Mark's "Rant" in the video regarding Burkie's thoughts on Marner and Nylander seemed pretty flawless in my opinion. Great passion and analysis within that video. Good job guys!

Not taking sides, but Burke's comments are honest and something to think about. Marner is probably being roasted unfairly for the recent playoff run and people forget he is a playmaker and also plays shorthanded. Nylander rarely back checks and doesn't play a full 60 all the time. So...interersting . Finally, the real issue is the need to get rid of Tavares's huge contract and that's another year and that's just the way it goes. Great post as always boys!

You are beyond delusional. I don’t know what some of you fans are watching. Marner is soft, weak and frail. He’s becoming more predictable and has become stagnant in his creativity. 2 assists in 7 playoff games.

Much respect for Burkie, but I think he’s wrong. In my eyes, Nylander is to Toronto what Pasternak is to Boston.

Said it the day it happened. Still saying it. Biggest mistake was giving 11m X 7 to JT. 30 other teams could have used him. Toronto did not need him. They had their core. The Shan NO Plan isn't working.

We've witnessed Mr. Burkes judgment as a GM up close and ah, yeah. Moving on, "giving it one more try to see what the team can do" has a bit of a familiar ring to it", no? But, but it can be true that coaches do have a shelf life before players start turning them out, and some of these guys were in the minors with Sheldon. So it will be interesting to see if a new bench boss will help. The only problem is Sheldon had a really good record. It seems he was doing his best with what he had? So then it becomes a GM issue. Should any player be untouchable for the right price? Who on the team was not tradeable for Tkachuk when he was leaving Calgary, if he would have considered coming of course.

I kinda agree. I wouldn’t get rid of both of the kids. The man out is JT or keep JT and hope he will take a short contract, He is amazing. But you really should keep your future young kids.

Can you imagine the Leafs had Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamikton instead of Kessel in the Phaneuf years? Thats the 1st round picks Burkie traded away for Kessel. Nylander has been the only one of the core 4 who has showed up in the playoffs in the last few years. If Nylander didnt miss those first few playoff games this season it would have been a different series. Burkie had his chance to run the Leafs and they were horrible.

I hate to agree with Burkie but ..... Tree will not want a repeat of his Calgary experience. I prefer a good defensive player, that is not 88 and signed for 8 years brings back more than signed for 1 year ......if I can't keep both one must go

They can keep both. Wtf are you on. They have 10 defenseman signed and you only need 6 and 3 goalies and you only need 2. They have 11 forwards signed and only need 1 more to fill the roster. It's a 23 man roster and they have signed 24 players. Hey can send players to the minors to make cap space.

You can find defensive two ways guys for 1/4 the cost of Marner contract. Marner doesn't score, he plays perimeter hockey which leads to turnovers and he has a shitty attitude. He's open about how his goal is to make as much money as possible. I was onboard trading Nylander last season and the year prior but he's signed now and what message does it send that we have to trade Nylander after signing him long term so we can accommodate some guy who over half the fanbase wants gone anyway?

Marner IS offesively BETTER offensively the Nylander. He is not a liability. He has Hockey IQ that is insane. Nylander has a GREAT contract year but before that he was not skating fast or back checking. He was a cherry picker. Keep Both. Matthews is a PURE scorer. Marner is a magician as far as passing and scoring when he needs to. Nylander drives the play BUT no way is he going to be a consistent 40 goal scorer.

I don't like the way Nylander plays. While offensively talented, he lacks denfensive work ethic. I am tired of seeing him floating around without moving his legs, reaching in with his stick, and avoiding physical contact. Marner has killed penalties most of his career. It is terrifying to watch Wee Willie glide around without any urgency on the PK.
