God's people would dismiss it. The way forward is to remember that even sold out people have temptations and can fall short and again, that satan is a deceiver and only God fully knows people's hearts. We should trust godly leaders but have boundaries and accountability in place that true godly leaders would respect and honor.

Just because a wicked man that has no right to be in ministry or was never called or anointed by God, uses the word without the fear of the Lord, doesn’t mean that God’s divine power should be hated or reviled. "Mission over people!" That's my story. Not at IHOPKC, but the organization I was in was influenced by Mike Bickle, and I was influenced by him back in the 90s. So I've been keeping up with what's been going on and relating so much to the flavor of the story - the spiritual abuse, not sexual abuse. "Mission over people" is what has hurt so many people in the organization I was in too. It's insidious because it looks so good to be so focused on the mission and reaching the world, but it runs over individuals and crushes their hearts. Whatever is God led is not going to run over people.

One need only look up pictures online of any 14-year-olds to get a sense of this predator’s type of prey that he was seeking-those young ones whom he may (more easily) devour. The innocence and naivety of kids in that age range, coupled with going through puberty, makes them so attractive, as they are relatively easier prey for sexual predators than more psychologically mature, informed and discerning individuals. That is one very important reason why parents are called “guardians.” No one-no pastor, youth leader, teacher, neighbor, extended family member, friend-no one should ever compromise on “avoiding the appearance of evil.” That includes never being alone with the opposite sex, or in any other possible “appearance of evil” type of situation. Because minors are typically not mature enough to create or uphold such safeguards for themselves, it is the parents’ responsibility to guard their children in this specific manner, thereby insuring their child’s safety. Why was she allowed to be interviewed for a babysitting job by Mike without his wife or one of her parents present? Or allowed to be chauffered around alone with Mike? Or taken to a restaurant alone by him? Or in any room anywhere alone with him? Or making/receiving phone calls with him? Had her parents upheld this principle of “avoiding the appearance of evil,” Bickle would never have had inappropriate access to their precious daughter. She would have been spared 40+ years of the private hell and anguish of religious and sexual abuse; deep spiritual and psychological confusion; anxiety; likely depression or dysthymia; relational alienation from her parents, husband, family members and friends; relational distress with her eventual boyfriend, fiancé and husband; etc. To say nothing of her sacrifice of further training in her beloved French language. Who knows, she might have evolved to a very enjoyable, fulfilling career as a French language teacher! But she was robbed of that potentially passionate career option, wasn’t she? Her Bickle-nurtured religious confusion and misplaced sense of obligation to him led her to sacrifice her young heart’s thirst for more of her beloved French language training to, instead, resign herself to Bickle’s plan of developing office skills to become his “personal secretary.” And how has this impacted her own parenting? And ability for heart-to-heart intimacy in friendships? And on and on it goes…. “Despicable,” “appalling,” “heartwrenching”-no words are adequate to describe how she deeply has been violated, not only by Bickle, but by any who have denied or diminished in any way how the enemy has used them to attack or spiritually and psychologically abandon her. May God fully cover her, protect her, heal her, restore her, educate her and continue to use her and her story to deliver and heal many others who are waiting for their own day of freedom.

That’s how I always did it and when I was younger and babysitting, that’s how it always was. And then the other thing is why would he meet her alone and go to a Restaurant . Red Flags right off the bat. I’m so sorry about this. This may help parents to really think as they make decisions like this. I didn’t trust anybody with my daughter and now I have three granddaughters and you really have to be on guard.

As a member of the body of Christ, my prayer is that we won't add already existing shame to the accusers. Some might say, “What was Tammy’s responsibility as a Christian in this relationship?” It is critical to understand that she was 14, barely a teenager. As such, she likely questioned or disregarded any inner alarm bells as due to personal confusion, insecurity or lack of more mature understanding. She was still a dependent, just beginning to learn, understand and formulate her own personal code of mature moral values and ethical behavior. As a minor, she was very dependent on her parents and the trusted adults (especially leaders) around her to guard, model, teach and guide her in her developmental process. Yet, when Bickle walked into her personal life, all those guardians (parents, Bickle’s wife Diane, adult friends and church leaders) were effectively AWOL. With his overwhelming power differential in age and church authority, he chose to prey upon Tammy, a more vulnerable 14-year-old, rather than a, likely, less vulnerable older teenager. How many more of our precious dependent children are we naively willing to sacrifice to personality or leader worship? We must intentionally do the difficult and painfully honest work to explore, identify, and develop appropriate and effective means within church government to safeguard against any future abuses in order to make that number exactly ZERO! We might start with the biblical and time-honored principle of “avoiding the very appearance of evil.”

