EX Zionist turned Pro Palestinian for ONE REASON! - David Mivasair

Rabbi David Mivasair is a prominent American Canadian figure known for his strong involvement in social justice, religious leadership, and political activism. As an ordained Reconstructionist rabbi, he has led the Ahavat Olam progressive synagogue in Vancouver and provided chaplaincy services, highlighting his dedication to progressive Jewish teachings and compassionate spiritual guidance. Mivasair, who is a fifth-generation American Jew, has been residing in Vancouver, British Colombia for 23 years and in Hamilton, Ontario, for over 5 years, reflecting a rich blend of cultural and religious experiences in his life and work.
He lived in Israel-Palestine for four years and have returned twice more recently with the Center for Jewish Nonviolence to act in direct physical solidarity with Palestinians in the South Hebron Hill (Masafer Yatta) struggling to maintain their own existence.
Politically active, Rabbi Mivasair is a long-time member of the New Democratic Party (NDP) and an active member of Independent Jewish Voices Canada. He is particularly vocal about Palestinian rights and critical of Israeli policies, often expressing his views through demonstrations and public statements. His endorsement of movements like the boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) against Israel signifies his commitment to advocating for justice in Israel-Palestine. His stance, which includes views that challenge the existence of Israel as a Jewish state, resonates with a mission to amplify the voices of Canadian Jews who support justice both in Israel-Palestine and at home. Rabbi Mivasair's life and actions are a testament to his deep involvement in both the Jewish community and broader social and political issues, particularly those relating to Middle-Eastern politics.

    Jewish are cousin to muslim and had same father : Abraham or Ibrahim! But Zionist have Satan as fathers, they don’t have any religion but had a Licifer religion of Satan! And use sometime Jewish name and sometime Christian name to make war with Muslim World because muslim are the truth and this truth religion is a big wall to defeat for Satanic team, they have a strong faith and can die for what they believe and no others religions now can offer this! Also they are uncontrollable and not easy to brainwashing them like they do for us here in Canada or USA or Europe with their medias! I’m EX-Jewish before but now I consider the Islam and read more and more about it and I can confirme you that this is a truth one! I get out from Tora and ténakh because I found horror in it that you can’t imagine and I’m pretty sure that the God is innocent from this : the humain who put this genocide thing in the book: kill kids, kill woman, kill father and grand father and everything ( make massacre ) if the enemy is soon of you, if far :kill just man and take woman and kids like your slave 🤮🤮🤮 this is in the book of Jewish and also human ( satanic team )put this in Christian on the name God and God are innocent. You will never see this is Coran( God word to Mohammed ) you will never read something like this in Coran: Impossible till know I finish 2/3 of Coran and never read something like this in Coran! On the contrary, it is the opposite that we find: Muslims have great respect for women and children, disabled, sick, old... and if one of them does this they banish him because he is considered a traitor and not a Muslim! And several attacks in the world are made by the Zionists on behalf of Muslims to dirty their names because they know that people in the West are easy to manipulate by the media! But it’s over now, after this genocide in Palestine everything has to change in the world. And the Zionists are running to an end

    Just FYI, the line you refer to about blessing and cursing is not in the NT. It's in Genesis chapter 12 and it is God addressing Abraham, not 'Israel. ' There was no people or kingdom called Israel yet. Christian Zionists often take things out of context.

    @@sadawskiI didn't say that, I'm just saying that it's admirable and wonderful to see someone live too close to Aushwitz and lose their family. Instead of defending the idea of Israel because as he said "there is a vulnerability which pushes its people to attach themselves to the Israeli ideal.." and that is logical and human, when you are a human being who has been persecuted for who you are it makes sense to want a place with people who look like you to feel safe even if you see that the price you paid is expensive deep down you say it's bad but I can't give up here for fear of reliving the same horror But to say "no, I've been through hell but I'm not going to participate or accept the idea of putting others through hell so that I feel safe." I'm not saying that this man isn't good, I find him wonderful too. But I invite people to look for Gabor mate too because I find that he is a human who deserves for us to know his story and that in the world we live in today, a sad and cruel world, there are people like Gabor maté

  • @RavMivasair

    @RavMivasair

    Actually, it's not true that Dr. Maté "never accepted the Zionist project". I think it is important to understand that when he was young, he DID accept it. But then, based on what he saw and what he learned, he re-evaluated it. He changed this thinking. THAT is what is great. That gives hope that other people too -- maybe all of us -- can re-think what we have been taught.

