Kevin I bought 10 of the tsa supposed to be confiscated knifes, it was a bunch of junk mostly liquor store corkscrew openers and 2 junk China knives. What a rip off 😪 good 👍 job on the camillus and your display case is really 👌 👍 looking good. GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸 🙏

Thank you so much for this particular video. I watch all your videos each morning. However this video helped me. As you were cleaning up that Camillus knife, I’m thinking, I know that knife. But I couldn’t figure why it seemed so familiar to me. Then it dawned on me. When my Daddy passed away in 2016 I inherited all his knife collection. There were a couple excellent knives that someone ground the makers name off the tang stamp. It has been a mystery to me what those knives were. So I went to my Daddy’s collection and pulled that EXACT knife out of the case. It is a perfect example of the exact knife you just cleaned up. The handles are pure white. It has never been sharpened or carried. A couple of the bolsters have some wear on them form being in a box. The tang stamp still has USA on one side but Camillus and New York have been ground off. On the opposite side of the tang stamp are the large numbers 23. So, I am certain it’s the same exact knife. Thank you for solving an old mystery. However, one mystery still exists. WHY did someone grind off the makers name? Was it a factory second? Was it stolen at one time? Was it sold on the black market. I have no idea? I would be interested in your and your subscribers thoughts. Thanks buddy!

I’ve learned that Camillus does this on 2nds or mistakes. They grind off the makers mark. I have a few of those. Thanks for sharing tho man!! God Bless you sir!

Be careful of those confiscated knives, the last person I knew that bought one got 6 lbs of Chinese junk for $45.00.🤣

Recently got a Shapleigh's Barlow at an estate sale. Interesting history of those knives. Looks like they made the blades for the knives on that poster.

I had seen those old hickory knife racks on eBay with knives in them and knew you were going to need one, I’m glad you got you one.

Great looking yellow/orange color .on Camillius great looking knife.

Dog gone it … for years. I have told my children ( and now my grandchildren) : don’t let other people influence your emotions…. I keep seeing in your videos the sideline of you filling your display cases. I have a few different sets of Schrade and Western display cases. Years ago when I got them I thought briefly about filling them but just thought it was something to pick up .. and they were either free or cheap 🤔… but every time you show a case ..🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I think more bout it… also I find myself pulling out a different knife after EVERY video .. givin a drop of oil or especially carbon steel : polishing the blade / wiping it… hmmmm . Always a pleasure watching your videos Kevin !!!! I’m still bit stiff from knee surgery but after the last lunch video ( and from what we mentioned about the Camillus buck 110 information) I am anxious to do a deep dig to go through my old lock backs and see if I have any of those lock backs he was talking about. When you talk to him next time: can you please ask him about what years does he believe Camillus may have produced those 110 for Buck? You know as with Schrade “end of days “ throwing those knives together with whatever parts. Camillus threw some together too !! (in the last days) I have some 110 look a likes etched not stamped WESTERN . And some camillus etched not stamped … ( but got to do that dig ).( and compare) I remember some buck Stockman’s that were produced by Camillus .. It’s amazing the more I’m around you and other knife. KZreadr seems like I always walk away with more info… I know I know very little… but it’s always a wake up call on how little I do know.😵‍💫. Humbling. And I have and do read the forums . Blade magazine and talk n listen to venders at blade shows … I guess I should not be surprised of being surprised. It’s very good of you to have round table discussions . As my buddies grandmother used to say: two knuckleheads are better than one.. ( and four is better than two I would say) . Please don’t be dissed by knucklehead!! I say it with fun/respect. Keep up the good work!

So much to do… so little time to do every thing… I’m at 66 years old… time seems to get away from majoring the day I move, but I move slowly…. Don’t get as much done in the day.. I’ll make lists but they keep getting longer.. I do try to do a little for my grown kids, and their kids,,, build model car kits play with hot wheels.. taking interest in their Legos… Did a little bit with knives with the older boy​@@howardkayecrabyman

I have a little two blade case, it’s a case tested xx with the jig bone handles and can’t find any information on it. Was wanting your help. And the blades open from the ends, it’s real thin

@@theknifedoctor that’s all it says is case tested xx The blades are paper thine and very sharp , I saw somewhere it’s a 1920 to 1940

Love the Camillus knife clean up. I was curious does it have brass liners.

Hey Kevin, I've got a Boker electricians knife just like that one. It came with an Xcelite tool kit I got back in the early '80s. One question for you -- is the screwdriver blade on an electrician's knife supposed to be sharp? Mine is sharp, but I can't remember if it started out that way. Thanks.

Yeah, I’m not gonna try that. Notice the springs. They wrap around on the end of the knife. Plus I’d have to drill in the other bolsters and worry about alignment when the blades close. Impossible really just using two of this knives to make 1 without using other springs. The blades would close on top of each other because those blessed are straight where as a regular 4 blade knife the blades are made a little off center to align right.

Well, doc think it over . I don't mind if it would take 3or4 to make one 4 blade. I just love a good, hefty, carbon steel knife. If I could find a case xx big chief in carbon, I would be just as happy as a pig in slop. . I got a couple gunboat canoes, and they are just not what I want. Would it be easier to turn one of those into a 4 blade.