I'm not saying this to criticize them at all I just don't understand how a parent wouldn't question what was going on even if they trusted him it's still odd that an older man would want to spend so much time with your young daughter daughter. It was the early 80's before the world knew of clergy abuse. Pastors, preachers, and priests were viewed as trustworthy men of God. Back then, one would never even imagine that there would be sexual intent much less abuse. And, as Tammy said in the video, Mike groomed our parents. He used sports to get in close with our dad, gain his trust, and access to Tammy. It was a time when no one had heard of grooming before. All I knew (at 10 years old back then) was that Mike was always around. He would just walk into our house, as if it was his home. That is how close he was to my parents. He gained their full trust to the point that they would never have dreamed he was sexually abusing their child.

It is so vitally important that this interview be shared to open eyes and hopefully prevent more of these situations in the future. This is a substantial reference for girls that are questioning what possibly could be happening in their life to listen to and hear how this takes place step by step in most abusive relationships.

Mike confessed to Tammy…“I kissed a famous worship leader. Everyone knows her name.” Sounds like Misty Edwards to me. When Tammy talks about Mike indoctrinating her to believe she needs to be celibate/not get married. How that’s the way she should live. But really he just wanted her to wait for him when Diane to dies. Reminds me of all the times Misty Edwards talks about staying celibate and wrestling with celibacy. Did Misty choose to remain celibate and not get married because that was Mike’s influence because he was grooming her too, like Tammy? Sounds familiar. Also, Tammy said that Mike was trying to groom Tammy to tell people when questioned if she was in an inappropriate relationship with Mike, to just tell them, “he was the most Godliest man I knew.” Again, sounds familiar… Misty Edwards went on her Instagram page when all this came out and talked about Mike being the godliest man she knew. Hmmmm…Coached to say that (like Tammy)?

As someone who has not followed this Mike Bickle thing very closely (I have watched only a handful of videos about it over the last few months) this lady's story is a real eye opener. I had been somewhat giving him the benefit of the doubt about what stories are true or made up. Up until the time I watched this I thought there was a real possibility that it was just one woman that he was improperly involved with decades ago. This lady is entirely 100% credible. I did not know most of the things that she had to say. On top of all the other things that she had to say (she gave him a get out of jail for free card... Literally!) the fact that he (a minister who is familiar with what Rev 21:8 says) tried to encourage her to be a LIAR is mind boggling to me. That's just puts it way over the top... But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars... they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” (Rev 21:8) ...

I still feel like she is over romantisizing Mike's motives at the start. I think he picked her out for a very different reason than her hunger for God. He saw an easy victim. I'm also a victim of child SA and he was my sister's boyfriend. Predators see victims and pull them into these situations from the start. Her overt shyness and awkwardness worked in his favor. She wouldn't tell, and he knew it.

I think she's growing in realization of these things. I think she's sharing how her mind saw her world in all honesty, and that's OK. She was starstruck by Mike and admits that. But it's also brave of her to come forth and share that part of her story and that wrestling in her own mind of who Mike was. I think that's what makes her story soo captivating. It would have been easier to want to hide that part of her story and only demonize everything from the beginning. But it's really brave and helpful to other victims who don't realize that they are being groomed that she shared that. I really appreciate her honesty vulnerability 💕

I knew a lot about how they groom them, I just didn’t want to list it all, not enough room here to do so, it would have been pointless. The last one you listed is a very difficult one to weed out, especially since the time line she mentioned. We have better tools today, but there are still moves used by men today that have made it easier in one way & harder on the other way. It take sharper parents and never trusts a man in the church, even if you think GOD HIMSELF SENT HIM DOWN FROM HEAVEN.. And by this I’m saying never allow him go anywhere alone with your daughter’s. It’s sad that it has come down to this, but it’s needed even more.. these men look for weakness within the family and find those vulnerable spots these girls have.. it’s not all cut & dry as most people think… 🤔

