Evolve 30m Review

Музыка

I bought these when they first came out to replace my Bose L1 MII's and...so far, I love them. So..time to make a video!
I think they are still new enough that a lot of DJs aren't sure what they do or what you can use the EV 30m's for.
Let me know if you got one or thinking about it, I'll answer any questions I actually know..don't want to be blowing smoke up your asses..

I'm a dj for a small resort in The Bahamas. I invested in my first EV Evolve 30M and looking to purchase another 1 before my first wedding in April. I love it from I walked into a Sam Ash. It's great for the lobby on the weekends for Jazz nights. I wanted the 50 but I wanted to be compact with my set up nothng too heavy on my back. Easy to tote and setup. Love love love!

Thank you for the great video. For my 600-700 sq feet hall/ room at home, would the evolve 30 work beautifully for a house party ? The number of guests will be maximum 60. When I say work well I mean clarity in the sound and that in all corners of the room the sound is clearly heard. I was contemplating which one to buy for the above purpose ? LD MAUI 5 vs Evolve 30 vs Bose L1 Pro 8 ? Or any other suggestions?

  • @AaronStrawn

I think for a house party, you might want more thump, and the 30 has a 10" sub so not tons of bass there. I think though for that crowd size for sure the 30m is great. If there is anyway you could get out to a music store and listen to some of those, or check with some other DJ's, I'd start there.

I’ve been using the 50s for over a year now and I’ve never lacked for power. As others have stated the sound is more focused on the dance floor and dissipates somewhat when it gets to the audience. I used to get a lot of complaints or requests to turn down the volume with my DXR15’s and 10’s. Haven’t had that happen with the EV’s. I can crank the music for the dancers and the people who want to hang back are happy campers.

I've never heard them in person but they look solid. I think it's all what you like. If you like tops on a pole, these should be great. If you ever want to move to column speakers, most of them are good enough for 200 people

Hi...not sure if my questions will reach someone...but need to try. When you say a gig of 150 or 200 people...is it for 1 EV30m or a KIT (2) EV30m ? In your video...you show a KIT. Is it better having : 2 x EV30m OR 1 x EV50m ? (roughly 600$ difference) for a group of 150 people I know that it all depends of the place. But imagine a regular room sized to accomodate 150 people. I currently use 2 Mackie 450 + QSC K1 Sub 1000. Wanting to know if I should replace the Mackies or ADD to them.

So after having them for over a year, I would say that these are actually better for smaller crowds. Under 100, and you would still need a pair. If you want to handle up to 150, i would go with the pair of 50's or check out the RCF J8's. I reviewed those too.

Hey Aaron- came across your video. I'm looking into purchasing my first Collumn Array system, and am looking at Pros/Cons on Bose L1 and the EV systems right now. EV seems pretty clear overal from what I heard in a Guitar center recently. I'm looking to use the system for Live music in solo settings- small bars, restaurants, probably places with 200 people or less. Since some time has passed since you put this video up, I was curious, if the 30M's are still going well for you, or if you tried the Evolve 50M at all? I'm wondering if paying more for the extra power (The 50M) is worth it. I don't do any DJing at all so my purpose is strictly for Live sound- Vocals/Acoustic Guitar, and Occasional music during set breaks. Thanks.

I wouldn't count on these for that kind of crowd or room size. My opinion has def changed with real life experience. I would rather be over powered and dial back than be in the red. That's why I switched over the Bose 32 system. Way more headroom, and for smaller parties, I can just use one of them. Hope that helps!
