One thing that could've worked and for them to have their cake and eat it too, was to have Frank Welker as Garfields dad in the movie instead of Samuel L. Jackson.

Even hearing Frank voice reminds me of Garfield. He 100% was the best voice actor for Garfield IMO.

I do like the Frank Welker Garfield version.

Casting this pratt was so wrong for Garfield indeed should be Frank the one of us grow up loving.

I still can hear Galvatron in there. And Fred.

Reminds me of how Disney intentionally didn't choose Tim Allen to play Buzz in the Lightyear movie.

Frank welker will always be garfield for me i hope he comes back in future garfield shows

Chris Pratt is the wrong voice for this character. Mario was a surprising choice it worked,but I feel like you should of have been chosen. One we all grew up with and loved and admired.

While I agree 100%,, some replacements work well especially in the 00's movies, mostly its due scheduling issues, firing, but I hear ya on this though I do have to say that he won't have the same personality as the show or comics therefore they had to change his voice to match and it kinda works for me

Yeah Mario was great asl I want nobody but Chris to do it now but Garfield? They just want big stars to voice movies so they will sell more but what they don’t know is that we don’t care about that, ppl are in fact not watching the movie now cuz of that

Well Lorenzo Music was the original voice of Garfield and after he died, I thought Frank Welker was the perfect replacement for him. Incidentally, in Garfield and Friends, Frank did the voice of Bo Sheep, Booker, Sheldon, and one of Orson's brothers.

As long as we still have Frank as Megatron, it's all good. Nobody can do Megs better than Frank.

Frank Welker should have been given the part by default, considering how great he was in The Garfield Show and Nickelodeon All Star Brawl.

Y'know, I'm still looking foward to seeing the new Garfield movie unlike the fandom but I respect Frank Welker's opinion since in truth, I did enjoy his voice as Garfield alot more than Lorenzo's since I liked Lorenzo and Murray better than they were voicing Peter Venkman from Ghostbusters lol.

Am I also in trouble for wanting to see the new Garfield movie? Since unlike what they said about the Garfield voice, I was usually here for some of the adorbs parts of Garfield as a kitten lol.

I think its because of marketing and star power is why chris pratt got chosen.

Frank was my first Garfield (I was introduced to the character via GARFIELD GETS REAL), and since then he's inspired me.

Agreed. Chris Pratt is getting so overrated. I would have loved to have Frank Welker back as Garfield. He's the second best Garfield. The first, obviously, was Lorenzo Music

Upon first hearing about the upcoming movie, my literal first thought was 'I wonder what Frank Welker has to say about this.'

They should've used the garfield show crew for the movie wally wingert as jon arbuckle frank as garfield jason marsden as nermal etc. im boycotting the film in general not the comic

Frank welker is highly acclaimed voice they are always looking for someone cheaper...frank is older so it is hard to hit the voice just right...

Hollywood execs insist on bringing in big names thinking it'll pull in bigger crowds especially the youngsters. They ignore the fact that there are some things you don't mess with. We can never have the Garfield most of us grew up with, but Frank is the closest to embodying that spirit then Jon Barnard. Garfield sounded tired with a hint of sarcasm and indifference. Chris Pratt is missing those elements.

It's stupid that they keep casting celebrities to voice cartoons when the main audience is kids who don't give a damn about it.

Let’s be real they should’ve just gotten Frank. Nobody wants Star Lord voicing Garfield, or Mario for that matter.

Zac Efron was great by doing the High School Musical films (2006-2008), Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (2012) and Scoob! (2020).

Star casting is not a bad thing, but when you do it all the time, you take away the jobs of PROFESSIONAL voice actors and new upcoming ones can no longer get the opportunity