Just because it wasn’t ‘intercourse’, poor Tammy’s body, soul & spirit was abused repeatedly. She did explain so well the incredible grooming that he did with her all these years! Horrendous. I hope others begin to understand the darkness this brought to all the Jane Does & this ministry. Holding all in prayer. Celebrating God bringing truth to the Body of Christ. The grooming he put her through to twist and make her believe she was initiating the relationship, is so subtle and lays the foundation of guilt and shame that becomes the toxic glue that lock's her into the relationship. The blame game that she is vixen sets him up to escape responsibility when thecrelationship is exposed. This is typical of a skilled abuser who gets himself into a trusted postion of power to set up a captive network of people around him to exploite and abuse. The scenario she describes profiles the offender as a high risk offender whom the research would show has probably offended in the past and is likely to opportunistically repeat offend in the future. He fits this profile as high risk due to the high level of skill, manipulation he displays, demonstrated by the length of time he was able to get away with it.They are sophisticated and skilled liars who rarely get caught unless the victim exposes. When caught they will victim blame and seek to absolve themselves by minimising their part to play and over emphasising the victims role. The deflecting and minimising by the offender is classic high risk indicators. I have worked with adult sex offenders and he fits the profile of a high risk case.

Mike Bickle was/is a predator and this story shows he has so many of the hallmarks of a narcissist: love bombing, manipulation, isolation from family and friends, lack of accountability, blaming others, and lies, just to mention a few. He is clearly a very charismatic and gifted person, but I find it extremely difficult to believe that he was ever truly a man of God. His twisting of the scriptures to justify his predatory and abusive actions towards a minor and "prophetically" lying about how his wife was going to die (how utterly sick!) tells me he has ZERO fear of God and relied solely on his charms and natural gifts. I believe that God, in his lovingkindness and mercy touched people like Tammy and other sincere seekers *in spite of* Bickle, not because of him. All my opinion, of course.

And I was a therapist who worked with sex offenders in the prison system and know of the insane grooming techniques, glamourous nicest guy ever persona, and unbelievable skilled manipulative techniques. But a pastor that teaches passion for Jesus like he really believes it? Absolutely unbelievable that he was able to pull this off for so very long. CRAZY!!!! Where in the hell were his spiritual mentors to teach him about ethical behavior as he is entering into the pastoral ship? Was Tammy Woods really his first victim? What was he doing the years prior to her? He developed this pattern from somewhere before this. Where was Diane when he was spending large amounts of time with this 14-year-old driving her around? Where were Tammy's parents, why weren't they driving her to and from events? Where was the wise discernment in parenting and in that church? It rips at my heart that no one was watching after, properly caring for or protecting this innocent child! AAAAKKK!!! (of course I am very aware of this triggering my past wounds and area of greatest need for safety) Didn't anyone recognize this strange unrighteous risky unethical unbiblical behavior of Mike Bickle, a married man and new father, toward this young child? My daughter is a helicopter parent for good reason. May the Lord alert our eyes, heart and spirit with wise discernment in these end times that are full of deception and perversion!!!

"Where in the hell were his spiritual mentors to teach him about ethical behavior as he is entering into the pastoral ship?" See, that's the thing. He never went to bible college or seminary, and first became a pastor at c. 22 years old. A senior pastor at 25 or something crazy. His mentor if he had one was Bob Jones, the mentally ill false prophet. You could do an entire podcast on Bickle's early days. One of the first churches he became a pastor of was by invitation of a few new Christians who saw him speak once and asked him to pastor their little church after just the one message. There was some very strange other stuff going on at the start of his career. He was not screened by elders. He had no credentials. He didn't even have a college degree. He dropped out of college then did 3 months of bible school at an obscure place in Colorado. Some of this is written up in the bio of his brother Pat Bickle by D. Falls (Amazon). According to a post on KZread for another video on Bickle, someone from his early days said one of Bickle's early offers to be a pastor came when the senior pastor's assistant resigned over this senior pastor's affair with his secretary. So that's how people like Bickle can get jobs. Crooked pastors platforming crooked pastors. Similar thing happened when crooked Bickle platformed crooked prophets Jones and Cain.

Thanks for speaking out and for helping this lady speak. Also I am thankful for the church leadership that are taking this seriously. I love what Tami says starting at 1:10:19 “ this isn’t about forgiveness, it’s about justice, accountability, and making the wrong things, right”

Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are so brave. You didn’t deserve the abuse that you suffered as a child. Stories like yours, though heartbreaking, need to be shouted from the rooftops. Thank you again. I will pray for your continued healing.

Reading about Tammy’s story today for the first time; having read past week about victim’s abuse at the hands of Robert Morris: makes me wonder if latter took courage from Tammy to tell hers too.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 Tammy didn’t have a small life. She had a genuine life for the Lord. Mike was a living lie. A dazzling house of cards.
