Exactly What You Need to Know about the Single Plane Swing

Спорт

The Single Plane Swing is a common sense golf swing. It is also based in science and the natural way you move your body. It is an easier way to play golf.
In this video, I discuss the swing with the founder of UpGlove - Shawn McConnon. During the video I discuss the single plane swing and answer questions from the audience.
The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.
To find our more about the Single Plane Golf Swing, you can find my book at Amazon.com here:

As a self taught golfer I had been struggling to achieve consistency in my game through use of traditional swing mechanics. For years I would experiment with different methods and styles only to get frustrated because the swing was so complicated that it was virtually unrepeatable. It got so bad that I went from going to the range every day to quitting the game of golf for more than a year. When I took it up again I decided to just do what felt natural instead of trying to swing by the book. Little by little I found myself setting up with the ball forward in my stance and a body tilt to the right. My grip was determined by my body position and I started to find more consistency but would still struggle to repeat it day in and day out. Eventually I stumbled upon one of your videos explaining the single plane golf swing and immediately I recognized many similarities to my own swing. What a revelation to realize that there was already a blueprint out there to use to fine tune my natural swing! Now that I use key elements and checkpoints of the single plane golf swing my ball striking has never been more consistent and my enjoyment of the game has returned. From someone who quit the game out of frustration I can honestly say that this swing works, and works really, really well.

Been playing golf for 30 years or so and yes it has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. I am not only a golf fanatic but an individual that is infatuated with the sport that will never be conquered... I've known about Moe Norman swing since the days of "Natural Golf" I not only purchased the instructional videos, but also the clubs and attended a weekend school in Palm Springs CA, but for some odd reason, I went back to the two plane swing and old habits that frustrated me more and more to point where I quit the game for a long period of time. Do to Covid-19 and with lots of time in my hand, KZread golf videos became my thing to do and finding Todd in the last year or so has been a blessing in disguise. Now I come to understand the Moe Norman simple single plane swing (Todd explains it like no other) and have implemented it now that they've opened local golf courses and not only am I hitting the ball like never before, I now don't hesitate to go to the driving range and hit 300 balls (yes you have to put in the time my peeps) without worrying about my lower back or the three torn ligaments I have in my right elbow (I refuse to go under the knife...too old for the sh*t 😜). Anyways, this is one of the best 40 minutes golf instructional video I have ever seen... The Feeling of Greatness baby... Thanks, Todd.

My game also left me in terms of wanting to quit. I knew about Moe being from Ont.🇨🇦 but no one taught it. I decided to try Moe’s single plain swing about 4 years ago through your videos and training aids and it worked. My favourite club is now my driver. My friends now call me boring. “Fairway finder” handicap 18-8 and I love play golf again, to bad that I can’t golf year round.

Most people really don't understand the consistency of the limitations. I see discussion on a Facebook single plane group and many reference another SP instructor they prefer because they don't like keeping the feet on the ground and hitting into the flexed lead knee but this is the magic! Yes, it's awkward at first if you are coming from the convention swing and used to lifting up to create space but once you get it conditioned it's amazing for hitting Straight consistent shots.

Hi Todd, bought and read your book and I'm well on my way to changing my swing to single plane. Here's my problem I'm tending to push my shots to the left. Through analysis I've discovered on the downswing as my right elbow moves in front of my right hip the club face is open, this continues through impact thus producing shots straight right. I'm sure you've come across this, any suggestions?

Would my address for my single length irons and hybrids be the same or would you recommend playing my stronger lofted irons according to the trainer regardless of shaft length?

You explain it so WELL and your Graves swing solves my spacing issue that I just could not get rid of in my old 2 plane swing (like everyone I go UP so my swing was more vertical one plane at impact). Now its so much more correctly spaced out. However, its really hard to unmodel my old swing and keep the trail foot down. This movement allows the arms to swing through freely! Also this transition left knee movement limits the left hip of over rotating!

Copy is the only thing you can do when it's based on Moe Norman's perfection.

@@ToddGravesGolf Thank you for sharing all of your content im still learning yours and moes single plane swing but ive been using it two weeks and i use to get up to the ball expecting disaster now im more consistent and i address the ball with confidence. The only thing im having trouble with is my driver. When i widen my stance like you teach ive been topping the ball even with 3 1/4 tees

@@patrickmiles5548 It has little to do with tee height. Most likely you are not rotating through impact correctly. You must have extension past impact.

Todd please try to get back to Moe’s simplicity. Bio mechanics and swing tech is a bit much. Moe was a very simple man who worked hard to simplify the swing in plain talk. Thinking about a million moving parts was not Moe.

Anthony with all respect, I want you to try an experiment. I want you to come up with the most simple task you can think of such as lift your right leg and then tell 10 people to lift their right. Then watch and see how many different variations you get of lifting the leg and most likely you’ll get 8 to 10 different variations of lifting your right leg - because one person will have their knee flexed one person will have a leg straight one person will have their foot straight out one personal Heather foot turned in one person will ask “what do you mean right leg what do you mean lift? My point here is that nothing, when explained, is simple - which is the reason that I discuss in detail three Reality of what is Actually happening To reduce the variation and misconceptions of peoples interpretations.
