@Brittany James For example, the verse that the woman quoted is about inheritance, women inherit less than men because men are required to pay the bills and financially support their wife and family, whereas women are not required to spend a penny on their husband or their families even if they have more wealth than the man. Therefore it would not make sense for women to inherit the same amount as men since the man's financial responsibilities are greater than that of women.

@Kb I said women aren't required to spend any money on the family, they can if they want but they don't have to. Lots of Muslim women work but their husbands still have to pay the bills and their wives aren't required to help them. Women can just spend their money on themselves if they want or they can choose not to work. This has nothing to do with the 7th century or today.

I’m so damn lucky that my dad is a chill Muslim. I never had to go though any of the stuff most “ex-Muslims” deal with. I was NEVER a Muslim, because he didn’t raise me to be. He wanted my sister and I to make our own decisions. My mom isn’t Muslim either. In fact, because my dad was so chill about Islam growing up, I actually wanted to learn more about it and I participated once in Eid prayer. I wish every Muslim on earth was like my dad. Never ever forced his religion on anyone in his family. It’s not an issue in our house. We respect his prayer time and try to keep our voices down when he’s praying, but that’s the only thing we do. And we simply do it out of human respect. He knows we’re not Muslim and he doesn’t care. I wish every ex-Muslim the best in dealing with oppressive fundamentalist families. You guys deserve better!

wait, how does a verse that says bring two women as a witness. That doesnt disproof that the quran is not a from god. 1400 years ago there was no religion or ideology talked about the right of inherent property for women, but only the Quraan instructed to protect and respect womens' right. No other religion give this right. Now, why only half share of a male? All responsibilities to run a family is on male members, but the women has no such obligations. A women cannot be forced to spend her money for family, it is up to her will and pleasure. That is the greatness of Islam.

I lived in the Middle east (I stayed in Jordan and visited other countries) and worked as a medical practitioner for more than ten years before and after the Arab spring, and not to brag but I relatively mastered the Arabic language which is dear to my heart, and I made a lot of Arab friends but it hurts me to say this, Arab men can be very rude and cruel in general but it's most apparent when it involves treating women, and I figured it cannot be due to their nature because most Christian Arab men don't act in such ways (I'm a gay atheist btw) so Islam has got to be the disposing factor, I have actually studied Islam by my self and I must say I was intrigued, and there were a lot of good things to say about Islam, but the bad things overshadow that and if God is real and this is his message there shouldn't be any place for evil even a little in his book, so I figured the Koran cannot be the word of the supposedly (most gracious most merciful) God.

In Sharia Law which is not a requirement of Islam and was created after the Prophets death a woman is given a third of inheritance while a boy is given 2/3rds. One this is just a bs rule not actually required by Islam. Two it was created in the year 700 when women did not work and were reliant on a man for income hence why they would require it less because Islam is a traditional religion that promotes patriarchal families.

1400 years ago there was no religion or ideology talked about the right of inherent property for women, but only the Quraan instructed to protect and respect womens' right. No other religion give this right. Now, why only half share of a male? All responsibilities to run a family is on male members, but the women has no such obligations. A women cannot be forced to spend her money for family, it is up to her will and pleasure. That is the greatness of Islam.

They're just taking things out of context. The quran verse 4:11 says "for the male, what is equal to the share of two females". That is correct, however, the verse is speaking about inheritance and islam places greater financial burden on men while alleviating women of them, and that is why the inheritence is double for men. You may not like it but it is logical, coherent, and comes from God.

She also used arguments based on flawed identity politics. A man saying women don't have it that bad shouldn't be disregarded because he's a man, he should be disregarded by having his assertions proven wrong just like anyone else. People can make claims about other groups they don't belong to, and it's a strong argument to debate them on the facts, and one of the weakest possible ones to claim that their gender, race, or whatever group you choose to categorise them by doesn't get a voice in the discussion because of circumstances of their birth. That's the height of unfair discrimination and in this case, it's actually sexism.

1400 years ago there was no religion or ideology talked about the right of inherent property for women, but only the Quraan instructed to protect and respect womens' right. No other religion give this right. Now, why only half share of a male? All responsibilities to run a family is on male members, but the women has no such obligations. A women cannot be forced to spend her money for family, it is up to her will and pleasure. That is the greatness of Islam.

