Thanks Guillem. I knew little about the guy. We need to give him time though. This season its literally everything changing so before christmas we struggle, after that, we get our *hit together, finish mid table with glimpses of what is to come then on to next season . Change of style, change of players, it isn't going to all work overnight. This is long term.

Moyes hasn't left him much to work with , he's get a massive squad rebuild as well as trying to impose a new style of play on the team . Sometimes these 2 things can work out , as from day one he can get to build his own squad relatively quickly . We'll see

He can work with a director of football as he has done it a Sevilla . He has worked in premier league before so knows the league . Guillem, we appreciate Julien's history and skillset. If you speak to him, tell him I (the most knowledgeable fan) knows full well he can be a huge success at West Ham United Football Club. Tim is a pearl diver. We have money and a strong spine. If he can 'father' a new young group while keeping current leaders (Bowen, Antonio) on side while breading more leaders, we have all it takes to upset the apple cart. We really are a sleeping giant. He could be the final piece of the puzzle in terms of senior staff to unlock it. It all just needs to transpire on the pitch. The London Stadium is already a fortress and will be more so once we add more talent to the side. We need to ensure that this new group has the character to take that confidence and mentality to away grounds all across the country. I know Julien would have relished Kudus, Mavropanos, and Alvarez arriving in his camp last season. We have had Moyes resisting it all year. Huge Stadium, Hugeley Passionate Fan Base, A core of outstanding players and money to invest in the side and a Sporting Director who is genuinely excellent at his job. Jump on board and we will back you to the high heels, Julien. Gracias ❤💛⚒

Good interview. Was underwhelmed with his appointment but feeling a bit better about it now. Cant never be confident about anything West Ham related when Sullivan is involved.

First time we are getting a top quality hungry coach. We've not done too bad under average managers such as Allardyce, Bilic, Moyes etc so think what we can do with a top quality manager for once. We have HUGE potential as a club.

Tim has to be in charge of recruitment. These links are already... correct. Lop needs to accept Tim is 10 out of 10 thus far with recruitment. Suggestions as we move forward, yes. But since come all the profile of payers we have been linked to are 'intelligent' in my opinion. I have coached before, where I had different players every year to identify, coach (creating organized sessions), and organizing as many available opportunities to get structured sessions with the best players. We never lost :) As someone who has coached football, managed games, etc. I can wholeheartedly say Tim's player identification has been excellent. My advice to the board would be let Tim handle absalouletley everything this year and let him put a team together which is going to enable a first-team coach to attack the league. Moyes's started off well and identified what I identified as a fan who has watched us for 30 years, what we needed at the time. Those being, an inverted right winger and a physical CM to play next to Rice. Hence his first signings were Bowen and Souceck. As we progressed and Moyes was left to 'develop the team' (in my opinion) more floors started to appear in Moyes's recruitment. He done a lot in one summer so was probably pushed to some degree but there were certainly 'hits and misses'. to say the very best. Scamacca (moved on), Kehrer (Moved on), Downes (Moved On), Aguerd (In and out of the side), Cornet (...)... The three that have succeeded have been Areola, Emerson, and Paqueta. That's the summer before last. Last summer, 4 were brought in and towards the end of the season, I would argue strongly that all of Tim's recruitment has been much stronger than Moyes's. I think If I was to advise Lopo moving forward, I would tell him, let Tim handle the recruitment. Certainly for this summer. He knows who we need to build around. We have to move players on as well. There are players who do not, will not, fit the mold anymore. Even if we have to suffer some losses in the summer (Ie., selling players at a loss) Let Steidten be as proactive as possible in the summer and give him ALL THE SUPPORT required to build a team for Lop for the coming season. We need a mixture of Marquee signings and good business. If Lopo is already on board behind the scenes he must follow Tim's lead. Tim's summer window started in Jan, moving on the likes of Kehrer, Benny, Fornals, and Downes. Tim needs to continue to steer the ship in terms of recruitment. Not only do I trust his strategies wholeheartedly but it also allows for Lopo to get used to the other sides of the job. On a coaching perspective, there are things Moyes did well; he kept a very hard-working group, though it was always his recruitment that let him down, in my opinion. If we can maintain that (the hard work) be better on the ball in build-up (which will be down to both coaching and recruitment) with a percentage football approach (long ball) in the back pocket for when needed, and Tim can bring in enough to not only have an exceptional starting 11 but with enough quality back up to offer cover and effect games, we will be great. Lopo needs to understand what we are after. Someone to carry out the direction of the club. It is down to Steidten to empower him with recruitment. Steidten's recruitment has been neigh on perfect. My advise for Lopeteguiti would be focus on coaching the team. Hard work, winning mentality, front foot approach, GOALS, opposition analysis. Tim will handle recruitment, I believe. The board needs to be brave. If we take a couple L's on players and they have to be frozen out, we still need to support Tim in building a squad. The board needs to back Tim, Tim needs to back Lopo and in return Lop and Tim can grow together.

Brilliant interview Anton . There's a lot of bollocks spoken by detractors & Moyes's media mates let's just hope he proves em all wrong COYI ⚒️

The guy as to have time to get to know the team and get rid of the dead wood.if he can work with Tim and bring in our young lads.fingers x he is two steps up from Moyes.

I think the biggest problem a lot of people had with Lopetegui was he managed Wolves. The stigma of it. Wolves not being a "massive" club, so Julen can't be a very good manager if he took the job at Wolves. I'll freely admit, I was in that camp. I have now done a complete 180 and am really looking forward to seeing what he can do.

All sounds good and I’ve always liked Balague as a pundit but…I remember how much he built up how good Pablo Fornals would be for us. Don’t get me wrong I really rated Pablo and loved how he enjoyed being a hammer but he was not as good as Balague suggested he would be. I hope the same doesn’t apply to Lopetegui.

ive followed Guillem for 25 years !!! il take his word or opinion over any UK media or ex footballers that know nothing about West Ham ... im baffled how Moyes and Lop are even in the same conversation . laughable imo ..

The only thing that really concerns me is that the journo repeatedly mentions direct discussion with Sullivan and not with Steidten. This is not the way the new system with a DoF is supposed to work and is a deal breaker for me.

The new Coach v Director of football setup is not a new thing at West Ham. Ron Greenwood went "upstairs" at the club And took the then named General Manager position leaving John Lyall to become Team Manager/Coach. They worked together at first in signing and releasing players. It continued until Greenwood was employed by the FA for the England job and Lyall reverted back to a traditional Manager.

Good intwrview Did he say J Lo would got to Sullivan about transfers and not Tim Steidten or was that just a slip. He did at one point say he was coming as manager and later said head coach. I hope he will actually be the head coach reporting to Tim Steidten

No, we have money, and it's a process. Steidten brings players who not only have the capacity to shine on the pitch but also add value to the club. FACT. Steidten has already added massive value to this squad. He needs to keep going. Steidten and Lopo need to enable each other. Moyes worked against the grain. A fresh start in the summer with Steidten and Lopo and a A* working relationship between the two and we will grow and grow and grow.

There is no doubt he is the next level up to Moyes but as long as he gets on with Steitdan I can see a problem this guy is saying he will have a say does that mean he veto’s the signings if so it means back to square one. I hope he puts youth in because some of our current team are doing so bad can it be worse. I

Surprised that Lopetegui's record of winning under 19 and under 21 European Championships as well as being runner up FIFA under 20 world cup wasn't mentioned. In addition to his record in Spain it seems that Hammers are getting a lot of bang for their buck. Also, his record is far superior to Pochettino who has only won Ligue 1 with PSG which was hardly surprising.
