Restaurant owner at 3:05. He is 100% correct. After 20+ years in the seafood business and more years in restaurant business. I know it is a fact, Hotels cheat customers. Landlocked farmed catfish & prawn has destroyed fresh seafood prices. Wolmart and Castco big box stores helped that happen.

Amazing find and a great review of absolutely new dishes. Three episodes in a row you have showcased flavours of Goa that are unique - not the regular beach side shack fare or the much used 'Touristy-Goan Food' which is an overkill. Another hidden gem showcased. Some dishes are unheard of. Also, Goa has a lot of pork dishes that many food shows often ignore. What I love is you guys are open to show it all. Pork / beef etc. to each its own. Choice for everyone. Restaurant owner Uncle is right, the Basa, especially the imported Vietnamese one, had deluged the Bombay food scene a decade or so back. Everyone was doing it. It was cheap and available all year round, which for traditional fishermen is a not possible to supply - both due to seasonal reasons and also because they do not have very large trawlers that go deep in sea. Besides, these Vietnamese Basa were are also farmed so it was more of an import dump. Now even India has is cultivating its own Basa produce and market but I think its very commercial and kills the palate for other kinds of fish. Basa is mild in taste and the frozen one is almost like a sponge that absorbs any thing you add to it. It sure adds to new fish eaters as it has less fishy smell but not at the cost of spoiling the palate. And since commercially its cheap, this adds to profits and so the cycle continues. God knows it may also have chemicals to keep it look and feel fresh despite freezing it for long. Anyways, I love what this place 'Bhatti Village' is serving. Fresh catch. You get only what the fisher folks caught and what the owners can deliver in form of quality from preparation. The small tiny bones fish reminds me of some local fish here in Mumbai, especially the Mandeli. But seems this is different. Thanks to this I also remember one place also selling Kane, a Mangalorean favourite. A good pork, cooked well, is amazing. The pork fat when cooked properly complements the tastes of masala so well. Unfortunately not many places in Mumbai do pork and very few do good pork. I guess it is because of the mix of traditions. I have seen the same place serve fish, goat, chicken, veg and even make a Jain dish on request - such is the lot but some things are a no - sensitivities you see. This family place shows commitment to the values of Goans, who treat their guests with love. In the midst of a mushrooming of places that are fancy farts, this one is a true gem. More power to such places. Family run and that too the next gen in the business looks like good food will be available for decades here. Thanks again both of you. While Shanky sang praises of the Mallu tongue, ghantiyan baja baja ke, and Sid was wondering what is happening here, luckily I was paying more attention to the food. The chemistry between the two of you is great. Also, like the candor of Shanky, if he doesn't like something he won't shy away from saying it aloud. Sid on the other had is a tad more adventurous in trying new flavours except the "fried rice with butter chicken". Thanks again. Keep the love of good food flowing, Cheers M

Yo yo Forkazzz so shanky, like you have Sambar masala in the South(I say) well in Goa there is this masala ground called "SAMAR" (I say). Nowhere CLOSEEE or similar are they say master Yoda. But guys I'm a staunch Goan fodho re. Bhatti village is that 1 place I never visit whenever I come from the Dubayy. Dude I too order the same schizzle you FORKERS did at the place, the fish row, the leitao (AKA poor suckling oink oink , and the SAMARACHI KODI and ukde rice AKA mota chawal is moi staple. You MOFOs nailed it man. As we GOEMKARS say, DEV BOREM KORUM (aka thank you)
What I understand is that the producer is a jain/Gujarati/vegetarian and he is giving you carnivores this amazing opportunity to eat delicious non veg food... It's highly respected. Tolerance is the need of the hour and you guys are living it up.

I’ve been here and drive to here in the night was the scariest ever but the food was worth all of it.
Food is very technical ingredients react different basis water and air you guys being in goa always show very best and authentic places and showcase typical plates which the owner will also recommend please add one dish that is completely contrast to that place that will be intresting.

Wife and me were here few months ago during a short business trip, Patrick is a great host however the food is not really that great (maybe you guys are KZreadrs so he may have personally worked it with the kitchen boys), we had ordered for KingFish rava fry and some chicken dish Patrick suggested. The Chicken was too starchy like chewing gum while as our maid back in Mumbai cooks better KingFish or Surmai (the masala base is what I am referring to). The place is over price nor the food or booze is well worth it. Patrick gave us a complimentary round of this White dessert (1 for 2 people) with some biscuit sprinkled on it .. my wife said this was byfar the only best food served by Bhatti Village. (apparently it was Sara Dora a Portuguese SawDust type pudding) Bro I believe it just a hype .. Lots of better places in Kandoli or even down Nerul road
