Exchanging (Clarinet) Ligature Screws to Preposterous Effect

Музыка

Can ligature screws (or plating) really affect anything?
I promise I'm getting a better mic soon.

american screws are made by AP&M with 6-32 thread. French ligatures use a metric M4- 70 thread,so there is really no way of exchanging the screws

This is fascinating!!! So cool. All of these lig screws in this video are French, I believe. I have noticed, for example, paddle screws like on Portnoy ligatures are so small in diameter. I have also noticed this with, say, Harrison ligs.

What's your opinion about Silverstein and Rovner ligatures?

I've tried every possible Rovner variation, going back to the original ones from the late 70's. I feel they don't allow me to push with the right abdominal muscles...I actually have another video where I compare over a dozen ligatures on my channel! As for Silverstein ligatures...I've never been a fan of any string-based ligature. As much as I love Karl Leister, Wenzel, and other players in the German & Austrian tradition, I don't get the colorful sound & efficient projection (AND variety of articulation) that I can with a good metal ligature (with high quality metal).
