The way he ran out Petrie still disgusts me

I still couldn’t imagine what Petrie was going through when Vivek told him his days were numbered and that he still wanted him to prepare for the draft while he finds their replacement. Petrie still went through with the draft process, did all of the scouting and narrowed down to who they should take, and then was told to hit the road. I would have traded the pick or made some crazy move just in spite but kudos to Geoff for being humble.

Petrie was a very good GM running a small market team who had terrible ownership with the Maloof brothers. I would have loved to see him run a team with deep pockets and a commitment to a seasoned GM's vision for a winning team.

+Marquis de Suave But Geoff Petrie also made the bonehead move of not renewing Rick Adelman's contract after the 2006 NBA Playoffs. The Sacramento Kings have yet to make the playoffs since Adelman left.

@@joesakic91 Looking at how Adelman coached the Wolves in his final day, he might not have been the guy for a rebuild IMO

@@joesakic91 Adelman didn’t want to stay. Remember the meetings Maloof Brothers had with Phil Jackson in Las Vegas? That got back to Adelman and that fractured his relationship with the owners and the owners didn’t want him and Adelman felt betrayed. So to say it was on Petrie is entirely inaccurate.

Lmao fast forward five years to present day and Petrie was right about Vivek. Still no playoffs during Viveks ownership