These women are my heroes! Now these are strong wonderful women. So impressed!

@S A As a young man growing up in an extreme fanatic Islamic country, I didn't have the natural chance to meet and hang out with a girl. .......................1 Meeting women was restricted for marriage purposes only . Growing up in a relatively poor family marriage was extremely hard since our society was controlled by Islamic mobs that made it hard to find a job ...................2 Education in my muslim country was horrible because it relayed on relegion, not science................3 Islam destroyed the hope of our country to have democratic elections because islamic corruption killed our voting system So, without a girl till the age of 30, without a job , and no chance of proper secular education, I was hopeless and tried to kill myself twice ......... But, thankfully, I was able to run away to the west escaping the Islamic kingdom of darkness....

No one should be able to decide someone else is less than them. Treat others as they would like to be treated. Not how you think they should be treated.

This is mansplaining in action, a man, who does not want to hear the opinions of women, because he isn't used to them having one. He just assumes that it's normal and okay to just talk over them. And seriously, Libyan feminism? Libya is one of the worst places for women in the world. Qadhafis regime was highly islamist, he introduced shari'a and it has stayed the law in the land until today, long before or after al-Qa'ida. Libyan feminism is a joke, it's a very small and hardly powerful movement. Different to that, islamic fundamentalism is a very popular movement in the country, the muslim brotherhood controls the West of the country, while jihadists used to control most of the center, without the West having anything to do with that. If you listen to poll results, Libya is a deeply fundamentalist and deeply conservative country, where even tribalist notions are still very much intact and liberalism is a very, very small movement. To think, that the WEST is responsible for these very local problems is ludicrous and conspiracy theorist.

The West is responsible for contributing to the spread of wahhabism and so is the quran. It's not impossible to hold two thoughts at once. The old man raised a valid point.

Royal: Are you kidding? He was supposed to ask a question. Instead he went on an endless rant that the ladies VERY patiently put up with longer than I would have. When they finally tried to answer his question, he just kept droning on like they hadn't said anything. They finally had to pull him up short. He clearly is not used to women not putting up with his bullshit. I bet you anything that asshole does that at home and his wife and family have to sit and listen to him drone on about what he thinks about everything under the sun. It's refreshing to see that kind of garbage brought up short.

b king pretty good country that continuously opressed women, just before this year women are even banned form driving, a necessary skills in modern society but is completely kept from women because of religion. I live in Malaysia and I would say Saudi Arabia is completely different from our country, far more radical I would say. And since when is not covering 100% of your body is beng regarded as naked? You don't see westerners all being nude all the time do you? Just look at the 3 women there, are they naked? When Muslims come to a secular country that respects women's rights then they should adhere to their laws and follow their values and not the other way around. When covering 99% of your body is used as a metric for morality then you know your country is fked up.

I. Live strong Yes He actually disagreed with the Quran when quoted to him. This happens EVERY time I try to talk to a Muslim about the flaws in the Quran. They disagree with the Quran EVERY TIME. Or They agree with something of pure EVIL and call it the best good. They call it the best with no facts to show it is NOT totally evil. They have NO REAL ability to debate with reason and logic: they just say it is the authority and it is to be believed and obeyed.

My deepest admiration for these brave ladies!!

They don't come to ask questions, they come stopping for the spread of truth.

After a week spent reading the Qur'an, taking notes and forming my own opinion, I was admonished by a Muslim man for not waiting for a mullah to "explain" it to me.

OMG How scary are these ladies? Intelligence, experience and AND beauty! Where have they been and why haven't I heard them before... They are great and I hope they keep doing what they did here. I know I will be keeping up with them and I know many others will also.

@@styleasif1 you forgot to mention the verse she's talking about talks about inheritance in the absences of a will lol...I was trying to figure out why she got all jumpy, maybe she thought that a man is equal to two woman which Is the opposite in Islam. This video here just proves my argument of people reading the quran for face value. An example of reading things for face value is when the quran tells us to pray but it doesn't tell us how to pray.

The good that happens in predominately Muslim countries happens despite Islam.