    @@RavMivasair I didn't know that, but rejecting this idea at a time when most Jews believed "that Jews were morally superior to others", as this man tells us, "he said he asked me a lot of questions.." Questioning and questioning social programming, at a time when information was not as easy and accessible as today, I find it wonderful and to do so you really need a good and pure heart. To challenge your people, your community, to withdraw and make your own way with a beautiful conscience, I find it magnificent at a time when humans show us how cruel and heartless they can be, how selfish humans can be and that for his interest he is capable of exterminating nations (Europeans with Native Americans, Europeans with Africans, Africans with Africans, Jews with Palestinians and more, the loss is long...)

    I honestly do not know why KZread suggested this interview but it is a very deep and beautiful conversation. Mr. Mivasair is a gem with a big heart. I cried with him when he talked about his friend in Gaza. You could see his concerns about his friend. I think I get it when he says that you have to care about yourself. If you have a powerful job, you can help people. He is correct. I regret that I was afraid of becoming a physician. I studied art history instead. I had more power as a medic helping people.

    I respect this Rabbi for talking openly and using references from holy books...I didn't know that Jewish people had such thoughts of justice in basic holy books...I thought it's only the modern new moderate Jewish have these thoughts of justice... I respect him reading and teaching himself away from religious books ...as he said...they are not history books....I also understand the vulnerability of Jewish people because of the past events...I only wished that even after they occupied a land..they would at least give people humanitarian rights or agree on their lands...The Rabbi is really careful in his words and the sequence of events with good book references to get back to and understand his views better... Thank you both.. Also, it takes such courage to recognize right things and actually change your beliefs...which requires a lot of critical thinking and resilience of mind to accept the difference..

Politicians and academics are quickly treated as supporting a specific side and not heard properly because people have a pre-defined opinion. So, I applaud you my friend for this interview. Even though I am closer to an atheist, I still love all my jew, muslim, christian, buddhist, hindu, atheist, black, white, yellow, , gold, red, and all brothers ans sisters from all ethnicities and background. We are all brothers and sisters because we are all human beings before we are any other thing. Jews and muslims have been (and still are) living in many muslim countries in peace so clearly, the problem in Israel is something else. I am proud of jews taking a stand for themselves and defending their faith against what Israeli regime has been doing and is doing now hiding behind judaism. Israel is the biggest threat to jews by its action. I am sure we can all live in peace alongside each other very soon ...

    Attachment to ethics cannot be part of that. Maybe we need the word " Attachment" defined ftom its original use by the Buddha. It is wonderful to discover that all the world's great religions say some of the exact same things! Buddha: Do not do to others, what you would not want them to do to you. Christ: Do unto others, what you would have them do to you." Christ: '"Bless those who persecute you." Swami Sivananda: "Help those who persecute you, in any way possible." Great great teachings by the Masters! Only one of them-Yeshuah-allowed Himself to be killed as a once for all sacrifice, a substitutionary sacrifice for all those who hear His voice and respond. He allowed Himself to be a sacrificial Lamb for His sheep. This idea that a sacrifice of perfect obedience was needed to bridge the gap between man's sinfulness and the Heavenly realms, is really hard for me to understand. Jesus came back to life in a bodily form, and now is our Heavenly Priest, interceding for us. He will come back, at which time everyone will recognize Him, and the Great Judgment will then begin.
