Examples of some 3D printed enhancements I made for my sim racing experience.
I wanted to show some examples of how I use 3D modeling and printing for my sim racing hobby to hopefully give you some ideas and methods for using 3D printing.

Thank you @milly!!
Loving this. Great job and thanks for sharing!!
This is so genuine, I hope to get my own printer one day to atempt something similar to this for my set up.

It can be a lot of fun and useful as well. Well worth a purchase.
Awesome job!!!
That dash is slick. I'll definitely be doing something similar when I finally get a rig set up.

Glad you like it. A sim rig is a great way to get additional immersion in sim racing.
i got into 3d printing for sim racing, and made a wind simulator, and a steering wheel, and button box. cup holder, dd1 Powe supply bracket. steering wheel mounts.. soo many things man. its literally endless.

Great to hear and appreciate you sharing out those ideas. I actually did make a steering wheel with buttons but no longer have it so wasn't able to include it in the video.

Hi I'm interested in getting into 3d printing is it expensive for small projects
My favorite thing is something you didn’t talk about, which is the spot for the extra shift knob to go.

You have a keen eye!! I forgot all about that as I made it quite a while ago :)

@@lapsedtime That was the first thing I thought of when I unboxed my shifter, “where am I gonna put this (and the dozen or so more that will soon come)”

@@lapsedtime what did you get to mount it? I’m trying to build myself a place for my knobs to go but I’m having a hard time finding the right sized bolts.
@lapsedtime
Жыл бұрын
@@xavierpayne7179 I did everything on the 3D printer. So I created a tube post and 3D printed it for the knob to sit on. No bolts needed other than to mount the holder to the 8020.
I plan on talking about your video on the next episode of the iRacers Lounge podcast. Pretty cool.

I am glad you liked it and appreciate you doing that!!
Nice work! I like your adjustable vent! If you stick the Carbon Fibre vinyl to the 3D Printer bed you get the carbon fibre effect on the 3D Print.

Thanks for the tip, I will give that a try as I still have some left over.

@@lapsedtime I have done it a few times for button boxes and StreamDeck mounts for my sim-rig
I need a 3D Printer lol I just wired up a bass Shaker to my rig and want to run the wind simulation from Simhub with the Arduino board so it speeds up with my in game speed

Love having the bass shakers. 3D printers are a great thing and really satisfying going thru the process of having an idea and seeing the final product that you designed yourself.
I really like the way you have designed the blowers, especially that you can adjust the stream direction whenever you want. Actually a quick look at thingiverse proves that there are no such projects there. Can you share yours please?

Here is a link to the step files for the vent and wheel mount. I recommend printing the vent and housing as one print vs trying to fit the vent afterwards. Will also need to adjust the tolerance to ensure the fit is not too tight or too loose based on your printer. www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/n2kugrm3thhbvdnboe1su/h?dl=0&rlkey=s5c1bhs4zk2npmuicspcekwnn
i am extremely curious about that PWM fan controller knob setup, are they all for controlling the fans or are some of them wired into an arduino for use as encoders? and if the latter please make a video on that because i never though about using them before and its honestly a pretty fantastic idea
@lapsedtime
Жыл бұрын
It is only used to control the fans. I did wire the power to one of the toggle switches for turning it on/off but do not use it as an encoder. I don't believe it would work as an encoder since it only regulates the voltage going to the fans.
i need the file for the clip for your chair that u made for your vr cable plz

I couldn't find the file but quickly re-created it. I uploaded a step file to the drop box location. www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/n2kugrm3thhbvdnboe1su/h?dl=0&rlkey=s5c1bhs4zk2npmuicspcekwnn 1
